I don't think that we could adapt to the wet-bath but we are also older.

    Kirk,

The 22' model has a dry bath!  The pics look nice.  Storage looks limited but I bet they will cope.

I am an advance beginner, meaning that I no longer shoot on “auto.” Lol

HAHAHAHA.  Yeah, I'm in the same boat.  When I get to intermediate stage it will mean that I sometimes make better choices than "auto" would make,  Spent several hours shooting at the Tampa Zoo yesterday.

Again, look at the facts instead of parroting popular opinion.

Snowfall records since 1900 don't even begin to qualify as a second cousin of "the facts."  In terms of climate time frames relying on records for 121 years are like looking out of the window to predict the weather six months from now.  Take a look at ice cores over 400,000 years "for facts" about greenhouse gas levels and climate change.  For information about ice cores look as the National Science Foundation's Ice Core Facility website.

  4. I've been reading this for a while.  There seems to be very little discussion about driving habits.  The best savings I found was identifying my mileage sweet spot.  That is the point where you are getting the best mileage at reasonable highway speeds.  For me it is 59-62 mph and 10.5-11.0 mpg.  If I travel any faster than that fuel consumption jumps. If I start hard from stop lights it jumps.  At 64 mph it jumps down from 10.5-11.0 to 9.0-9.5 mpg.  At $3 per gallon that is a 30 cents per gallon price increase.  So drive smoothy at a speed that is economical.  Keep watching ahead; it is better to slow a bit and avoid stopping or major acceleration to get back to speed.

They do not need to see the trailer if it is a 5th wheel or TT.

But you do need to get a deputy from that county to verify the vin number if you don't have the trailer along.  Escapees has the proper paperwork.  Once you have it call the county sheriff's dispatcher, tell them what you need and they will send out a deputy to verify it. We did this at Bushnell several years ago and it was seamless.

The S637 tires aren't on the recall, if you look at the recall there are 4 listed by name, roadx, blacklion, blackhawk, and ironhead brand.

Actually, there are five listed, including Sailun.  The following is from the NHTSA link.  I added the boldface on Sailun

"Sailun Tire Americas, Inc. (Sailun) is recalling certain Sailun, RoadX, Blacklion, Blackhawk, and Ironhead brand tires, sizes ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 with DOT codes 2020 through 4120. Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation."

I'm trying to imagine being airlifted out of our full-time rig then needing to live for a month without any of our stuff. No spare clothes. No electronics. No anything. Ugh!

Pretty much like the month after yur house burns down.  No fun I can tell you.

The fresh water tank is pretty minimal and so is storage.  A pickup truck with a covered 8' bed and another 10-15 gallons of water would fix both issues.

Thanks, the cap has already been discussed. I will mention the water.

  9. UPDATE:  Closing on the Inn is this week.  They should be down here in FL around Jan 2 and we will join them for the RV show.  They don't have a trailer yet, but they have reservations with us in Oct and Nov on Outer Banks!

Wondering what kind of average speed do you run and what is your MPG?  I spoke at length to a fellow with a 3500 GMC dually with the 8.1L and a 18,000 lb. trailer and he said it pulled fine, but he could pass everything except a gas station.  We were getting close to 10mpg pulling a 16,500 lb. trailer with our 7.3L Ford diesel running 65 mph.  He was getting half that towing and about 10mpg running solo.

I didn't chime in about mileage before because I have the Ford 6.7 diesel.  Trailer is 16,000 or so.  Unloaded is about 15-18 mpg. Towing is 10-11 mpg.  I have no trouble with fuel stations because the 350 dually gives me enough payload for a 50 gal Transfer Flow low profile tank.  I have a range of about 850 miles towing (34 main plus 50).  The fastest I travel is 62-63 mph except to pass.  The 6.7 passes very well.

So what do you think might happen if the propane supply pressure was too high? I can't recall ever having seen a propane regulator fail high but suspect that it is possible.

let's hope not.  One of the folks here in FL has been trying to order a regulator for three months. He says no one has regulators. My guess is it will get here for summer.

10 yrs ago Stan told me not to block the landing gear up more than 7" cus if you mess up hooking up or un hooking and the rig slips off the pads it will make a big crash as it smashes off the hitch and bangs onto the deck....so I've heard.

Sometimes you cannot avoid high blocks.  That's where a checklist helps avoid this problem.  When hooking up one of the steps on our hook-up checklist is to set the landing gear one inch above ground and then test the hitch.  Often this means lowering the landing gear once the blocks are out.  That way it only falls an inch if there is a problem.  When unhooking one of the steps is to make sure the jaws and the hitch lever are in the right positions (open and 10 o'clock) before pulling away.  I am amazed at the people who hook and unhook without a checklist.  But they do provide amusement at the campsite.

Making a checklist was the first lesson in RV driving school.  Thank you Charlie McLeod, you saved us a lot of headaches.

Regarding which blocks, we do not have a self leveling system.  We use Camco yellow plastic.  They are warping a bit after 3-1/2 years but still usable.

  13. I've never skirted a trailer or coach.  I have, however, skirted a log cabin and a raised building in the mountains during a Maine winter.  It will make a big difference in heating and comfort, primarily in floor temperature.  Skirting can do two things.  First it can reduce the heat loss from windchill - air moving under the RV will take heat away.  Second, it can create an insulating space that remains warmer.  Wind stoppage can be achieved by something as thin as plastic sheeting but it is so thin that there will not be a lot insulating.  Insulating boards should do both, so long as the  joints between the boards do not provide too much heat loss by infiltration/seepage. A combination of the two should be even more effective.  Check it periodically to be sure it isn't too tight and trapping excess moisture.  There are a number of videos available showing how it is done.  Many seem to use vinyl panels.  I would consider backing the panels with insulation board.

I'm probably going to make several mistakes,

If you are like the rest of us, "will" fits better then "probably."  My biggest mistake in starting out was getting too much stuff that I didn't need.  That was the product of not knowing enough bout what I was doing.  You have started with a forum of folks who know quite a bit.  They are helpful.  You should manage OK.

Jinx says thank you.  Until we retired she went by the name her parents named her.  No one could pronounce it consistently.  No one could spell it consistently.  No one could remember it consistently.  When we retired and she no longer ran the office she decided she would go by another name.  It is working well.

Anybody using the mail forwarding service...how do you handle checks that are mailed to you? Usually I deposit with a mobile banking app, so wondering how I'm going to take that paper check scanned by the mail forwarding and get it deposited.

    thanks.

I'm pretty sure you are not going to deposit the scans that the mail forwarding service sends you.  You are going to have to have them forwarded to you and then deposit them.  I'm not sure which mail service you use, but escapees has overnight delivery available if you want to pay the price.
