  1. We have Labs 4 and 2.  We started out with leaving them in a crate while we left for a few hours at a time. We love our dogs but we are not those people who have to have our dogs with us 24/7. If we are going to be gone a long time then we use a local Kennel. We do all of the Kennel research in advance.

They are great travelers in the the truck and camping. We do not have a way to monitor the inside while we are out and about but those monitoring devices look good.

Depending on where you are going in California (I live in NORCAL) the weather isn't to bad one way or the other unless you are in the mountains or dessert. We were in 115 degrees for a week once and never left the dogs alone.

I was doing some research on both of these items.

The Motorola seems to be $25 a month or $180 per year and doesn't have as many 1 star reviews as the other one.

The Marcell is $5 a month but has a bunch of one star reviews from September 2019 for the service being inoperable. Maybe that is fixed now.

You can't put a price on pet safety but $25 a month is a little steep.

    Good luck.

  2. I live in Antioch, CA (Norcal in the Eastbay) We bought a house with a lot size of 13,000 SF 3 years ago. Our 2 neighbors have even bigger lots. But that's it everyone else is 5K-7K SF lots. We have Owls that live in the trees on our lots. It's pretty amazing to see and hear them. We also have Hawks and Coyotes aplenty around us. A beautiful Hawk was perched on our patio roof recently and we had a "Birdseye" view from our bedroom window. As someone said there is so much building now on what used to be acres and acres of open land these critters have no where to go.

We've seen skunks, moles and rabbits as well.

I hope to see more when we hit the road.

I clearly remember our one and only visit to the Oasis RV Park.  It was (and probably still is) a very nice park.  While checking in they asked us if we preferred a small pull through or larger back in site.  The lady at the desk then cautioned us that the back in site was next to I-15 and traffic noise was higher there.  I discovered that it really did not matter about the highway noise because we were directly under the flight path of airplanes departing McCaran International Airport.  About every 30 seconds a jumbo jet flew over us at what seemed to be about 50 feet elevation on full takeoff power.  All of our visits to the Las Vegas area since then have been to places along Boulder Highway.

    Safe Travels...

    Oh sh#%^.....

    thanks

I just went and read all of the Yelp Reviews. Lots of great reviews. Very little negativity on plane noise but some.  Most negativity was on dog breed restrictions. Go figure.

Thanks again for the heads up.

Aren't generators like insurance.  You need it, but never (usually) know when and where you do, you're glad to have it.  I have a generator and we never take the RV out without it.  You can never be sure when the time will come, and in my situation, it could be life-saving.

Agreed. I have 2 Honda 2000s and have never used them. I bought them on an Affirm no interest loan. 12 equal payments.
but I have them if I need them.

That is incorrect. A guy sent me $46 for a harness that I make and sell. After Pay Pal fees I received $44.37. Sending it this way, the buyer has recourse and can dispute for several reasons. Sending it as friends and family there are no fees taken out on the receivers end. The sender will pay fees if paid by credit card. Anything from your bank is free.

I have Zelle through my banks. There is no recourse as it is basically a wire transfer. If you send it to a wrong person or a wrong amount, there is not recourse. Unless the receiver of the funds sends you back the funds.

I can send and receive with Paypal and no fee either way.  If not enough funds in my Paypal account it will pull from my checking account which is free.   Using credit cards attached to your account is different.

Not familiar with CASH app.  How does this work?  My buddy and I go bowling.  At the end, he pays the tab with his credit card and says I owe him $12.50.  So, do I just hand him my phone. or what?  That's what I would do with real cash, just hand it to him.

Maybe your being funny but then again maybe not. Yes, most of these Aps have a bar code you bring up. Your friend can scan your barcode and BOOM! he has his money.

Some people have no need for these Aps but it is very convenient when buying and selling as appose to cash. I use Venmo, Zelle, and Paypal for my rustic wood business. I simply tell people I'm giving them the cash price so if they use paypal then the fee gets added to the price. We can also take CC. Same scenario. If someone squacks at the fee then for $20 i will eat it.

In hindsight its prob good he got pulled over and fined. Its wakened him to the fact hes short on truck. And not safe for obvious reasons.

This is so true. $208 is couch change compared to what a bigger tow vehicle is going to cost.

Ughh! I just read that Express Scripts copays will increase again January 1st.

    Generics $7.00 to 10.00,  non-generic $24.00 to 29.00,  non-formulary $53.00 to 60.00

And an increase could be possible each year through 2027 due to a law passed in 2018.

I hear ya. I'm 45 miles from an Airforce base. It might be time for me to get some of my prescriptions there. But then again $7 to $10 for a 90 day prescription that shows up in my mail box isn't a bad deal.

My daughter who is 34, due to her disability she is covered, has a prescription approved for $53 every 3 months which is $1000 month if not covered. So no complaints there.

He was on his way to scales. After I told him that DRV will put him way overweight on his drive axle. He was prob overweight before in his cedar creek. I told him he needed a DRW. But there are those that have to learn the hard way. In the end 208.90 for over weight and 78 for faulty equip. Costly but not as costly as a big accident.

If he would have done proper checks on his rig to make sure he was ready to roll then most likely he would have not been stopped in the first place.....

Dam a few weeks ago I got a $237 ticket for making a left turn 23 minutes before the sign said I could (I didn't see the sign but everyone is a liar). Only $208 in Oklahoma for being overweight? It should be triple that......

  10. I to am a lifelong CA resident. In less than 3 years we will be leaving. I do believe CA is money hungry but I don't think the state is broke. With the high gas tax, property taxes, high sales tax, CRV, $970 to register my truck, $560 5th wheel, $500 for my car, and now you pay a fee for lumber, stains, paints, and just about anything else at a hardware store. The bridges are $7 now, fastrak, etc..... I know CA supports a lot of different groups of folks but they have so many revenue streams I can't possibly believe they are broke. The money is going somewhere. The surplus is over $21 billion. And they are very money hungry. They are working on more taxes......

But when I moved here from WA State it didn't take long for me to get a letter in the mail to register my vehicles or be subject to fines. We camped at many campgrounds in NORCAL and I have never saw a census person. I have had them knock on my door recently getting ready for the upcoming census.

Thanks for the replies! I am all in but when I told my wife that it would be a few month trip she is now having second thoughts!! I am not sure she can stay away from the grand babies that long! I have time to convince her maybe take our oldest with us!

    Thanks

Grand babies are the reason why we went from the class of 2017 to 2022. we have 4 and one on the way at 55 years old. when the oldest graduates high school in 2022 we are out. We can always come back and visit. It will be hard but I'm not postponing anymore.

An Alaska trip would be awesome.

We bought this MH from Camping World in 2013. Because it had been stored in a barn for 6 years we also bought their ESC. Turned out both were good sound purchases. There are a lot of doomsayers on the internet, my take is, because they do not shop at CW there is more room for me to overnight in their parking lots, usually with free electricity.

I agree with you for the most part. NOT EVERYONE has or will have a negative experience with CW. But statistically negative experiences will get posted way more than positive ones.

Hi Joe, thanks for the tip on NG insurance.  I called them today, went through the numbers but they couldn’t beat the current Progressive coverage that I have.

I also contacted an independent agent in Port St. Joe, FL and she basically said the same thing; she’s writing a lot of Progressive policies as they’re the cheapest around.

I totally agree. I pay for my insurance annually and it's due. I shopped around and no one can beat progressive with the current coverage or even less coverage than I currently have. Another year with progressive. We will try again next year.

  14. You know the old saying you can polish a turd and it's still a turd.

I've done very little business with CW other than buying a few items here and there. Like someone said its fun to window shop there to see all the cool stuff you might not have thought about. I've made one online purchase from them in the last year and I had to return it. There are many other online retailers out there to make purchases from. Also plenty of mom and pop RV repair service places that are very competitive and you get a more personal experience.

As far as buying an RV from them read all of the negative comments. Even more so read the ones that read the reviews and still bought from CW and regretted it all because they thought the savings was going to out weigh the hassle and disappointment.

We signed up in Fall '16 for 4 years (Zone pass 2 zones) for $425. Then added Trails collection when they rolled out that program. My plan is to not renew next Fall and go a year without it. I'm using a "bunching" strategy and cramming in a couple of big trips before this last year runs out. (Unlimited stays!). Will stick mostly around the Midwest for the 20/21 camping season and use Escapee parks. Then will probably buy a Zone pass for the Northwest and Southwest in the Spring of 2021 and explore the West coast. 14 day stays are great, we don't need 21 or 28 nights in one spot, so I'm leaning against buying a lifetime membership when our zone passes expire.

The trails collection added over 100 parks to our "menu". It sure has worked out well being able to stay in the NE and SE zone plus all the 55+ parks in Texas and Arizona.

From my experience make sure you give them notice in writing well before your expiration date or they will charge you again.

It's amazing how many people I have watched through my tinted windows knowing they can't see me. MANY will allow their pet do it's business then look around to see if anybody saw it then just walk away. Picking up after your pet is simply a part of being a responsible pet owner just like seeing that they are properly fed and protected.

Many? So more don't pick up then do pick up through your tinted glasses?
