  1. Hydrogen is less of a useful prime driver then electric, first make electric then make hydrogen ,each conversion results in a loss. Then we need to compress it like a scuba tank and if you put it in a steel tank hydrogen promptly start to migrate right through it say at a rate of 2% a month.

All the while embrittling the metal.

Hydrogen is not really a fuel - and yes I know it will burn in a I.C. engine (dumb) - but a energy storage medium.

Now imagine your wife fueling the mini van in a cloud of vapour  like a saturn 5 rocket .

honey where di d you leave the gloves?

  2. I call B.S.  on the 2000# less weight .

google the weight of a 400hp electric motor- hint over 7000#

the battery pack of the Tesla is 10000#

subtract the drive train and fuel of a semi ,engine  3000# transmission 1000# shaft and diffs ? and fuel 300 ga.

so the only way the truck is going to be light is a very exotic build material  and that is very expensive

  3. Not sure if I have enough posts yet to start a thread of my own ,so Iam just tacking a quik question on to the newby thread.

I have read the FAQ's and sticky stuff on HTD's at the top of the forum and started to check out the ad's of recommened dealers but have not been able to figure out the tranmission code #?

I would not rather call or E-mail a dealer just to find out two pedal three pedal or manual.

    Whats the secret?

I think I figured it out ,if they dont say 'auto' then look at the pictures of the interior ,most have a pic of the drivers seat area.

I can even tell the differance between autoshift and freedomline now

  5. Thank you Jim, Iam well aware of Rick and his rep,but his neck of the woods is about a 14 hour drive :-)

There is a rally in the northeastern part of the province, but dang by the time I found out about we had already made all our travel plans (north of Superior this year )

Next year I wll keep a canadian rally in our plans.

Got time, wife works 5 more years and the '99 SuperDuty soldiers on.

  6. Canadian newby here ,been lurking for years just reading and learning.

Thought I would come into the light :-)

I dont have a big trailer never will ,when the wife retires we will 'snowbird' but not fulltime ,we dont need a HTD but Iam drawn by the saftey and reasonable (cheaper) cost of these units compared to a say 1 ton pick-up , and Iam all for saving money.

If any fellow ontario'ans know of a HTD rv converter I would love to know ,someone posted a link to a outfit in alberta and may stop in when Iam out that way next, but I thought the prices were a bit steep (up to 59,000cdn)and we need some competion up here.

I wont post much as I dont have any answers and most of my questions are covered in the excellent resource in the sticky

    so thank you for that.
