  1. We are leaving for Alaska in a couple of days. I purchased a weboost Drive 4G-M booster from Wilson Electronics. All four lights light up. I used it at my cabin which is a very marginal site. Generally, a 1X connection. No bars showing. No boost showed up. I was not concerned since the signal is so marginal there and probably a reflection from the tower. However, I at our sticks and bricks house we have three bars service on my wife's IPHONE 6 and -102 db on the metering program on my IPHONE 5s without the eboost. When I turn it on, NOTHING HAPPENS, the three bars service remains at three bars and the -102 db reading on my IPHONE remains right there. That number did fluctuate down to -104 as I moved around the truck, but I suspect that is just measurement error. Anybody have any ideas that I can fix today!! Wilson has had good customer service previously, but now we have run out of time for swaps and those type of solutions. Looks like a long trip to Alaska with no service!! Thanks.
  2. Here are my thoughts on drinking water while camping: http://usbackroads.blogspot.com/2010/06/cool-clear-clean-water.html I am probably the only person on this forum that drinks unfiltered water from streams on occasion but not from my RV water tank!!! These are the two filters I use: https://www.rei.com/product/866422/platypus-gravityworks-water-filter-system-4-liter?cm_mmc=cse_PLA_GOOG-_-8664220001&CAWELAID=120217890000856011&lsft=cm_mmc:cse_PLA_GOOG https://www.rei.com/product/872130/katadyn-base-camp-pro-10l-water-filter?cm_mmc=cse_PLA_GOOG-_-8721300001&CAWELAID=120217890000782864&lsft=cm_mmc:cse_PLA_GOOG
  3. I had to laugh when I read your comment. Before I retired I was sitting in a retirement seminar and the presenter mentioned all the items on your list. I looked at my t-shirt, jeans, and sandals and wondered what I could do to "lower" my clothing costs in retirement?? There are advantages to being a Forester! Then there was that awful commute of 1/2 mile that I finally got rid of in retirement. In our case, our costs went UP significantly in retirement. That was a good thing. It meant we were having more fun.
  4. We are still holding at 50-50 in investments. 50% stocks and 50% Ginnie Mae's and Treasuries. Most of the stock money is in oil and gold. Rest of it in high dividend stocks.
