  1. Just stoppin in to say Hi. We are gate guarding for a couple of months than heading to Virginia to see Ed's sister. Sorry we missed Quartsite this year. We are hoping to make it next year. We still have our bird that Jerry and Janice found. She is about as stubborn as Ed.

Now that was a nice bird, I can't believe anything could be as stubborn as Ed. Let us know when you head east and maybe we can get together.

  2. . Then just maybe I'll be able to take the little trailer out camping for a few days before I have to start getting ready to go to SC.

When you head east, plan on spending the night in Beaumont, Tx so we can meet up with you. If that is not possible, let's try to meet and have a meal together.

  3. Today started out pretty nice, sunny no wind to speek of. Then about 3 PM holy hell broke loose. The wind started blowing, the clouds roled in and the temperature plummeted. I could swear I saw an old lady riding a bicycle fly over head. I hope Freddy & Delcie stayed hunkered down and stayed at the SKP Ranch. I got a few things done this morning before the weather decided I had done enough.

Wonder if that was Jeri going by!!! Do you see a broom? I couldn't help myself, I thing the same gal came by here also, it got windy and cold here.

  4. About an hour North of MOAB is a ghost town called Thompson Springs, Utah. There is a nice RV Park called Ballard RV Park. Pull thru sites with full hookups. Close to the interstate but not that noisy. Rates are 25.00 for 30 amp and 29.00 for 50 amp. They also have few double wides that they rent out in case you have people fly in and need a place to stay. They rent ATVs and will provide guided ATV rides to see the sites. Dinosaur tracks, eggs, etc. There is a convenience store but that is all there is to shop at. JIm and Sandy are the managers and great people and live in their RV full time. I went to school with the lady that owns the park. Here is a link to the web site. http://moabrvpark.com/index.asp In case MOAB is full.

  5. Just had a great time meeting Roadhouse Charley and his lovely wife Deloris, Charley has been trying all week to set a date to get together but things kept getting in the way. Well today Janice and I a decided to go to a local Apple festival. Jeri- Washington is not the only place that grows apples. We had just got there when I got phone call from a Virginia number. I answered it and it was Charley, they had just arrived at the Apple festival also with their in-laws. We meet in front of a bunch of antique tractors (probably some Lee had driven when new)and talked for a while. Paul and Sue did not get talked about at all. We don't know where we are going to be this winter but Charley and Deloris plan on being in Fla. It was great to meet Charley and Deloris after reading their posts. Great catch Paul and Sue for getting them to join the group.

  6. Lee- Now I know why Tom Wolfe's carvings are so good, you must have taught him.

Ed and Linda- I don't know about the company you are keeping. Have fun with Terry, Jeri and Joe.

Jeri and Terry- Enjoy the San Juans and quit picking on Joe. He has always told it like it is and if Joe said it, it must be true, right? LOL

Carol- Great to hear your knee is doing better, all that kicking Steve's butt to keep him straight took a toll on it.

Joe- Ed, Linda and Terry are nice, Keep giving Jeri heck, she deserves every bit of it. Ask her what she did to me at the fair in TX.

Tom and Diane- have you went to get the petrified fish quarries yet? The Green Valley area of Wyoming is beautiful.

Paul and Sue- Stay as far away from Coldsmoke as you can, he isn't right. Now Deb is great and I have no idea how she puts up with Mike. Love both of you and hope to see you again one of these days.

Toni and Doug- Don't work too hard.

Freddie and Delcie- Tell Freddie to keep the kayak right side up, water is too cold there to do the Alaskan roll!!

Hi to everyone else in our super RV family.

  7. You never commented on my route I told you to try. Onion Creek has 27 creek crossings so you stopped a little short. The road had washed out after about 15 crossing when we rode ATV's up the creek about a month ago. But having fun is the most important thing!!

Had a nice meal and campfire with the Moab classless bunch last night. During the evening I poured the last drink out of my flask, so I guess I was flaskless, classless ( I can't even say that). We had a great pot luck, and were glad we did it last night because today the wind came up really strong. Small dogs and tumbleweeds have been blowing by all day. Carol got out before daybreak and took some last pictures of Arches with the sun rising on them, so she was glad the wind didn't pick up until she finished. We are pulling out of here on Wednesday (supposed to snow a little then), but the wind will be a lot less. We are heading for Lost Vegas (oh I know it's still there), to pick up Carol's brother and then head back to Zion for a week or so. None of us have ever been there before, so it should be fun if the weather holds out. We will definitely be back in the Moab area again as it is a lot more interesting than we thought it would be. We did drive down to Monument Valley a couple of days ago and it would have been nice to see if we hadn't been to Moab and arches already. We did venture down into the valley (glad I had the 4x4), and it was ok, but a little too commercialized for me. I was picturing camping in this vast valley, with only the coyotes and owls singing us to sleep at night. But no, all we saw was a string of broken beer bottles (thought it was quartz shining until I saw the Budweiser labels) , leading from the nearest quick stop, to the beginning of the reservation. So sad!! One really interesting drive in Moab is the road to Taylor ranch, on the Onion creek road. You can do it without a 4x4, but it's easier with one. It's East of Moab on Hw 128 about 15 miles, just past the turn off to Castle Valley (about 7 miles). There is a little sign on the HW that just says "Onion Creek". This is a dirt road that takes you back into the Onion creek canyons and fords the creek about 10 times during the trip. Photo opportunities abound, and it's a great ride to take that is not too strenuous on your equipment. We had a great time. Now to see if my lawn chairs are still in the same county. Hmmmmm Steve

  8. While in Moab, you need to drive up the Potash Road, almost straight across from the entrance to Arches NP. Need 4wd or high clearance. Road is very scenic and takes you out in Canyon Lands NP near Dead Horse Point. Kinda interesting near the top. Find Dave and Nancy and let them go with you. You also need to go eat breakfast at Red Cliffs Lodge, about 10 miles north of MOAB. Breakfast buffet for about $10.00 and it is very good. Supper is great also. They also have a John Wayne and movie musem at the lodge, free. A lot of movie have been filmed in the area and they have a lot of info on the movies.

Well, the muffler shop was a bust. After we got over there they decided they had too many jobs and couldn't get us in. We then called around and found a freightliner shop (Trans Western), that said "come on over we'll fix you up". We went over there and they sure did. A couple of clamps and a bracket (which they had to wait 30 min for) was all it took and they charged me $84. According to their sign they charged 1 hour minimum and their rate was $135, so I was pleased to get out for $84 including two parts. Nice shop and some good techs, so if you ever have trouble in Grand Junction, check them out. Because they got on the job fast, we managed to get out of GJ about 1:00 and arrived in Moab about 4. Nice scenery and great weather with 65 degrees for the high. We are now in a campsite for a month about 2 miles south of town, FHUs' for $375, so we'll be exploring this area for a while. Now I've got to find Dave & Nancy, they are hiding around here somewhere..... Steve

  9. Lee-nice to hear you are about to get on the road again. We plan on being in Crossville late Thursday night and all weekend. If you are in the area, love to meet with you.

Steve, You get out of there and stop sending all your storms this way. I just got an alert on my phone that we are under a Tornado Watch. But no warning as yet.

I have the truck now all comlete and the rental is turned in. I'm debating wheather to hook up tonight with this tornado watch in effect. If I leave in the morning I'll be running right along in front or with the storm. Maybe this 6.6 Diesel can out run it? LOL The one thing in my favor is that most storms take a left turn right about here and go farther north. However the forcast for Crossville and Kingston is for severe Thunder Storms tomorrow and the next day. And that is where I plan to stop next. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions....

Now that I've got most of the trouble taken care of, I'm actually beginning to sleep most of the night, And when I wake up to take a stroll down the hall I can go right back to sleep again. My blood pressure is starting to level out and give me consistant readings. Feels good.

Jerry and Janice: I'd love to take you two out to dinner but I don't know if I'll be stopping at the Bean Pot or not. I may drive on the Kingston so that I'll get in a little earlier the next day in NC. I'd hate to have you drive up from GA and me not be there. For some reason I'm in a little bit of a hurry now. Maybe it's because I was supposed to be at my bank two weeks ago to sign some papers. LOL If I don't get in before the bank closes on friday I won't be able to get in until Monday.

  10. We are still in Dalton,Ga at the ELKs if you want to stop and visit or spend the night. J&J

Happy Easter everybody. Hope all is well with you and family.

Today is my last day of "working" this season here in FL. Mon and Tues we pack up and Wed we head North to MI. I have looked at the weather and it is getting warmer with no below freezing temps forecasted after mid week. I was getting scared that we were leaving too early, but it will be fine. We will be parked at our usual MI spot, full hookup, friends driveway on Portage Lake, Pinckney MI. Looking forward to seeing some friends and getting Dentists and Dr appointments out of the way.

We will only there till the end of the month and then we will be volunteer camp hosting at Illinois Beach State Park, on Lake MI just north of Chicago for the summer. Our 2nd grandchild is due May 4th.

  11. I certainly know how the internet goes. Sometimes it's perfect and other times not so much. We found Mesa Solar and they also sell solar panels made in Pennsylvania. It's amazing how few solar panels are actually made in the US. Even Kyocera makes them in Mexico except for their 240W. I'm wondering what's made here anymore. We're heading over there in the morning. Thanks!

Rethinking this "Q" thing on Thursday. Has anyone looked at the weather there??? Weatherman is predicting a low of 28 degrees Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night. At least that's what the little weatherman in my phone is telling me. It's not going to be warm in Phoenix either but at least the temperature isn't supposed to drop below freezing. Ugh! :(
