  1. Brad whatever you decide to buy make sure you go sit in them before you purchase. Bigger dealerships will have lots of seats that are plumbed with air so you can see how they feel. I was pretty set on the elites a few years ago. When we went to look my wife fell I love with the Bostrom Wideride with memory foam and a bunch of other stuff. At that point wouldn’t have mattered if I wanted the elites or not. Anyway you can get a really good feel before you purchase.

I took some photos while my lovely assistant held a tape measure. Send me a pm with your email address and I will send the pics.  They are of the basic l-w-h dimensions of one seat w/o cushion, l-w of the table, and space between dinette seats.

PM sent. Thank you very much for your help

  3. We have a Solitude 377MBS. We purchased new 3 years ago. Prior to that has a DRV Mobile Suites that was very high quality, especially running gear. Fit and finish and even overall construction is not as heavy or nice as our DRV. However, for our family the setup was very nice. We have pulled it several thousand miles and enjoyed every minute of it. I will second Grand Design customer service. They are outstanding. We have had very few issues but have yet to pay a dime for any of them. I do not have an issue doing repairs. Grand Design has provided new parts such as water pump and even a new pin box head when I had issues with the rubber dampeners that came factory. I would purchase their product again. We are in fact considering a momentum 397 right now. I should also note that we lived full time in ours for 6 months last year with a family of 5.

Did you get your measurements?  We have that dinette, and we will be out there, (struggling with RVS cameras) today.  I can get measurements for you.

I did not. Would appreciate anything you have. Thank you

May want to use a table that has collapsible legs.

The post design limits the usefulness of the table and takes up precious flat floor space.

I had not thought of that. Thank you. Table will be custom sized I suspect. I will check to see what my options are for fold down hardware and mounting.

Hey Tom, do you still have the heater/air con box on the passenger side? Build it to cover the box, then mirror for the driver's side.

I do still have all of that intact. That is a good point. This is the main reason I am looking at the dinette compared to just a sofa is the space the HVAC stuff takes up on the passenger side.

  7. I am starting the winter projects in the truck and this year is revamping the sleeper. I don’t have a Volvo. Mine is a KW T2000. Up until now I have had a jacknife sofa that has sat on the lower bunk for my girls. They are now to tall to sit behind the cabinets and have any leg room so I am going to remove the bottom bunk completely. I have two options. I can build another sofa base or put in a dinette. The girls saw a dinette at the WCR and are pushing me that direction. There are three of them so I am a little outnumbered. I was curious if anyone that had a dinette could take some measurements for me. Just curious on depth and height really as width will be determined by my sleeper depth. I will probably just build the table on post similar to in a toyhauler garage that mount in floor. If anyone has any other ideas I am open. Appreciate any help. Thx Tom

  8. Thx for all the replies. I have an extended stay kit that I have never installed. Been packing it for years. It is basically a Tee that goes between the tank and the regulator. Need to find a longer extension hose and I think I can make that work. I was contemplating putting a changeover valve between the two 100 lb tanks but think this is overkill. If I am thinking through this correctly when the big tank runs out it should switch back over to the 30 lb tank in the trailer. That would let me know it is time for a refill. At least that is my thoughts right now.

  9. I have an opportunity for work that is going to allow me to have a little freedom. With that said we will be selling our home and living in the RV for a few months. Right now through the end of the year. We will not be in the harshest of environments for the new job but it will still be winter. We will be in Tri Cities Washington.

I have two 100lb propane tanks that I want to plumb in to be able to save on trips to the filling station. I also want to put an automatic change over valve between the 100lb tanks so I can tell when one is empty and just go fill it when needed. So, here is my question. If I plumb in line with the existing tanks with like a Sturgis fitting I would be going through 2 regulators. My dual stage change over currently on the trailer as well as the one plumbed between the two 100lb tanks. Is this a problem?  Am I overthinking this?  Is there an easier way or something I am missing?

I posted here cause y’all are pretty creative 🙂 even though this is not technically HDT related.

    Thanks, Tom

  10. I will post in classifieds as well but have a basically brand new Gearmaster II that I am going to sell. I had it in my 99 Volvo with a 10 speed manual when I first got it. There is no doubt it helped me learn to shift quickly. I sold the Volvo and never put it in the KW. Price is $500 OBO. They are $1000 new. PM me if interested or you would like more info.

  11. I was the same as Chad. My T2000 ate cab air bags. I always place blocks. Between the cab and the frame when sitting. I have not replaced a bag in the past 4 years since I have started this. I use a 4x4 block cut to length. Just remember to remove them before traveling or they can really get stuck under the cab. Ask me how I know 😳

  12. I have two 5’ sections of Volvo frame rail if anyone is in need to extend your frame. This was for my 99 610 truck. They are square cut on both ends as I just flipped them over and bolted to my frame on that truck. They are located in Snohomish Wa, north of Seattle and free if they can help someone else. Otherwise I will just be sending to the scrap pile.

Yeah we are going miss visiting with you and all the good friends we have made in your fine country. This has been the most frustrating year that I can remember not being able to travel anywhere. Please say hi to everyone from us...have a great time at the rally and stay safe

We will miss you for sure Rick. Jodi was pretty sad that you and your bride will not be here. (I was sad too). We rolled in Saturday and it was raining like crazy. We stopped by the truck wash you mentioned but no go until Monday. Guess we will try again then. Take care of yourself and hopefully we will cross trails soon.

Well, the closure of the USA/Canada border was extended today to at least June 21/2020 so I will miss the WCR for the first time. Sad day and we will miss visiting with all our American friends! 🙁

We will miss you Rick. Was really looking forward to seeing y’all again.

They’re on the outside because that was easy, no notching deck plate. i was thinking to finish it up like a flatbed trailer, with flat bar run outside the stake pockets.

Inside the outer rails would have been cleaner, though.  I think i would have had to use heavier material to prevent them getting deformed from ratchet straps.

Run the flat bar on the outside of stake pockets for sure. That is how I did mine and I can not tell you how nice it is to be able to hook a strap anywhere on the side and have it right where I need it.
