  1. No snow here in Laughlin, Nevada, so don't send any here!! We don't want to set a new standard...........Just resting after a fun week at the Porters Party, Project, Pool, and Play Palace! We were so worn out that everyone left (even the Porters) :o Now all we have to do is get ready for Q! :D The Riverside RV park always seems to have a few spaces so we managed to slide into one of them. Pat and Gary Hinz, who joined us in Q a couple of years ago were already here from California for a few days so we had dinner with them and caught up on their life. We hoped they could come to Q, but his mother just died and he's still dealing with that situation, so they probably will not make it. They are the ones that had the border collie named Kelly. We are going to plan another "Italian night" with Chateaugay spaghetti while there, so I'd better stock up on sweet Italian sausage and the rest of the fixings. zoyd s ;oyy;r est,rt jrtr yjsm zjsbodi niy mpy ,ivj@ Hmm looks like I was one key off, but I said It was a little warmer here than Havasu, but not much. Too tired must sleep ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yep, we had to leave our own house in order to recover from all the partying. Such a good time! warmer here in El Paso than Havasu tooo, but again, not by much.

Hope to see everyone in Q very soon!

  2. Freddy, hope the new hip is doing well. Yep, no cutting horse training for a while!! Mine has been doing fine, but then I haven't done any horse training at all. Hmmm

Toni, that sounds like a great Walmart location. Maybe that is going to be a trend (I hope). Last Walmart we stayed at cost about $110. but I needed that new battery charger.............or did I?

Now we have a new front end on our bus. We are just waiting for the Diamond Shield to be installed tomorrow morning and we'll be through with the "Branson Incident". We did get a different front end as the 2010 front looked better and would still be able to be blended into the side stripes. Now it looks like a 2010 with 2007 headlights. One of a kind bus and it does look pretty good. Finally the battle damage is gone and we can get BessyBus going again. Took from 9/1to 12/1, but hey, life gets in the way too.

We had a funny thing happen last evening. There were a few storms coming through the area and a tornado watch was put in place. Then the sirens in Red Bay went off and a loud voice came over the speakers and told us to seek shelter now! Well, being from Oklahoma we were watching radar and the storm had already passed about 10 minutes before the warning came out, so that was a good one. Later we were watching local TV and the weather guy was showing some mish mash on the screen and said it was from his "weather app" Whaaaaat! we are trusting our lives to a "weather app"!!!! :o If I want to get wiped out by a tornado we'll go back to Oklahoma and "do it right"!!

hope you will soon be done with fixing stuff up, and I guess those Alabamians don't know how to deal with tornadoes- not good for the blood pressure!

  3. It was nasty in Mesa last night too. There was lots of rain and wind. Ick! Hopefully, that's behind us now and sunny skies are ahead. I really hate it that we can't watch the NFL games we want to. Dish convinced us yesterday to sign up for NFL RedZone to watch the Seahawks. We saw about 10% of the game as it switched back and forth to other games. We cancelled it just about as fast as we signed up for it. Of course, that was probably a game we didn't want to watch anyway.

We get annoyed when we can't see the Pats, too. Sunday we went to the Elks- its 'bring your own snacks' NFL Day. athey show all the games. We sat in front of a big screen TV and were the only ones in the room! $1.75 beer- can't beat it!

And yeah, it felt like winter here in Havasu the last two days. Should be better soon.

  4. Our conversation tonight turned to Quartzsite, and here is the upshot of the conversation:

Paul and I may want to be home in Havasu the 13-14 of January for the Balloon fiesta. We should be in Q on the 15th and plan on staying somewhere on Plomosa Rd until Jan. 23 when we will move to Tucson for medical appointments. Brad and Marilyn and Tom and Dianne asked me to mention that they will be plan to be in Q about the same time as us.

  5. We were "thinking" of heading to Q when leave here Jan. 15. "Probably" still will...not a big fan of the Big Tent anyway.

    R

Our jello plan is to come before the show, maybe stay for the beginning of it. We don't need anything, maybe we'll beat the crowds to Silly Al's.

We prefer Plomosa Rd. - too dusty at La Posa

  6. The party has begun! And we have celebrities. Not only do we have wonderful Betty, we have Mark Nemeth and Jim and Lisa Koca from SKP headquarters. We got here and there were 3 rigs and now there are nine rigs.

There is live music, beer and food in the square every night for the next ten days. We went last night It was magic. We didn't even realize that that kind of thing still went on. We forgot our cameras last night but won't next time. Saturday night is a cracklin festival and we are all going.

Yup ,Betty's is a special kind of place. You either love it or hate it. We had a blast. The day we were due to arrive she called us (never said who she was) Just said "when you gonna get here? You need to be here by 2 pm. My musician friend invited everyone to a party so we need to leave by 2. "

The party was hosted by Judy Bailey, a country singer. She provided all the food, and a live concert with her new band. You just have to be open to having fun when you go to Betty's.

  7. All that talk of "feels good to be settled in for a bit" is actually why Karla and I bought a place. After 8 years of fting, and being at the park in IL doing the park host for 4 yrs, we were ready for something new. (but old) And since we wanted to be part of the g-kids lives, while they want us around, we felt here and now was time. We spent the most of the summer looking up and down the Fox River and Chain o lakes for a house but just as important a nice small town. We wanted to be 20 miles from the kids, but didn't find anything. Then we expanded to 25, and Crystal Lake came into our sights. It's a great little midwestern city on the edge of Chicago Land with a metra train to the city, a lake, and a nice little downtown district. We bought a 1400 sq ft ranch built in the 65, walking distance to the dwntwn (1/2 mile) and lake (1 mile) and 25 miles to the kids. There is room in the driveway for the mh but city allows only 10 days at a time, 3 times a yr. That works for us. City water and sewer is a plus too and a dry basement with no sump pump to worry about. We didn't know this till after buying, but the 2015 best small cities to live in, WalletHub ranked Crystal Lk as #10.

So we moved in, got our stuff here from MI storage, we are wondering why we kept some of the things we did. So many clothes and no couch but a lawn mower and snow blower. A new couch is coming tomorrow. We kept a portable fire pit which we had to get a permit from the fire dept to have a fire in, which we did and already have had a fire in it.

We are taking the mh one last seasonal run to MI next Tues for a couple of weeks and then come home and winterize it for the winter. A spring a trip is in the planning stages to the Pacific NW so we are still mh people but just in a vacation setting.

So thats our story and we are sticking to it! Hope all is well with everybody!

    Congrats!

when we got our stuff out of storage we were wondering what we were thinking with some of it too. Still, it was great to have some of our stuff back.

We are hoping to see the PNW next year too. If time allows, stop by for a while in Havasu on your way there or back :)

  8. O was also going to suggest higher elevation for the colors. We just drove through the VA area and the leaves were green at lower elevations and already colored at the higher ones. We also toured the Biltmore. its actually my favorite mansion.

We are in ELP for an undetermined period of time and will beeline home as soon as we are able to leave here.

  9. We left the coast Monday and moved to Grants Pass. It was foggy, drizzle and light rain on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday were nice and some sun but today we are back to rain again. The rain is suppose to last through Monday. Also the weather people say it could be very windy today and Saturday. Tomorrow (Friday) we are going toward Sacramento but it may rain there through the weekend. Trying to escape the rain. The weather has altered our plans quite a bit lately. Love the chalk but the rain keeps washing our plans away. Eventually we'll make it to So Cal and Arizona.

    Travel safe everyone.

    Jeff :)

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!

Having no skin in the game, (Patriots fan) it doesn't look wonderful for the Broncos, but its early in the season....

When was the last time the Chargers went to the playoffs??!

  10. We didn't sell his mom's place for 6 months. That way if she decided to go back home, it was still there for her. We looked at it like a vacation home.

We are also willing to go that route- convince her to move for the winter, keep the house for now. That way she can take her time getting rid of what she doesn't want. She keeps thinking she needs to empty the house before she moves, can't quite grasp the idea of doing it the other way around so we are still working on that.
  11. Thanks all,

Conversations have been going on for quite a while. She has 'the place' picked out- 3 meals a day, her own apartment, housekeeping etc, tons of activities and 3 of her best friends already live there but her last comment was "I AM NOT READY TO MOVE" yep, in all Caps.

Baby steps we say. As long as she will let us help her cull through her stuff and keep the process alive, we will be satisfied i think- for now.

  12. Well, with TB12 back on the field, we had a great outing today.

We are bugging out of MA on Tuesday and beelining for El Paso where we will try to convince my mother in law that its time to give up the house. HA, good luck to us.

    Then its straight home!

    GO PATS!!!!
