  1. Well you are correct that if no one ever mentions it then what seems obvious my never be noticed or an attempt made to fix a problem.  And there are fair share that don't care.  Some of course are burned out or are frustrated with the system themselves. I did not mean to come across as thin skinned about this but sometimes  I get really frustrated about the way things don't work. NOW back to travel, right.🙃

  2. Don't jump to conclusions about who does or doesn't care. "Maybe" you are right in at least the one instance but no blanket statements.  A lot of us do get really sore heads from running our heads against the same  tree over and over trying to get things right.

The recreation.gov is confusing to use at times compared to the old site.  They need to fire their site developer.

    Ken

I hate to see some one get fired but considering how many people are affected by this I sure would like to see them assigned to something they are better at and let someone else that knows what they are doing run it.  To be slightly fair they are using information they get from the different entities .

Everyone thinks it is so important to put their own spin on something that works good just so they can justify their job.  That is why that saying, If it ain't broke why fix it is so popular.  I hope google and microsoft and Chev and everyone else is listening.  😀But I won't hold my breath.   New and Improved. A statement that srikes fear in my heart.

  4. Depending on the trash you put it in PLease don't do that.  We had someone doing similar on our forest putting them in the bear proof cans.  Not a good thing if you have to pull the trash and a bag tears or rodents, bears etc happen to tear it. I found one once where they bagged the urine in like zip lock baggies. Thank goodness it was on top and easy to spot when I opened the back of the bear proof.

  5. I recently went on recreation.gov since I frequently send people to that site to reserve mostly day use sites on our district (where I volunteer)   I know this area well and I found recreation.gov to be very confusing.  I hope it is not the same for all the other places they are responsible for reserving.

they gave us the new licenses right there in the DMV office--no mail required.

In New Mexico I believe they do the same thing.  I know about 15 or more years ago I was here and titled and tagged a vehicle I was going to leave here they issue the title on the spot.  I have bee a Texan since 1953 and our wonderfull state has never figured out that is a good idea or how to do it.

  7. If you are not careful and know what you are doing and what to do if something goes wrong it is a recipe for disaster. I am on the Sandia Ranger District just outside of Albq. and a young guy (20's?) lost his life just a few days back camping on the district when the weather went cold and we had snow. He had a truck and a motorcycle.  He was never more than a couple of miles at most from homes and a forest roads and a major black top.  He was able to make a call to a step dad to say he was lost. I was leaving the Ranger Station when his mom showed up and wanted to know how to get someone to search.  I told them to call 911 as here the state police starts all searches. They searched on their own first and found his truck and continued to search on their own before they came to the Ranger Station.  Really a sad situation as the best I could learn he was found in a closed group site and was not more than a half a mile from homes including a friend of mine that could have helped search with his drone. Never take stuff for granted out in nature.

You will not be getting medical bills forwarded. Unless things have changed, they can't be, and they don't participate in 21st century technology.

Not sure what medical bills you are talking about but some of mine sure are forwarded by the mail service. Perhaps you are referring to the PO forwarding them. True enough that many items are actually labled. "Do not forward"  Those are forwarded by my mail service,

  9. you have to have a domicile somewhere and that requires an address.  There may be a way to do it without some mail forwarding service but some things have to get to you by mail even if it is bare minimal.  I started out for a few months with a reliable friend but as dependable as they were it was not fair to burden them and was not as convienent to me.  That is most peoples experience for far longer than Escapees has existed. There has been traveling performers, business people, just plain travelers forever.

  10. Does AU stand for Austrailia. When I googled it I came up with Auburn University and such.

Bruce in my limited experience Austraila was different and probably still is to their credit. There are still plenty of places in the US that are trusting but out of necessity it has changed significantly over many years and understandingly so.

In 1968 I left my wallet at the hotel Metropole then later ordered a fairly pricey meal. Just before the food arrived I remembered I had no way to pay. On speaking to the owner/manager? I was treated so well I still speak of it to this day on occaision.

  11. It seems very rare but there are some sales people that are good and will offer upgrades or choice but not push you or try to fool and manipulate you. I even lean slightly toward one that is is willing to just say they don't know an answer but will find it out. That young one listening seems like he has promise.

  12. sumthin' ain't right. I have not had a failure either.  I would bet though that the 50.000 hrs are based on something like 3 hours of use per day.  A good number of years ago I was looking at some name brand supposed quality incandescents and happen to see the smaller print. It is what it is but I just hate to have a company try to be deceptive. The one I was looking at that caught my eye was a floodlight bulb used for security and certainly going to be on more than 3 hours per night.

  13. Ironically I had an issue with titles and tags the first time used Fedex for that. And I griped out one daughter a little🤠 as she is a Fedex employee. What ever she does for them is computer security related and if she tells me more she has to completely disable my brain.  😀I suspect she has already started.

  14. It just clicked in my old brain I could have worded the topic better as it sound like it was an problem with the service itself rather than an issue making contact which is unusual.  Whatever happened seems to be resolved as I have contacted them twice since with no issues.

So just another sideways comment.  Mail service forwarded to me on Feb.1 to Atoka, Tn.(near Memphis,TN) and my  daugther called last night and said it arrived yesterday.  Almost 6 weeks.  Am hoping she can forward with Fedex but may have to do post. Last one she did got here to Tijeras, NM in a  week(near Albq. NM)

  15. If you are able to use them the military  affiliated credit unions have what seems to be a riciprical agreement that makes it a very large choice of no fee  ATM's availability.  I use two. Navy Federal and Kirtland FCU (Kirtland AFB, Albq)

  16. If memory serves when I was at the Tx SP you had until a certain time the next day. Could have been as late as 2pm or as early as 11am. You lost 1 day/night fee. That was when people would be lined up to claim a forfeited site.  We did have people make a reservation that would show up in the night or rarely early the next day.

If you were at the desk and knew a specific site you wanted we could look up to see if it was available and you could claim it.  If you wanted to scout around you were not supposed to occupy a site until you came back to make sure it was open. If they occupied one that someone had paid for but not set up yet even just from leaving the office it could create a problem and sometimes even had to get a Ranger out to force a move.  People often tried to reserve specific sites but at least at that time we did not do that. We tried to steer people to appropriate size sites but could not deny anyone access to an available site if they wanted it.
