    What do other full timers do in a case like this?

    Unfortunately, difficulty in choosing a doctor has become the norm for pretty much everyone today and particularly so for seniors. Because most doctors with established practices are so busy that they can be selective about who they accept. Another consideration is the type of healthcare plan that you have. Many doctors who do accept new patients will not accept new Medicare patients and some who do so don't accept Advantage plans. As a diabetic patient, if you know others I suggest that you get recommendations from them.  If you share the location of your domicile there may be someone on the forums who can suggest some possible choices.

    A couple of days ago I decided to try and investigate further, but really could not see where the pump was,

    What I have done to find the location of a leak is to wrap a paper towel around each possible location and then test the system for a short time. The towel will show effects from being wet even if it should dry before you get back to it. Locating the source is usually the most difficult part.

    I'm looking for info about rebuilding the pump.

    Many pumps do have rebuild kits available but if the leak is from the pump housing that will probably mean replacing the pump. Before you to that make sure that it isn't just a fitting that is leaking.

    I found my water heater drains back into the fresh tank when all water is shut off.

    Does the water tank get full when the RV is connected to city water? If so that does mean that the pump is not acting as a check valve as they should. I don't remember having heard of a water heater emptying back to the tank before but if it did with the electric element turned on, it would likely destroy it in time.

    I clearly failed to convey what I meant to.

    No problem whatsoever. I actually understand the reason for paywalls as the magazines are not nonprofit and can not operate for free. Magazines and newspapers have been struggling due to the decrease in subscribers and the availability of information on the internet is the primary reason. I actually pay for several emagazines, but fewer than I once subscribed to and I've not subscribed to a newspaper in about 10 years.

    If, for example, Texas is your legal domicile and you spend winters in Texas, then vehicles that you keep in Texas and use in Texas need to be licensed in Texas.

    That still violates the TX regulation that say that you must show "Evidence of Texas Vehicle Registration* for each vehicle you own."

    Try opening the story with a browser that isn't subscribed to the service.

    Which is exactly what I did, but most of those sites will allow nonsubscribers to see for a limited time. When I go back and look for it I did see a place to subscribe that had a counter to tell me how many times I could read it before I had to subscribe. Most of us do not examine the entire page when looking at a news story. Since that happens from time to time, I just do a search on the subject, as it seems Dan does as well.

  6. So what about the retiree who has a summer home and a winter home and keeps a car at each location and proper registration of a car is where it is garaged, while driver's license properly is only in the state of domicile? I found on the DMV site where it states that you have only 30 days to register a car after you bring it to TX and also that you have 90 days to get your driver's license moved. I also found this on dps.tx.gov.

    • Evidence of Texas Vehicle Registration* for each vehicle you own. Registration must be current. Visit Texas DMV vehicle registration for more information. (New Residents who are surrendering an out-of-state driver license only)
    • Proof of Insurance* for each vehicle you own

    That still leaves the question of the winter/summer home folks? I suspect that most people simply pretend the other care doesn't exist. Most likely the reason for the registration issue is that so many people move in but do not transfer vehicle registrations until they are due to be renewed in the state that they moved from. If I remember correctly, we did that when we moved to TX from WY. I did look at several states and didn't find the same rule on any of those that I checked.

    Texas seems a little backwards to me in that you have to register a vehicle before you can get a license,

    I hear that from time to time, but I question it because our son moved to TX from WA several years ago and got his TX license right away, but didn't even bring his vehicle to TX for several months. I also have two grandchildren with TX licenses that do not own any vehicles. It has been so long since we moved to TX that I don't remember what we had to do.

  8. § 1020.220 Customer identification program requirements for banks.

    (i) Customer information required —

    (A) In general. The CIP must contain procedures for opening an account that specify the identifying information that will be obtained from each customer. Except as permitted by paragraphs (a)(2)(i)(B) and (C) of this section, the bank must obtain, at a minimum, the following information from the customer prior to opening an account:

    (1) Name;

    (2) Date of birth, for an individual;

    (3) Address, which shall be:

    (i) For an individual, a residential or business street address;

    (ii) For an individual who does not have a residential or business street address, an Army Post Office (APO) or Fleet Post Office (FPO) box number, or the residential or business street address of next of kin or of another contact individual; or

    (iii) For a person other than an individual (such as a corporation, partnership, or trust), a principal place of business, local office, or other physical location; and

    (4) Identification number, which shall be:

    (i) For a U.S. person, a taxpayer identification number; or

    (ii) For a non-U.S. person, one or more of the following: A taxpayer identification number; passport number and country of issuance; alien identification card number; or number and country of issuance of any other government-issued document evidencing nationality or residence and bearing a photograph or similar safeguard.

    Note to paragraph (a)(2)(i)(A)(4)(ii):

    When opening an account for a foreign business or enterprise that does not have an identification number, the bank must request alternative government-issued documentation certifying the existence of the business or enterprise.

    (B) Exception for persons applying for a taxpayer identification number. Instead of obtaining a taxpayer identification number from a customer prior to opening the account, the CIP may include procedures for opening an account for a customer that has applied for, but has not received, a taxpayer identification number. In this case, the CIP must include procedures to confirm that the application was filed before the customer opens the account and to obtain the taxpayer identification number within a reasonable period of time after the account is opened.

  9. Thursday has seminars only until noon and there will be a few things in the afternoon like Dip a Chip for CARE. Thursday night is the big street fair with music and food as well as other activities. Friday is departure day so what you will miss on friday is the traffic jam that is always involved in leaving but is usually pretty much resolved by 10 or 11 am. There are no events on Friday.

    I had an RV electrician over and he and I checked everything we could think of aside from a small section of buried wires on the DC side.

    As a career electromechanical tech., I have found very few RV techs that have had a through knowledge/understanding of electrical and/or electronic principles. The fact that a second converter suffered the same fate tells me that things are not OK. My first thought was the same as Lou, and a short could also cause the cap to blow. Most likely if you install another converter it will experience the same fate.

    I will bad mouth WF at every opportunity I get.

    I hope that nobody believes that they have a bank that cares about them. Pam worked in banking much of her working life, being employed by 5 different major banks (WF was not one of them) and all operated pretty much the same way. If you look at a list of the 15 Biggest Compliance Fines ($1Billion and Above), you will find that the two Wells Fargo incidents are numbers 8 & 9 on that list. The largest fines were by Bank of America in 2014. Unless you choose one of the small, privately held banks they are public corporations whose only reason for existence is making a profit for the investors. Privately held, small banks do still exist, mostly in small agricultural communities but they are slowly disappearing.

    Publicly held corporations do not have ethics, only the profit/loss statement matters. You may find a few employees who have ethical standards and seem to care about the customers, but only profits matter to the investors.

    Wells Fargo, however, tends to skirt the law, pushing the envelope until they get caught.

    While we no longer are with WF, we were for more than 15 years and have no complaints.  We still have several friends who have continued to do business with WF and none of them have mentioned any problems. What was your experience with Wells Fargo? I do wonder if the impact of that ruling last April may have brought extra examination by regulators over the Patriot Act requirements for customer identifications? If you read that story again you will see that it has nothing at all to do with customer address issues.

    On another forum there have been posts of this happening at a couple of other financial institutions as well. I have wondered if there may have been some new regulations issued or increased enforcement to others.
