  1. I am SO looking forward to giving Elon my money for this!

If you watched last night's (11/24/20) SpaceX Starlink launch, you probably saw the discussion of Starlink's current beta testing coverage. It appears that the geofence is because there is actually a 'patchwork' of coverage and if you move X miles down the road, your signal may drop out due to the low satellite count as it stands now. Obviously this isnt a prob once more sats are in place.

Here's a bit of a interesting blurb on how the ground receiver works:

The Starlink team also explained how the dish locates satellites. "[The dish] is able to electronically scan the sky in a matter of milliseconds and lock into the satellite overhead, even though it's traveling 17,500 mph overhead," DishyMcFlatface answered. "When it detects a satellite, the Starlink hones in on its position and makes a request to join the internet. After that, the dish is able to download a schedule of which satellites to talk to next, and with that it can point right at the satellites when the time comes."   https://www.space.com/spacex-starlink-100th-falcon-9-rocket-launch

LOTS more stats and information on SpaceX at that link as well.

We've had this rig for 7 years and this is a brand new development.  I know *we* didn't switch lines and I see no earthly reason why the RV service center we took it to would have done so.

Yeah, it wouldnt be reasonable for someone to switch them, but if i read it correctly you did have someone working on a repair that involved hooking up water lines. Just trying to think outside the box until you can get it fixed. Best of Luck.

CFerguson, very true or want you to jump thru hoops to get it.....

Exactly. I just want to see (at a minimum) general rates and not spend an hour trying to figure all of them out.  Many places have a hard cutoff when a rate changes drastically and may affect my decision where i want to stay. I can afford it in any case, but i DONT like to be cheated and hiding information makes me feel that way. Reminds me of a sleazy car dealer trying to squeeze every unethical nickle out of a deal with bogus fees. Hiding rates makes me feel like:

    1) theres something to hide(including those sneaky add-ons), and

    2) i;m not getting the best deal that i could.

But its private property and they can do what they want. This kind of thing obviously isnt a deal breaker for many folks, so i guess it works for the CGs that do it that way.

  4. I've only bought a new vehicle out of state once but it went smoothly. I stopped into my local Tag/Title county office, told them what ii was doing, and they told me EXACTLY what i needed to bring to them. Maybe if you call the office where you want to register your car, you could head off problems.  And if the seller balks at giving you exactly what you need when you need it, maybe you should buy from someone else.  Good Luck!

Not to sound sarcastic, but a fair deal is what you and the dealer agree upon......

    Exactly.

When i worked at a (very) large company, i was sent to a company school that taught us how to be effective managers. On the schedule for Thursday afternoon was Effective Negotiating. Boy, were we all hyped to get to Thursday- well learn the secrets on how to screw over those evil car dealerships!

Well, it was nothing like that. It was better. it showed us how to change our perceptions. The takeaway was as you said: "A Good Deal is one where both parties walk away happy".

Figure out what works best for YOU within your finances/lifestyle.

  6. It is my understanding that the "Better Than Nothing Beta"(Starlink's words, not mine!) is geofenced, meaning that it will only work at your home address or very nearby. RKIs pls correct me if i am wrong.

On the + side, the reports are that it works great even when snow and icicles cover the receiver in blizzard conditions!
