    Howdy JGWALES,

There has been a gathering of HDT's in the LTVA ( BLM ) camp ground a few miles south of Quartszite at the "La Posa South" LTVA, for the last 6 years.  Most camp in an area about a half mile southeast of the dump/water/trash station.  We have had as many 26 rigs at one time and there are usually 5-10 that spend most of the winter there.  With luck we will arrive around mid December barring trees falling on our home again like last year.

  5. What is the size of your "coach" ?  I saw an article that said I can heat a house with a candle if I put it under a clay flower pot .  My 5th wheel has a furnace and it Is ducted thru the floor in every room. The blower motor is large to move all the air.  I am considering a diesel heater for a sleeper area not a 38 ft 5th wheel.

  6. I called a dealer the other day. Asked about their services. One dealer did not do any engine work Just DOT  inspections 100.00

Then for any repairs of any kind 265.00 per hour. Then I contacted a Shop that would do engine work .250.00 per hour from start to finish for ANYTHING.

  7. We just finished our 2500 mile trip with standard Bumper pull with the Volvo. Followed like a dream and yes we did not even know it was back there. Drove it at 58-65 mph not 75 mph.  No damage from bouncing or shaking.  Only one thing to remember .. we parked at home unhooked the bumper pull . Started up the HDT and went to pull away . The trailer was hooked back up to the ball on the hitch. WHY ? well air bags filled back up and raised the HDT back into the trailer ...

I have a Detroit series 60 . Seems like suddenly I have white smoke at start up for a few moments and today slight for 4 miles. Does not get hot and runs great. has anyone had experienced this before ?  I was thinking of going into dealer and do a complete checkup on  truck. I was told it's about 300.00 to check it out

Just finished a 2500 mile one way trip. Only smoked at cold / cool  start up have not used any oil or water.

  9. If we stay anywhere at no charge we always try to do a purchase at the business. More and more these days there is the Entitled Generation or Entitled mindset. We are not in that group  While we have been several no charge locations there are often loud and messy people putting generators or tables  and more in the parking lot. We NEVER DO THAT and never park near them.  Just a simple respectful way to travel.

  11. Its funny the price differance between 1500 and 90 . Once i had a flat tire on our car. Took it in the shop . I was quoted 11.00 to fix ,but wheni returned they wanted 65.00  they said there was rust on the wheel and they had to clean it to repair the flat tire.

Installed the "Cross Fire" tire pressure monitor/equalizers on the drive tires last weekend. Watched a few "You Tube" videos before starting and learned a few things. One of the things I wish they had mentioned is how to install them on the Aluminum Wheels with those tiny holes. I'd replaced the Aluminum wheels on my other truck due to the size of the holes and a "Valve Core" issue on one of my early trips North From Florida. Had a TPMS alarm, stopped removed the TPMS to put the pressure gauge on it to fine the "True" pressure and when I let the gauge come off the stem all I heard was a HISS,SSS,SSSSSS.  Could not get my hands or my valve core tool into the stem to address the Hiss, so a $1xx service call later the outer tire was removed, the valve core exchanged and I was back on the road. A couple of years later I put on my first set of Cross Fires. They have been on the trailer since she was new in 2013. May need to replace them when I mount up the new tires in the next few weeks.

Now for the solution to the inner wheel stem issue with the small holes and the 1/2 inch nut you need to tighten down on the stem.

A 3/8 drive 1/2 inch tubing Crows Foot that my local Auto parts store had hanging where I could see it.

From the You Tube videos I learned about anti Seize and Dielectric grease on a few fasteners. I didn't have a supply and neither did the shop, so that's why I made the trip to the parts store. I added the suggestion in the comments of one of the videos I watched. Haven't seen a response yet from the content creator.

Thanks for the post. I want to put a monitor system on my truck. But have Aluminum Wheels. I was under the impression that i just screwed on 6 sensors on each valve stem. Sounded easy enough.
