  1. Actually, looking back, the last time Lee was on the forum was June 13, almost 2 weeks ago. Anyone been in contact with him? He said he has difficulty writing, so maybe the forum posts are hard for him.

Our winter plans involve Havasu (surprise!!!!)

but we will also take trips, and have never been to Borrego, so that is high on our bucket list too :)

  2. per the New Orleans Elks lodge website:

    Lodge Facilities

    RV hookups

Lodge has RV hookups (Electric and Water Only - no sewerage.)

For all Elks- Please call for details and reservations. (Call the office for details.) Since these sites are in the back of our parking lot once you are parked, it will be difficult to move your RV. There are open showers and toilets available in the pool area during our open hours.

i agree, I think Steve and Carol stayed there and were fine with it

  3. Thanks Diane, we will beam ourselves in! B)

Got a little late start today as we were still in the Redlands Rv shop. We had the bus weighed and found out two things. One, we had a mismatched tire on the front. One was a 275/80R 22.5 H rated and the other was a G rated tire. The H rated tire matched all the other tires and they were made in 2014. The G rated tire was a 2011 tire, so at some time it must have been changed. The other problem was we were overweight in the front, even with the H rated tires! I wound up getting two 295/80R 22.5 H rated tires and now we are within the carrying capacity on the front. Even with the FMCA tire program it bit my wallet pretty hard, but now I know everything is within specs. All and all we did well at Redlands. They found the leak in the roof, which two other places missed, replaced the rest of the shocks (I can tell the difference), and replaced a tie rod end and aligned the front end (drives much better now). They gave us full hook-ups for a week too, so that was nice. A quality company to deal with. They were loading a trailer to head to Quartzsite, so they will have a booth in the big tent. We pulled into Blythe just about sundown and had to stop to watch a OKC Thunder basketball game. We also need fuel and have mail to get in Blythe, so we decided to park it and dry camp for a night. Oh yeah, we are dry camping for a couple of weeks at Q, so we'll call this a "practice night" Steve

Shoulda practiced here in Havasu...had a great time tonight-dinner and a hot tub and then full hook up :)

    see you all soon!

  4. I thumbed through a bunch of pages but didn't stumble across the dates everyone was talking about getting together this year in Q.

The Porters and Swains should be arriving from Havasu next Wednesday, the 13th. I believe there may be one or two who are arriving next Tuesday- Steve and Carol? Randy and Liz?

Whoever gets there first should pick a phenomenal spot and then let everyone know where it is!

  5. Oh! That's backwards! Better to have too much than not enough, right? I'd hate for you to find out you can go then not be able to participate because supplies ran out. Or have others mad at you because you partook of supplies after saying you wouldn't. Or anything like that. They just don't want to buy for 30 if only 15 plan to go. But, if there's a possibility of you going I bet they'd rather count you in.

    Linda

    Linda Linda Linda,

    exactly!!

we always have enough food for twice the crowd

We just want to make sure we don't have enough for 10X the crowd!!

we will plan as closely as we can with the understanding that we'll all have a great time regardless!

  6. It's on our short list Linda. After following S & P's postings this summer not sure if I could handle the heat...however, "it's a dry heat"...LOL!

    Roger

C'mon over and hang out when you are in the area! And yeah, we have no intention of EVER being here in the summer! So come visit before then!

We checked out the Havasu RV Resort, they have Casitas and what knot but just didn't have the activities it seemed. I'm not a big water person so the lake isn't a huge draw to me.

Havasu Resort is where we spent the summer. They do have activites all winter long, but of course, none in the summer, because no one is here! Still, no comparison to Mesa Regal etc!

  7. It has been hot, hot, hot for way too may days in Florida. Yesterday temperatures even jumped to 92. It's hard to keep cool but I do see relief in the forecast three days from now.

well you should all come back to AZ. It was 43* when we got up today. Yesterday was cold AND windy. It was miserable. Reminded me of Alaska :)

    Julie,

I am sure we can rig you up with enough Margaritas to keep you satisfied !

Just bought more Cointreau today :)

I am assuming we can get to Q early. There is a balloon festival in Havasu Jan 15-17, so we'd have to miss that.

    Jello plans!

  8. You took the words right outta my mouth...lol

We want to ck out the area too...maybe this winter

I know Tom and Diane and Dave and Nancy like it

Not sure but I think Toni and Doug like it there too.

We have also driven by many times and never had the time to stop and explore....

    Road Trip!!!

  9. This is what I figured from those on the forum who responded that they will probably be with the group in Q during January. I may be wrong but it's a guess.

-- Steved44, soos, readytoride, hdrider, IYQ, tdhomestead, palamine and now Mimi55. There will probably be others who join in. The big tent is January 16-24 in 2016.

Most everyone else appears to be scattered elsewhere.

You know, speaking of being scattered elsewhere, I heard from Loralie Parks and she and Lee will be in Florida this winter and is wondering who else will be there. If anyone who will be in FL does Facebook, maybe you could reach out to her?

As for keeping in touch via the forum, many of us keep in closer contact thru Facebook, rather than, or in addition to, the forum. Its more immediate, we get to see pictures that everyone posts and see what they are up to, and we reach a wider audience of our friends.

Although I post on the forum once in a while, the details of my adventures are on FB.

  10. Glad you are enjoying Arizona this winter - look forward to meeting up in Q in January! I have not idea what dates yet- I know IYQ hopes to be in Q as well.

Who else plans on Q this winter????

    I don't know......its such a long drive for us.......HA!

We will be there at some point, whenever the majority of the group are there :)

Probably during the RV show I guess!

  11. Carol, so glad to hear. All is well.

Randy and Liz here. Glad I found the right tread. We are currently in Mesa til the end of November so if anyone is inthe area give us a shout. This is the first time we did not go back to Texas in the 10 years we have been full timing. Hope everyone is enjoying their winter.

Well you are only a hop skip and a jump from Havasu, so if you get bored, c'mon up!
