fortytwo Posted February 28, 2016 Report Share Posted February 28, 2016 My Dell laptop with Windows 10 is erratic in importing photos from a USB card reader. Sometimes it doesn't recognize the reader is plugged in. Other times it may take a minute or more to pop up the little window asking what to do with USB connected cards. Not sure if it's my USB ports, but the same thing happens on all 3. My HP laptop with Win7 has MS Media center and the Import Photos option box pops up almost instantly. I like it better than the Win10 solution anyway. Is there any way to install that program to Win10? Alternatively, is there a third party program that would work? I could possibly still have the problem of the card reader recognition. Also I do my own photo organizing. Both Win 7 & 10 try to grab control and build what they think the photo organization should be. Since my first digital camera I have used a timeline model and saved photos in folders by year and month. Anyone know of a way to turn off the auto-organize Windows imposes on you?
