  1. Ignore the dry weight in the brochures.  Work form GVWR that is on the sticker on the front left corner of the 5er.  For estimating loaded pin weight of the trailer, use 22% of the GVWR, although it can run higher.  We were at 23%.

You might do much better looking at higher end 5ers that are 3 to 5 years old.  It will save you a lot on depreciation.  These RV depreciate like a rock the first year.

  2. We were ready to get our RSV vaccine and I came down with what appeared to be a cold.  Looks like from the symptoms, I had a mild case of RSV.  Two days later my wife came down with the same thing.

After two weeks we are doing good, but we are at week 3 and still coughing up some gunk.  Luckily, we both had mild cases and little effect on our oxygen level.

So get your RSV vaccination as well as flu and COVID.

Direct wire works good for the seller but leaves the buyer out to dry. Would you really feel good if you were the buyer? Then what if the RV has a lien on it? There is more to it than direct wire transfer.

I make a copy of both sides of the title to provide to the buyer so that he can see the RV does not have a lien.   If there is a lien, I let the bank handle it.  You might also be able to get a local dealer to handle all of the paperwork for a fee.

  4. I check it daily and have seen a very definite downturn in post.  Most of the post seem to be in the HDT forum.  Even RV is posting less.

I have also noted a downturn in the posting on RV.net, iRV@.net is still functioning pretty well.  It seems more and more are going to Facebook and Instagram.

  5. RV, we enjoyed a few months without the mask while shopping and any indoor venue.  It was nice, but with the uptick in COVID and now RSV, it is back to the mask.  We choose to stay healthy and alive.

We had been waiting to have Medicare cover the RSV vaccine, but over a week ago, we both came down with RSV.  Luckily, we both had mild cases, but it is stretched out over a week.  From the symptoms, we are pretty sure it was RSV as it matched the symptoms.  We are both doing better and will get the RSV vaccine in a week or so when we are over this.

The first of October we plan to get our COVID booster and flu shots.

We know several that subscribe to the COVID anti-vac theories, and they have had COVID more than once.

Just stay healthy and enjoy life.

  6. The RVs that "have: internet included really don't.  They have something like the Winegard Air 360 which is a poor excuse for an off-air antenna.  Then you can buy an additional package to get a WiFi extender or booster.  You can also add a SIM card to get mobile carrier.

For the best and most reliable internet on the road you need Star Link.  Any that are cell-based work in some areas and don't in others.  With the cell-based Systems, you can look at T-Mobile 5g Mobile or hot spots from Verizon or AT&T.

  7. Jeffrey, maybe you need to look locally for a shelter and cooling center.  If you are retired from the military, you might check with the local VFW or DAV to see if they can assist you.  Otherwise check with area church Ministry Assistance groups.

I am sure that there are many like us that would like to help, but we worked and saved and have money set aside for us and want to be sure it will last for our lifetimes.  All we can do is give advice and try to help to supply some labor, but at 76 years old, that also is limited.
