    Al,

We’re fine.  This is a funny disease.  My sister is 8 years younger than me and healthy.  We spent the afternoon and had dinner with them on Sunday and she was fine.  Called me Monday afternoon at campground in town said she had 103* fever, headache, body aches.  Hit her suddenly.  Tested positive for Covid.  We immediately went into quarantine and prepared to head back to Tennessee which we did.  We remained symptom free for the two weeks.  In the meantime Donna’s mom passed away two days after us leaving.  She at least got to touch and hug her in hospice prior to our exposure.  The nursing home where she was had been locked down for six months.  My sister became very ill requiring hospitalization with viral pneumonia and treatment with Remdesivir, antibiotics, steroids, and convalescent plasma just to barely keep her off a ventilator.  She is slowly recovering but is now almost six weeks out with some continuing shortness of breath and extreme exhaustion.  Again this is the real deal. Once you’re on a vent, survival goes way down.  Thank God for a vaccine.  We will be first in line when available for our age group.

Thanks Carl for the update. I wish your sister the best.      Al

    Phil,

We’ll be back.  Unfortunately Donna’s mom passed away, so family obligations trumped anything else.  Turns out we got exposed to Covid (my sister) and had to make a hasty retreat back to Tennessee for our two week quarantine.  Has not been a “fun” year.

    Hi Carl,

I hope you and Donna are ok. When it comes to fittings, there is a local parts store for big trucks in town. There prices are better then any site online. This is where I go to get my fittings.

    Stay safe my friend,

Al,. There is different coverages.  In our case where we want coverages for the HDT and trailers,. I made sure the person I was talking to understood that we were talking about my Volvo road tractor.  With that in mind he told me I should stay with the coverage that i had last year which is GS elite.  So nothing has changed for us.  It still cost the same $149.00.

Thanks to everyone who gave their feedback from the different coverages they have.

You all stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and New Years.

    Hi Ben,

Thank you very much for the info.

Maybe send Av8r3400 a pm.  His business was or still is Auto Glass and may know if there is an alternative to the dealer.

Thanks Al, do you have an HDT hauler yourself. Maybe after we get this truck done we can meet up somewhere.

    Hi Blaine,

I have 2012 Volvo VNL 630. It's white in color. I choose to keep the truck tandem. I know of a fellow up your way that I use to work with that has a metal working shop not to far from Congress Lake. It's been a few years since I have seen him. I think his shop could be still open. He does great work. Maybe some day we could meet up. Please keep us updated on your truck.

Ask the broker to provide the S/N of the unit to you.  You can then call New Horizons directly and they will provide the build info to you, including any options that were installed at the factory.

2X. Call New Horizon and tell them your interested in this trailer. Also ask the broker that you want pictures of the the outside walls of the trailer. You want to make sure there is no problems with the fiber glass side walls. You want to make sure there is no delamination going on.

    Good Luck with you search,

Randy   I like it. How true. Hope everything is going well. We have been doing great but 2 wks ago both Shirley and I popped positive for The Virus. Never really were sick just minor cough and low level 99.4 to 100.2 temp for a couple of days. Now we are waiting to retest next week. Plan on retest day 21 of first test (1 Oct). Everything else seems to be doing fine. Are you going south this winter? If so be safe and we'll see you'll down the road.   Pat

Bit of a good twist in this whole Hayes controller thing. I emailed Hayes, explaining what's going on. I didn't sugar coat my dismay that their unit would work fine for the previous owner and weeks for me, then fail. I also indicated that there's more than just a few who have experienced failures...often consecutive. Here's their response:

    "Good morning Robert,

Thank you for contacting us and making us aware of the issue you have experienced. We appreciate your being candid about not being the original owner of the controller. If you provide the address we will overnight you a new controller for your installation and evaluation. We will include a pre-paid return label for you to send the controller in question back. After our technical team evaluates the unit we will get back with you on the results.

Regardless of the threads on RV forums, our intentions are to 100% support our products. We take pride in customer satisfaction. With that said, we are not perfect and we do have units that fail in the field periodically.

I look forward to receiving your reply so that we can move toward a solution to your problem.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,  "

Yup, taking them up on their offer. I'll keep you'all posted.

    Hello Robert,

Right now, it sounds like Hayes willing to help out. Product support is a big thing for me. Wish you the best on the repairs.

Pre-rally party has begun.  If your ears are burning, it's because you're not here.

Steve and Gail hosted a nice birthday party last evening for my best friend/bride.   She took the teasing in stride.

Shock preferences for a vnl780. Any one brand better than the other? And prices what do you all run and why?

    Hi runaway,

I have a little info for you. My son's next store neighbor is a manager of a shop that works on truck and school bus suspensions plus also doing alignments on this equipment. He told me that gas filled shocks work just fine on are trucks. He also said that Monroe Gas Magnum shocks are a good choice. I hope this helps.
