At this point, it might be best to install a whole new harness, especially if you're finding corrosion at multiple locations.

Just to be clear...are we talking about an N14 or an ISX? Might want to get your hands on a wiring diagram and identify every single ground that comes off that electrical system. It seems as though every time someone messes with the wiring you have some success. Biggest mistake is to assume that you only need to clean battery and engine grounds. Always cringe when someone says they replaced the "bad" pins. What criteria did they use to define "bad"?

Volvo dealership just south of Austin on I35. However, I wouldn't travel I35 between the hours of 0400 and 0355. 😀

Great lesson to be learned here. Congrats on getting it figured out. Very, very glad to hear you didn't have to go rooting around in the harness.

LOL...could easily see that happening on I-10 between Beaumont, TX and Lafayette, LA. What a cluster.

Yeah, that spindrift guy knows a bit about Cummins.............😜
Thanks, Rick. I hope it will be that easy.

First Kenworth with a Cummins was in 1933. A 100 HP Cummins HA-4 engine.
Mine is Kenworth with a 500 HP Cummins ISX 😁 They are still a good choice.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner! 😆

Check ALL grounds first, not just the battery.

Does anyone know exactly what the failures were?

Aw-rite, if we're gonna start listing best ever restaurants, then the rule has to be "No Chains", Mom & Pop joints only (well, maybe Aunts & Uncles too.) AND...In keeping with the theme of the forum, there must be sufficient room to turn one of these beasts around and park. Access to whatever fuel island exists (If Any) is NOT a consideration!!!
I'm trying to get the DW to see the HDT as just a little bigger than our dually and you go ahead and call it a "beast". Not what I want her to be reading. Baaad Paulie.

infoshot...I'm unable to view your vid. Had you thought about a J bar set-up?

We have a rear kitchen and we love it! Its our 3rd fiver, and we consider it the best floor plan we have ever had. And its the best of both worlds, as we have large rear windows across the entire back of the rig, above the sink and counter tops.
I looked at a YouTube vid of your rig. Very Nice!

I guess I've not read the info about the negatives on rear kitchens. I admit I have not been looking for the info, but now you have me curious. What seems to be the most common complaint about it? I have a NuWa Hitch Hiker 2 with RK at 30'. I dont know how it tows yet, so I am going to follow your thread now with interest. I would think tank location would be more of a concern than appliance weight and food storage, but perhaps, as I too am a newbie, I am not seeing the bigger picture. Could it be the usual dinette slide out that usually is part of the RK that is a common issue?
I'm just guessing here but maybe one of the "knocks" that folks have on the RK is the same one that folks express about our FL. Many people prefer to have scenic views available to them with the living space in the rear.

Come down to Tampa for the RV show and Danielle would be happy to talk to her. That would be a nice winter "vacation".
Jack...thanks for the offer. We'll have to see what the calendar has in store for us.

When I did my research and suggested an HDT she had that "deer in a headlight look" but that quickly changed to a grin.
Let's hope this is the case as my DW is of Scottish heritage.

I'm coming off an absolutely TERRIBLE day, yesterday. I went down to the Jersey shore to take a look at 2ready2roll's Volvo 630 that is for sale...just to look, (someone is going to get themselves one sweet truck.) Not quite ready for an HDT but I'm absolutely convinced that this is the safest and best route for us to take. Came home and spoke to my DW about the truck and she said, "We will NEVER buy a truck that big!" I'm planning on attending the East Coast Rally with her to talk with more HDT folks but I certainly hope that yesterday's experience isn't a harbinger of things to come.

Jack...As a Wannabee, this has been one of the absolute best reads I've found. Thanks to you and the other members of this Forum who have contributed the information. I have been lurking on the MDT threads but now I see myself spending much more time viewing the HDT info. After a recent conversation with Gregg Shields, I think this is where I'll stay.

I agree and I'll stay out of the granny lane all day long in order to take the lane of least resistance; the center lane on a three lane road. Four wheelers and their odd merging habits keep me in the center lane as much as possible. However, safety and courtesy dictate that you stay out of the hammer lane (again, a three lane road) unless you're passing another vehicle.
