  1. You might want to go north first after all. Here's a quote from the current NOAA forecast: "THUNDERSTORMS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE SUNDAY MORNING ACROSS EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN. STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL INCREASE AGAIN MONDAY AND TUESDAY AS A STRONG AREA OF LOW PRESSURE TRACKS NEAR THE MINNESOTA IOWA BORDER. TORRENTIAL RAIN WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY THE STORMS." We drove for a few minutes through one of those torrential rains last night and it was NOT fun! Linda
  2. Dave puts our coordinates on the class map so I copied this from it: 45.274479,-93.555420. It's a co-op park, though, that doesn't rent sites for less than a month as far as I know, but the owner of our site did boondock a few nights on the cul-de-sac right outside our gate. The closest overnight, I think, is Minneapolis Northwest KOA which is not cheap but does have pull-through spots. Or you could go to this one, http://www.anokacountyparks.com/camping/rice_creek.htm, and we could come over there to meet you. There's a restaurant near there called Millers on Main I want to check out. Their website looks promising and it's halfway between us and good friends we want to meet for a meal. If you want to just meet for lunch we can go pretty much anywhere on whatever route you want to take through town then you could head on north. And if all this gets too complicated just head on by and we'll catch you next time. Getting up to see your family in a timely manner is more important than stopping to see us. Linda
  3. Have you picked a route yet? Shortest is MN Hwy 23. Fastest is supposed to be I-90 E to I-35 N. Either one brings you within a few miles of us. We're on Hwy 101 one exit south of Elk River. Let us know if you'll have time to stop for at least a meal. We'll treat. If you think you might take MN Hwy 23 you can check it out by reading my blog from when we drove it two years ago about this time of year. Start at http://www.sandsys.org/wordpress/2009/06/minnesota-highway-23/. Linda
  4. Verizon Advanced? Dave doesn't seem too sure. It is Verizon, though. Linda
  5. I like that better than blaming us. Although, our Millenicom is working just fine. Linda
  6. Reminds me of the boss who provoked me into quitting a decent job. It turned out she started out in my position and felt threatened by me wanting to not follow her precise rules. I NEVER would have wanted her job but she didn't know that. She could only see me as being overqualified for the job I had and her job was the only possible step up within that company so she felt compelled to make it impossible for me to continue working for her. I was the second person she did that to. I wonder if she was ever to get qualified help that didn't make her feel threatened? I know she no longer works for that company. I hope your situation doesn't turn out to be one of those. Linda Sand
  7. My favorite "make lemonade" story is about a church youth group holding a car wash. Of course, it rained. So they made a big sign that said, "We wash. God rinses." Did a booming business. Linda
  8. How to take up smoking with no expense and no effort. Linda Sand
  9. The weather forecasters are predicting a mostly sunny weekend here. What happened? We might actually have to go out and do something. Linda
  10. Congratulations, Marsha! Now you can drink legally. Linda Sand
  11. At least when we got flooded out of our campground last summer we were not responsible for helping everyone cope. I do NOT envy you guys. I hope the two two of you are managing to stay high and dry. And relatively sane. Linda
  12. Don't combat it; give in and go somewhere! We've already picked a place to go for an oil change when hitch itch sets in here. Not far away but enough that we could choose to spend a night or two away from our summer spot if we feel the need for a getaway. Besides we've been told we need to move the rig every now and then to keep from getting square tires. Dave's already talking about moving it out so he can mow under it to give the ants fewer access ramps but given the challenge we had getting it into this spot i'm not anxious to move it already. Linda
  13. What, no picture?! Oh, I guess I'd better check your blog before I start complaining, huh? Congratulations, anyway. Linda
  14. It seems to me it did a pretty good job of hiding itself. I'm not sure I could find it again. Linda
  15. We arrived at our summer spot northwest of Minneapolis and got settled in before the rains started. They're supposed to continue through next Monday so I'm glad we are parked. Linda Sand
  16. We started with Sprint but they kicked us off for too much roaming. Then we had Verizon but using too much bandwidth got expensive. Now we have Millenicom--so far, so good. Dave's iPhone, of course, uses AT&T. Let's see, is there anything we haven't used? Linda Sand
  17. For our Friday the 13th experience Winnebago was able to buff out our tree scratches without having to repaint. Bad day? Not. Plus they finally replaced the toilet that kept trying to flood. Plus they found out the problem we have with the one slide topper is a broken spring which is now on order and should be here Tuesday morning. Now if they could just figure out what's wrong with our stupid furnace... Linda Sand
  18. Makes me glad Dave talked me out of doing Blogger. It's frustrating enough dealing with the blogs of all my friends who do. Linda
  19. We're on the road in Iowa during spring storm season. Tomorrow we get to decide whether to stay here with lousy internet or move on to possible hail. Terrible decision to have to make. We are on our way to the Winnebago factory for a few fix-its, though, so if we get hail they can repair it, right? Linda Sand
  20. I'm glad Paul made the trip safely. What fun to buy a customized rig! I hope you get to enjoy it for many, many years. Linda Sand
  21. Rah, Rah! Sis Boom Bah. Way to go Mike & Deb! Linda Sand
  22. On what calendar is May 1st summer?!!! Linda Sand former Minnesotan who is headed back there too early this year
  23. Too late. I can't get all my fingers and toes uncrossed and the world looks funny when you see it straight on. Congratulations, anyway. Linda
