  1. Lee, congrats on the rig!!!

Jeri, yeah, the heat could be worse, although it hit 122* this afternoon. We were at the lot, discussing walls, and we both turned and said "f&(@:'($;&&:# its hot"

all outside discussions need to take place before 10 AM when its at least below 110.

But as long as we have something to DO we don't care. Building has started, and we are stoked!

  2. people, people, people, quitcherwhining. ;-)

    118* in Havasu By Thursday.

Sandie, I hear ya, we also try to be done with anything outside, by 10 am at the latest. And I am constantly handing Paul water, to make sure he hydrates. He has been trying to rig up sunshades to keep the direct sun off the trailer.

Today was the first (but not the last, I am sure) day that the AC couldn't quite keep up.

Work crews start at 5 am here, and our meeting with the builder is at 7:30. hope we are done before we get baked.

  3. Jeri, if you want to spend any amount of time in the keys, its one of the few place you can't "wing" very well. Most places book up early.

That being said, there IS one Elks Lodge in the Keys that has parking.

We got tired of waiting to hear from the city about our build permit, while sweltering in the heat, so we left.

Took the camper and are now parked in Kaibab National Forest , near Flagstaff. it was 98 in Havasu and 54* here :)

  4. Betty's is on our bucket list. I thought they limited visits to less than a week. Time to be pampered.

Betty definitely doesn't put a time limit on visits. Many people go there with the intent to stay for a few days, and end up staying weeks. Some people are unimpressed, and leave early. It sure is nothing fancy. its all about Betty and the fun she creates.

The day we were arriving on our first visit, she called us at 9 AM, wanting to know where we were. We barely figured out WHO was calling, and then were very confused as to WHY. She said "C'mon!! Everyone at the RV park is goin to a party at noon. You gonna be here by then?" Before we were able to feel insulted, she made it clear we were INVITED and she wanted to make sure we got there in time. Gotta roll with it when dealing with Betty, but What a Blast!

I do not know where you are in MO., but US-50 is a great road across Kansas so you can miss most of OK. I have tried two roads through OK that way and they are both bad bad bad. I go US-50 to Dodge City and turn south to Amarillo.

We stay at Lakewood, NM so we go to Canyon, TX. then turn right to cut across to NM. We go US-60 to Roswell and see the aliens. Then US-285 to Carlsbad. Not telling you how to go, just telling of good roads.

Thanks for the heads up! We always appreciate knowing good routes to take since we HATE crappy roads!

We already made it to NM, but we did end up taking rte 50 over to 54 and cut south thru Liberal, KS. We were on the road reeeeeeeally early today with gusts of 55+ predicted for the PM. driver called it quits at 2 pm once the winds started really kicking up.

Tomorrow they are predicted to be just as bad if not worse so we will try to get on the road by sun up and hope to get to El Paso early.

Lee, I lied anyway. With the boat attached and driving the truck camper, we won't make it in his moms driveway so we will stay at the casino which is much closer to her house. Then she can come and get us :)

  6. Wow, everyone is swarming around.

We are making a run through tornado alley but headed west. We are in Missouri tonight and how far we get tomorrow depends on the weather. if it looks like it will kick up, we will keep on driving. We are trying to stay north and out of OK :)

Gonna stop in El Paso to see Pauls mom before running back to havasu, but getting antsy because the dealer got in a Jeep we are interested in so I wanna hurry up :)

Lee, we stay in the campground behind Camping world when we go to El Paso. we won't arrive until Saturday but let us know if we can do anything for you :)

  7. Lee,

I've been told it is not a good thing to top off your DEF. It messes up the measuring system that tells you when to refill it or something like that.

    Linda

Paul says that with Ford and Chevy at least, it won't matter. Mercedes he isn't familiar with.

  8. Glad you are having a nice visit, Lee (except the hitch issue).

We just had a mini road trip and are starting a major one tomorrow. We'll take the camper and head to MI to pick up our boat and rearrange our stuff in storage, prepping it for shipping when the time comes. Oh such fun. We have about 3 weeks or so to get it all done and be back in Havasu. Yikes.

  9. Well we don't have rain to worry about here in AZ but we sure have more than our share of swarming bees. Every night on the news they talk about it. Hiking the other day we had a swarm move past us on the trail. I hid, Paul watched them swarm past us. We walked past two clusters on the way down, Not sure I like hiking here in the spring :(

  10. We finally got our pin unstuck from Havasu and moved all the way up the road to Lake Mohave. We are at a free NPS campground right on the lake, recommended by Brad and Marilyn. The camping here is awesome, the lake is gorgeous and the 4 mile trek down the washboard road was....memorable. I forgot that Brad prides himself on getting his rig into some great, but difficult spots. We made it, but Paul says we won't be coming back :)

On to Vegas for a DRV rally tomorrow....

  11. Here it moving day. Out of the Jayco into the Space Craft. We have been in the Jayco for 6 years. It is a bitter/ sweet move. It is old and glad to get ride of the problems. New home is exciting, because it is new and it is the floor plan we wanted and not a factory design.

I am not smart enough to post pictures. It has a front kitchen and bed room in the back. We are excited to show it off so hope to see you soon!

Congrats on the new rig :)

  12. Fully understandable, have a great visit and if we don't hook up this time we will give it another shot next time through. Maybe we will just go drive around looking for that sign on your lot LOL!!!

And I promise we won't leave any geocach's (spelling) that look like old Indian artifacts that would hold up anything.

haha !literally laughed out loud at that :)

The lot is being graded in the next day or so, so your restraint is appreciated!

  13. Hey Sue & Paul,,,we are in Havasu for a few more days. We should try to get together for a burger & a beer or something if you aren't to busy.

    Dave,

We'll have to see how long we all stick around. Our son flew in from Boston and Paul hasn't seen him in 2 years so we are focused on him rught now :)

We'll check with you guys after he leaves to go back to all the snow!

    Sue

  14. Just checking in to make sure everyone is doing well.

Toni, glad you finally made it and your nerves can settle down.

we are still here in Havasu. Now that the weather has warmed up, we are spending a fair amount of time out on the boat, enjoying the water. Every time a "go-fast" flies by, Paul gets antsy to go get the jet boat from Michigan.

The house project is still moving along. Our customization list is done. We'll have 2 FHU spots :)

And why would you have a 60 ft rv garage when you could bump it to 65 feet? yikes. and it will be 18 feet wide so we can open all the slides. 1800 sq feet of living space and.....1800 sq ft of garage space, lol Paul will be in heaven.

  15. Thanks guys...

We don't plan on hanging around in the summer much, except this year because we'll be building. With both the camper and the trailer to use, we expect to be out and about. We'll be there most of the winter though, paying the big bucks to heat the pool and hot tub, no doubt. :)

    Linda, Vegas is closer ;-)

Toni, I thought my reply was funny but I am not sure my daughter did! Still, she is thrilled that we will have a "home".

  16. Sorry everyone has the "blahs".

Paul and I are pretty excited. We bought a lot to build a house on, here in Havasu. The only negative is that we'll have to be here while they build.....in the summer. eeeeeeew. 110* doesn't sound like fun.

Wrote a blog post about it, showing some pictures.....

  17. We are still here in Lake Havasu City, with my brother visiting for the last week. Oh yeah, and his wife.

Still looking at property and cross your fingers, if all goes as planned (like THAT ever happens) the term "fulltimer" may not apply to us anymore....strange idea, that.

    Sue
