  1. I have an idea for either our RDBE group - or maybe (even more fun) - the whole rally group. It would be a game - kind of like Chinese Christmas (like our bingo game at the ECR rally for those who were there). It would go like this - everyone brings something from their rv that's still a good item ("extra stuff"), but one that they no longer need. No one spends any money at all for the gifts. Not exactly sure how we take it from there, but we get to take the items away from each other like we did at the bingo game. We could draw numbers, play a game, or come up with another plan for why we take each others things away - but that's where the fun is - in the take and retake part! What do you gals think? Kitchen items, decorating items, anything would be acceptable except opened food of course... These kind of gift "games" are an absolute riot of laughing and messing with each other...!

    Sharon,

We had so much fun at ECR in Crossville, I think the whole group Bingo Night type game would be fun with the "extra stuff" you stated about. Might want to send Gail Dixon the idea, in case she doesn't sign on this Forum.

  2. Where are all our RDBE gals and what's going on? We're all too busy?? I for one am back "home" again to clean out the HUGE storage unit and sell/donate all that's there before mid to late August. Doesn't that just sound like TOO much fun!? So what are you ladies doing this summer? If anyone finds their way up to Buena Vista, CO - where the mountains are HUGE, the temps are cool, the air is dry, and the rafting and fishing are great - please holler and come say hi!

We are in "kind of" the same mode. Working on clearing out stuff in our home in Jacksonville, FL and making our home base in Oak Hill, FL as we want it. Once Raymond retires not sure how much we'll see the home base - that part remains to be seen. Most recent project for me has been to finish the backsplash in the RV. What a fun project. I've, also, started following several Blogs of Escapees that are in Alaska this summer since we plan to travel AK the first summer of retirement. There are so many places to see across the USA and Canada -- can't wait. At this point, we think the Verizon MiFi will suffice for our "keeping in touch" and this past weekend Raymond got the printer set up to handle wireless. So our plan to put it out of the way in the bedroom will work well. :) Still trying to figure out RV Systems - having an issue with one fan vent....we've had 2 tropical storms with blowing winds and rain....both times we had a leak. MAYBE this time we have it locked down as the directions suggest....we'll see. 60% chance of rain tomorrow. HAHA NEVER a dull moment and, I think, it's going to take us 2 years to figure it all out. What an Extraordinary Adventure! Already looking forward to seeing everyone in Hutchinson!

  3. The HDT guys are having such good times on their postings, so let's (the girls) start adding places we visit, fun times seeing friends, festivals with places and dates, recipes, etc. We all have such a good time when we get together - face to face - let's try writing and posting pictures.

Kechup and A1 fit nicely on "Citrus Acres". Soon we'll be ready for more to visit!

  4. We are finally up in the 70's here in FL! Nights are cool but days are perfect! Chris Penner, my DH and I went to the Flea Market yesterday in Webster and got our usual strawberriees from Plant City but the traditional $5 per FLAT are now $7 per 1/2 flat! Not much else that we were looking for. We're getting spoiled with our joint dinners every evening and have come up with some easy but delicious recipes. Chris and Vern used to have a Bed and Breakfast and she is really talented when it comes to good healthy cooking! Examples, tonight Chris is making creamed Asparagus on toast with special Parmesian topping, and strawberry shortcake Chris's styles; last evening I made Crab bisque, Chris contributed homemade bread, and I made sweet shortcakes for strawberry shortcake NH style. Taco salads, with butterscotch pudding and strawberries dipped in sour cream and brown sugar, a pork tenderloin with pierogis and salad with strawberry cake are a couple other tasty tidbits on the menu for last week. We plan our dinners a day in advance depending on what we have available jointly! Every day is a surprise! When Cindy and Jeff Brett were here all last week, it was a 3 way effort, looking forward to them stopping back here again!

February birthdays are flying by! With all our culinary creations, flea markets and on going RV repairs, RDBE birthday greetings have been unintentionally neglected. I hope all you RDBE gals had a wonderful Valentines Day! Jo Ann Council celebrated her birthday on Valentines Day so Mike got to do double duty! Go Mike, shovel your way to downtown Chillicothe in your hip boots and bring home a nice surprise for JoAnn. Jill Mattson's birthday was the 13th, and Dave probably had to use the same shovel technique as Mike for her gift, Paula Hooper (6th), Fannie France (5th) may have had better luck with the weather and hope you both had a wonderful birthday celebration! Marsha Trautman (3rd) at Spacecraft, may also have been snowed in but hope she had a fantastic day and best wishes for many more for all of you!

  5. RDBE Cook Book update. I heard from Janet Church RDBE #58. She agreed to work on the RDBE Cookbook a couple years ago and has come up with a method of putting it together and being able to add to it. The name of each recipe should be altered to indicate something related to HDT's or RV's. example 'Transmission Truffle'. She suggested that we mail our recipes to her and she will post an update and specifics soon on the RDBE thread! This will be a fun project and hope that all gals will participate in it! In fact at some of your Happy Hours you could discuss clever names for your favorite recipes. Hugs Davena RDBE#!

RDBE Cook Book Update = Hi Everyone! You can send as many recipes as you would like to my email (jags1fan@gmail.com) - in .pdf format. Follow the normal recipe format - Creative Recipe Name as Davena suggested. Ingredients. Directions. If you have them - add the Nutritional Info as well. And of course, your name. I'd like to include photo's of you, your trucks, RV's. I haven't talked to Davena about this part - but maybe she can provide me with photo's from past HDT Rally's etc. that I'll be able to include.

My plan is to put these Cook Books together in a way that we can add recipes maybe on a yearly basis, as the recipes build up (or more often if necessary). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Email is faster, but I'll try to start checking this forum really often. LOL

    Til We Meet Again! Janet
