  1. We had a wonderful time visiting with Susan & Trey Selman and Rick and Alana Jennings last Saturday in Cocoa Beach, FL. Looking forward to seeing them again soon.

Alicia - looking forward to seeing pictures of your trip to YNP. Also, yes - your adult beverage recipe will be welcomed and added to our RDBE Cookbook. :)

Our next trip out is a long weekend at NAS Pensacola the end of May. Meeting my half brother and his wife - P'cola is near half way between us and their Houston home. Also, looking forward to spending time with a girlfriend from 1st grade (I grew up in P'cola) and her husband, too. Probably will only visit the Navy Museum due to time constraints. Will be a good weekend to check out staying on military installations.

  2. FINALLY - the RDBE (Rigs Driven By Estrogen) COOKBOOK is finally ready to launch. I shared the site with the Ladies at the mini RDBE Meeting in Crossville but wanted to get the link to everyone. At the present time, I have received 44 recipes from all of you. Please continue to send recipes to me at my personal email address: jags1fan@gmail.com

    http://www.desktopcookbook.com/cookbookshare/18142/20001.htm

You can access all of the 44 recipes without creating a 'membership' to desktopcookbook. And you will be able to print without joining. However, if you want to join you will have access to all of the recipes in their database.

I purposely titled all of our recipes to begin with RDBE, thus creating easy searching.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me - and share with all the Ladies that you might be emailing with that might not check this Forum.

    Safe Travels, Everyone!

    Janet

  3. Raymond and I are safely back in Jacksonville and he's on his way to work as I write. What a wonderful time we had at the ECR and already looking forward to next year. For us, the rest of this year will be spent getting our Jax home on the market and (hopefully) sold and moving a few items to our Home Base in Oak Hill, FL. A couple of short "long weekend" trips to Pensacola and possibly Charleston, SC to meet up with family and friends. Sadly, we will be missing the '13 HDT Rally in Hutch - and, instead of that fun, we'll be adding new tires to the Volvo and RV. Raymond is counting the days to retirement. Can't wait to be 'ON THE ROAD AGAIN'. 2013 is flying by and we have lots to do to keep it flying!

So great to see Donna on the forum! AND welcome back Suzan -- I was thinking of you just last week and was going to send you an email nudge to join us again! So glad to hear all is going well with you, Mike and cute Boomer.

Hope everyone has safe travels! And hope we see you all somewhere down the road next year.

    Janet

  4. 2013 East Coast Rally! After a longer than usual trip between Macon, GA and Chattanooga, TN we arrived at the ECR around 7pm last night. Weather was perfect for driving but the "parking lots" and nothing but brake lights slowed us by 3.5 hours. Sooo glad to be off the road. So nice to see old friends and meet new ones......many more adventures in the upcoming week. :)

  5. Well, I am delighted to make my first post to this thread gang! After a lot of waiting and planning we are finally joining he ranks of the full-timers. Robin and I are finishing business in Hawaii this weekend and flying off island for the last time tomorrow. We arrive in Orlando FL and officially complete the move into the rig on Tuesday the 2nd. We spend a couple of days in Orlando taking care of things, swing through Tallahassee, FL to see the youngest daughter who is a senior at FSU (Go Noles!) and then make our way to Crossville TN on Saturday the 6th for the ECR!

After that we are not sure where to, probably will follow the 70 degree mark! We will see you all on the road.

    Jim and Robin

Jim and Robin -- Looking forward to meeting you both. Hope your trip to Orlando was uneventful. Home Base for us is 1 hour east of there. We plan to leave here tomorrow by 1pm and stop in Jasper/White Springs to visit the friends we got our Rig from just a year ago. Will arrive Crossville Friday. You have safe travels and we'll see you up there!!!

  6. Sue - So great to hear you are heading to the ECR.

I'm getting the RV loaded today and we plan (hope) to pull out of Oak Hill tomorrow by 1pm at the latest. We planned an overnight near Jasper/White Springs, FL so we can visit George/Diane Crowell. (We bought their Rig 14 March 12) so it will be great to spend an evening with them. We hope to be in Crossville, Friday mid afternoon!

So exciting to see all the changes everyone is making.

Looking forward to being at our 2nd ECR. Safe travels everyone - wherever you may be going!

  7. Happy Easter Everyone!! We are in Oak Hill (homebase) for the weekend and had a wonderful Saturday afternoon visit/lunch with Trey and Susan! We are looking forward to heading to the 2013 East Coast Rally this Thursday. Hope to leave by 1pm and spend the night in Jasper, FL and visit with George and Diane Crowell (who we bought our Rig from). Expect to arrive Crossville, TN mid afternoon Friday! Looking forward to a FUN week with old friends, meeting new friends and hearing the wealth of knowledge that always comes out at these Rally's. Wherever you may be or may be on the road to - have safe travels.

  8. Thought everyone might enjoy this:

    My Recent Travels

I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I live close so it's a short drive. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore. I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go and I try not to visit there too often. I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm. Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.

One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenaline flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get! And, sometimes I think I am in Vincible but life shows me I am not. People keep telling me I'm in Denial but I'm positive I've never been there before! I have been in Deep... many times; the older I get, the easier it is to get there. I actually kind of enjoy it there. So far, I haven't been in Continent, but my travel agent says I'll be going soon.

  9. Hi Ladies, All is going well in Jacksonville, FL. We are slowly (and I emphasize slowly) getting to work on the sticks and bricks that we plan to get on the market this year. At "homebase" 30 minutes south of Daytona we have tons of Sour Oranges - if anyone is near that area and likes sour oranges for their Marmalade Recipes or Mojo Sauce, etc, let us know! 8 WEEKS FROM TODAY we head to the ECR (East Coast Rally) in Crossville, TN. 6-13 April 2013. IF you haven't thought about going, check out the posting by SuiteSuccess "East Coast Rally Update". We had a blast there in 2012 (at our first official RV trip/adventure) and are looking forward to another fun week with old friends and meeting new friends. Mark your Calendars!!!! Deer Run RV Resort is a beautiful place!

RDBE Cookbook Update: I have taken your suggestions from the last RDBE meeting in Hutchinson, KS this past October, and will be announcing SOON how you can obtain the 35 recipes I have received to date. Keep those recipes coming as you cook your old favorites or try out new ones! Please send all recipes to jags1fan@gmail.com IF you happen to make a recipe that you'll be submitting - take a picture of it and attach that to the email as well. I'll be adding color pictures to each recipe page, as soon as I prepare the recipes submitted and do a little snapping as I go!!!

Our youngest son, who attended the RV Service Academy in South Florida is launching is own RV Mobile Service Company. He is near the Daytona/Titusville area. If you need RV service and are near the East Coast of FL - keep him in mind as he gets this puppy off the ground. He bought a pop up camper, gutted it, built out the inside with aluminum frame shelving to store his tools for the trade!

Hope this finds you all healthy and having a blast "on the road" wherever you may be! We can't wait to be "out there too"! (we are almost on our less than 1 year countdown) B)

  10. You are so right, Sharon! We love the DRV and I suspect won't ever trade for anything else. And, I think, I am finished my last "project" on the decor of the RV. Well, except for a couple of things we might have Alicia do for us, post retirement. The Tampa RV Supershow is just fun and quite a few HDTers show up....so that's fun to catch up with them. Plus we are able to wander through and check out new ideas in RV's.

We are having some beautiful weather in FL this week. Mostly 70s during the days, 50s at night and a slight breeze. Windows Open type weather!!!

    Everyone have a great week.

  11. Love reading all of the posts and keeping up with everyone moving around, etc.

No problem Susan, you can send recipes anytime. Raymond and I will be in Tampa this Wednesday and will return Sunday. Nice Raymond has off Monday so he doesn't have to rush back to Jacksonville right away. I'll be heading to Jax with him and plan to be there most of the next month. We'll see how much work on the house I get done. LOL

Already looking forward to ECR in Crossville 6-13 April.

It's been beautiful near New Smyrna Beach the past few days. I'm back to walking in hopes of being ready for the Gate River Run (15K) in Jax 9 March. 7 miles this past Saturday went well, but will be working on faster times during my shorter walks.

Everyone, take care. If you are in Tampa the end of this week, hopefully we'll see you there.

  12. Nice Idea, Alicia

Janet and Raymond -- working on clearing, painting, staging sticks and bricks in Jacksonville, FL to list by Spring and spending some time in Oak Hill, FL at 'home base' Citrus Acres!

Looking forward to Tampa RV SuperShow 16-20 January and then ECR Crossville TN 6-13 April '13. Other than that we'll be between Jax and Oak Hill the rest of the year. Can't wait til Feb 2014.

  13. Glad to read all of the posts and say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! I'm glad to have 2012 in the rear view mirror, so to speak! Raymond and I are looking forward to getting our home in Jax, FL on the market in (hopefully) early Spring. Since Raymond is still working, we only plan a few days at the Tampa RV SuperShow this month and the ECR in Crossville, TN in April. No HDT Rally for us this year....think we are replacing all tires so we'll be ready to "hit the open road" in early 2014. We are looking forward to seeing Davena, Henry & Kitty in FL soon. If you ever get near, I-95 EXIT 244 in Florida and want to stop by - give us a shout. Remember, also, send your favorite recipes as you find them!

  14. Aggie - Your Prickly Pear Jam and Jelly sound good. To answer your question: I make a Mango/Jalapeno Jelly. Pineapple would be good as well, but I haven't done that YET.

Safe travels during the holidays everyone - predicted higher traffic volume than ever.

    Janet

  15. Way to go, Sharon...encouraging us to post. Maybe, we should send an email to all of the RDBE gals encouraging them to sign on and post often...we'd love to hear from everyone! I'll try to post more often! I'm currently at our 'future homebase' getting a few things done so that when the Jax house is ready for the real estate market I'll have a couple of spots to move a very few pieces of furniture that we/I plan to keep. This property was originally my Grandfather's, then my Mom built a house on the last 10 acres of Orange Trees that he had - so that going to Homebase for us! A piece of property that our kids would like to remain in the family. But, currently, Raymond and I both are thinking we'll NOT be here very often. And, if, our youngest son continues to live here and maintain the property for us that will eliminate us needing to come through here more than we plan to.

Sharon - so glad you posted the kind of scanner you are using, I was going to ask.

I'd like to hear what and where everyone plans during Thanksgiving.

We plan to be in Jacksonville and two out of three of our kids will join us for our traditional meal that my Mom started in 1973. Raymond has the week off but we have numerous appointments planned. Currently plan 2 weeks at Christmas will be at Homebase.

    Safe Travels everyone!

  16. Ladies, I have a question for you. I was talking to one of the gals and we were talking about set up/tear down time for the interior of the camper.

How long does it take you, on average, to get ready to roll?

Sue, I've been chasing babies. Turned my back for too long and this is what happened....

    post-13743-0-63679200-1351303140_thumb.jpg

My estimate would be 45-60 minutes on both sides of that process (just for me inside the RV). We are still so new to the process of open up/or close, I start at one end of the RV and try to methodically go to the other end. I'm not using the 'museum tape' stuff, so I put away all glass, etc, that I might have put out. And, I pay very close attention to what's in the way of the slide edges before I open or close...amazing the stories you hear about things that have shifted their location when you arrive where you want to be. That paid off for us this time coming home from Hutch....very rough roads on I-10 LA Eastbound shifted even small end tables forward and would have definitely been in the way of both LR slides when I opened them. Never seen those tables move, in fact they seemed to be wedged in place, until now! What an adorable picture....kids are fast aren't they? Glad you shared the picture!

  17. RECIPES: ALL recipes are accepted, not just ones from the great Pot Luck Dinners we've had. You can email them to me (jags1fan@gmail.com). No particular format since I have so many handwritten ones already from RBDE gals, but I intend to follow close to the usual format of "Recipe Name", # of servings it makes-if known, Ingredients, Preparation, Nutrition Values if known, Submitter Name/ and possibly the information of the RIG they currently have.

No deadline, however, when I get to around 100 recipes - we'll publish then. I have around 25-30 right now. Also, plan to let ya'll know when we reach 75 submittals - I'll try to advise what sections of the Cookbook need more entries so we can equal out the sections somewhat.

Since so many would like the 'cookbook' on DVD, we'll be printing only the ones needed in that format. All other will be on a DVD or another format for accessing the cookbook online. Accessing online seems to be getting popular - so I'm checking that out to see if that would work for us.

  18. Hey Jim, we're talking about a possible west coast spring "rally" or "get together" (separate thread) - and Pahrump has been mentioned a time or two. Any chance you could scope it out with the possibility of a place big enough with some sort of meeting room for our functions? Drive safe.

    Sharon

And, maybe make it at a different week than the East Coast Rally, so people could possibly attend both IF they are on the road near both???

  19. Good Morning, Ladies.

Raymond and I are safely back at 'Homebase' in FL. We left Hutch at 1030am Sunday and stopped at Sherman, TX (376 miles) at Sunset. 2nd Day we drove 678 miles to Point Clear, AL - what AWFUL roads we encountered when we got on I-10 at Lafayette, LA all the way to the MS State Line. 3rd Day we arrived at homebase near Titusville, FL about 6pm after 528 miles. Lots of mileage - but what a way to travel !!!!! We love it. And, this being our third trip to the HDT Rally in Hutch, it was a great experience to not go back to the hotel each night. LOL

I had a wonderful time catching up a little with old friends, meeting new ones and can't wait til we see you all again. IF any of you get near our "Homebase" in FL, let us know. You are welcome to pull in here.

RECIPES: share any that you want to me at: jags1fan@gmail.com

Since most of you would like recipes on DVD instead of a print version, I'm thinking that maybe "Recipes via computer" might be even easier for everyone to access. So,I'm working on that idea and will let you know. Currently I have about 25 recipes so keep them coming!

    Safe Travels, Everyone.

    Janet

1 )Coolest idea was a couple of the apps for my new phone. Got milk and Cardstar. Thanks Dale :)

    2) Pearl of wisdom was hubby needs to get out of the truck and walk the site before backing it in instead of relying on me to put him where he wants to be. Saves some "heated discussions". Thanks Jack dry.gif

    3) Crap.....CRS strikes again........

On the bright side B) met a lot of new friends and got reacquainted with some old (hi Jacolyn :P ) friends. By the end of the rally I was peopled out..... I'll recover in a day or too. :D
