  1. I do. The size I got seems perfect. Any larger and it's too large. Difficulties with parking and even heavier and worse MPG than it already has. It's much smaller than a full size class A. Any smaller and you have to decide what you won't include. I want queen bed, full size 8 foot couch, full size computer desk, a stove. A shower obviously. I do not need a dinette. Not sure about a closet, if I have the space. I do not like anyone's floor design, I want something unique. What else? A compact wood stove jammed in there somewhere. I saw this cute 22 -passenger van that seemed almost perfect, had everything I wanted - F550 chassis, the mighty V10, cute as a button, very easy parking and the icing on the cake was it had 30K miles on it or such. They were asking 30K but settled for less. I almost bid on it then realized I would have to leave out half the things I wanted.
  2. Interesting concept. I run queen size and I am sure there an option for that too.
  3. I will get an Amazon delivery vehicle next time. The one with no windows.
  4. I am worried, a bit concerned/scared/ecstatic/excited.. all of that. Do not plan to make any major renovations this winter but will plan things for the spring. My only ambition right now is to register it and take out all the chairs and install a bed and some kind of heater. I did get a Check Engine Light on the way back so will get a scanner to identify it. I wonder what it could be. V10 is supposed to be a reliable motor. Maybe some kind of sensor.
  5. I see. Thanks for pointing it out. Just one more question - when it says "ID", does it entail SD ID or an ID from any other state?
  6. The SD link quoted above says this. I took it to mean that you have to get SD DL to register. NOTE: a valid South Dakota drivers license or ID is required in order to use the online Vehicle Registration & Plates portal.
  7. It appears you are correct. I think I confused two things. Establishing a domicile in FL and registering in FL. They both can be done but apparently do not have to be. Scanning the application, they even ask if you are a resident or not. Meaning there is an option to register it if you do not have a FL DL. https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/82040.pdf Can you show me an idiot's step by step guide to registering an RV in FL. Does this look correct? https://www.sapling.com/7908565/register-out-state-rv-florida I don't get what they are asking about having my VIN verified by state police in step 3. Meaning here in VA? I am not in Florida, cannot travel there without the tags (Unless I get temp VA tags and go there, which I plan to do over Christmas time frame). I suppose I could go there now anyway, for a kind of a fall vacation. I think the following is just plain incorrect, where it says you must obtain a FL DL. https://www.dmv.org/fl-florida/car-registration.php
  8. Yes. Have a number of questions about it. Now researching how to register / title it in FL. I will probably move my domicile to FL eventually but for now just want to register it.
  9. good points. Montana has all that and more, no sales tax at all. I think a SD or TX or Montana tag would look pretty strange in mid-atlantic region but FL is kind of passable. Lots of FL tags here. Nothing surprising at all. Just take 95 north/south and you are there.
  10. I spent a lot of time researching the differences between TX, FL, SD and such. All of them require DL in that state. There are 7 states where you can register a vehicle without having a DL from that state and neither of the 3 are in that list. TX is not an option as they require annual technical inspection. You gotta go there. Too far for me. FL is much closer. You do need a DL to register apparently. The rest looks straightforward. No annual car tax like in VA. Actually that will look much better, if I get pulled over, my DL matches my tags and hence no problem. No annual inspection in FL. No car tax. Cheap registration. Cheaper than VA. I am looking at this gig in FL and it's 50/50 at this point if I move there or not. Not sure what advantages SD has over FL. FL is much closer to me, from mid-atlantic and I go there in the middle of the winter when things get brutal here, which they sometimes do. I think I will register the vehicle in VA for now but the next time I go to FL, will set it up there. VA sales tax is 4% versus 6% in FL. And once I apply for a title, since I already own it, I can't image they will charge me their 6% a second time? Since it's just a transfer, or am not understanding something?
  11. I work in IT contracting and thus due to the unstable nature of the job, always bounce from place to place with no idea where I will be in 6 months. It's called perma-temping. I got stuck in DC metro area for a while but that's about to change or so it seems. My next gig will take me either to Florida or Texas, not sure which. I would like to register and title my shuttle bus in one of these states. Probably Florida. Can I do so remotely from Northern Virginia? I do not want to register it here due to VA's annual car tax (which is substantial) and annual inspection. And whatever for if it's very likely I will end up in FL (but any other state where it's super easy is not out of the question). Please advise. Anything but VA. I am not married to VA in any way, do not have any property here or anything. though Texas is another very strong possibility, I just do not know at this point.
  12. Have been gone for a decade and now I am back. What a beast. 32-passenger, V10 6.8L - the few, the proud. 53,000 miles.
  13. Here it is, 2012 F550 with a turtle top body. I will have lots of questions in the coming weeks as I convert it. https://imgur.com/a7A4v3c https://imgur.com/Y53aNBG
  14. I suppose it can address other audience. Keep the forum alive. Even with OP being MIA.
  15. The scariest thing was when the power brake booster went out on my TV. Which was Ford F250 HD. Basically a non-dually F350. 7.5L and other good stuff. The machine totally lost brakes. Luckily I was not towing at the time, and it was kind of late. I cruised into a parking lot. I forgot if I engaged my parking brake. The failure was instant. Had it happened while towing, would be a different story.
  16. I have the same question. Can I do the above but keep an out of state DL, such as from Virginia?
  17. shuttle bus is what you want, they tend to have higher ceilings than skoolies. being fiberglass, they are lighter.
  18. A very well made unit. Too bad there is a height limit and I just would not fit in one. I wish them made them much higher.
  19. where would that plate be attached to? Yeah, it is a StarCraft body on a F550 chassic. With gas engine which is a bit of a unicorn (almost all seem to be diesel)
  20. vehicle tag with rating numbers. Can you deduce from the above info what the safe cargo amount is? Knowing that GWVR is 19,500 lbs.
  21. Thinking about getting this 2012 F550 shuttle bus for conversion. I like the specs. V10 6.8L gas, Super Duty, 32-passenger. Not too small but not overly huge. The GWVR is 19,500 but the question is, what's the curb weight? I would like to upgrade the suspension to lift it just a bit. Actually not so much lift but to increase the load. And go with slightly bigger tires. What is the capacity of the gas tank? 40 gallons? 2012 F550 shuttle bus
  22. I am looking at this F550 Super Duty shuttle bus, 32 - passenger. It's GWVR is 19,500 lbs but what is its curb weight, meaning how much cargo can I carry? I can't find the data anywhere. I can't attach the pic due to size limitations. It's not in my possession therefore I can't weight it to determine the above.
  23. I am kind of inclined to get something else. The seller said it was a phone company utility vehicle, which explains the generator and the toolbox. Looks neat and yeah, the question about engine hours is totally legit. I overlooked it. Now looking at this item (Can't get the pics to automatically load, not sure why, works elsewhere) 2011 Ford F550 32 pass Shuttle Bus V10 6.8L Under 130K miles and under 20K, cheaper than the other one but it's completely stock. It does look a lot more promising. Either one of them will require a lot of work. I think if I get the 32 passenger for say 15K-17K and then invest 20K in it, which is not unusual, I will be happy. https://imgur.com/LYQYKKP Then there is really sharp 2016 F650 shuttle bus, also 32 passenger I already posted about, pretty low miles of 17K miles ( need to inquire about the engine hours). Looks sharp but they are asking 45K. Not sure if it's worth it or what. Will still need about 20K of stuff put into it which will put it into the 65K range, and in that range there many alternatives that do not require any work at all. Although I do like the concept of what I am getting here and get to pick exactly what goes in it. https://imgur.com/I8EnGnh
