  1. Eric 1234, we have had the RSSA for 2 years now, it is every bit of 39' + from ladder to nose.  We can access the bathroom and the bed, but not the bed room.  Right side fridge opens, but not the left or bottom freezer. Towing at total of 57' combined.  We previously had an 05 36 TK3 for 10 years.  We do not have a problem in having slides open in rest areas, just have to pick right spot.  Second the suggestion to check with RollingRetreats for advice/pricing, but they do not take other than DRV in trades.  Might also check with Sunshine RV in Havasu City, much closer, or RVs4Less in TN.  Whatever, if you order, be sure you get risers installed to clear the 450.  Access to washer/dryer in the RSSA is tight and behind the toilet, not easy to fix if they go bad.

  2. I would think that moving the hitch forward any amount would add weight to the front axle--just about every weight I have seen has been higher on the front axle when hitched over unhitched.  But should never add weight to one side only--bad numbers.    Also, DEF is 9.1 lb/gal--heavier than water--if I remember, that year GM DEF tank is close behind the right front tire?

  3. Have had the TST system on two Suites and 3 trucks--ten sensors.  Never a valve stem problem with the stems/sensors.  I have had numerous extension leaks/failures in trying to find extensions that  would allow access with the Ford duals. Finally got 6" stems on inner tires and turned the outers to where they can be accessed without it being pointed into the wheel hole.  No problems lately, rely a lot on trends in temp/psi on all wheels--one not reading close to the others, time to check them.  Won't travel without this type of warning system--it has warned me of 2 nail pickups/slow leaks in time to not ruin a tire.

  4. Just completed the A Exempt driving test at the Livingston office.  Three visits--one for info and forms, one for the written tests, one for the driving test.  Yes, the written test explicitly says info from both Sections 14 and 6 will be on test.  Missed 2 on each one...set up the drive test ONLINE (only way) and showed up hour early--got the test started 50 mins earlier than scheduled, was really easy except for my nervousness.  Tester was courteous and a full-fledged CDL examiner, some talk about larger trucks and we were off. First item--check all lights/flashers--then pull into rear section or DL office parking lot and execute a u-turn WITHOUT hitting a curb (was told any curbing and it's a fail) then lined up with curbing in open area of lot.  Was told to back up to his hand signals about 60-70' in a straight line--no problem and no cones to move thru.  Then out on the streets/highways for the rest of the test.   Passed, but was docked for not coming to a COMPLETE stop AFTER stopping early to enter an intersection--I stopped at a small street stop sign early like there was a large white line (no lines at this intersection) then pulled ahead without stopping again before actually entering the intersection--that was the only part he told me about.  You have to completely stop BEFORE the large white line at a marked intersection, but the "no markings" at this one threw me off.

In my opinion, the harder part of the testing is to set it up/timing for full-timers, and trepidation on my part.  In my mind, the test is really to make sure you can handle the machinery/combinations without being a hazard to yourself or others.

Now have the last step finished to be legal to run at 30,400lbs gross weight...I can quit worrying about the "inevitable lawsuit from a shyster lawyer if I was involved and an accident"  that is written about in numerous postings on many forums...

  5. I had a 55+ gal tank designed and built by KSH Products in Lake Havasu, AZ.  Previously, had an RDS tank/toolbox in front of the Retrax canister, but the area behind the tank was dead space and unreachable without taking the cover off to clean it out.  Now the tank fits under the cover canister and does not stick out as far as the RDS did. Also had a small pump wired into the upfitter switch so it pumps fuel over, not gravity.  Now have 55 + 48 gal on the 450 and can easily go 700 miles between fillups, if needed. Best feature is ability to shop for diesel prices when in CG and refuel when not hitched.  Yes, still have to stop more often for us and dogs to have restroom breaks...

  6. I have a similar type (looks identical, off-brand) that has worked well for several years, but I only use it maybe once/twice a year at the house. Sounds to me like a restriction in the freon flow to the back fingers, and I don't think these units are serviceable. Too expensive to be a throwaway, tho. And, CW would probably kill the other row, also.

Perhaps turning it upside down for a period and see if it gets any better after that. I would think any refrigeration service company could take a look at it, but that cost will come close to a new unit cost. Have you looked online for a Dometic manual?

    Sorry can't help any more...

    Joe
