  1. Late to party... in 1996 retired with 1996 FL60 Freightliner and 1991 HH 40ft fifth. Traded trailer in 1998 for 38ft HH and began looking for ideal spot to settle. After many trips around country, nothing met desires. Wife was a programmer with Texas Instruments and while in Yuma for winter in 1999, got a call from old boss and asked her to contract to get ready for the feared 2k coming up. Got thru that and and made many SKP events. Did not do any CG gigs but managed a few self storage jobs. Still in same trailer and truck, do have a 2011 Hyundai for everyday use.

  2. This may not be too timely, but, when we were still working decided we were going full time. We had been in a used (forget what) for a couple years. We began using vacations to visit the brands that seemed, at the time to be better units. We toured factories from WY, KS, MO, IN and a couple of others. After observing build methods, finished products and interest from personnel, we bought our first NuWa Champagne, 40 ft. in 1991. Ordered and picked it up from the factory and it became our home when we retired in 1996. In 1998 while spending winter in Yuma, looked at a 1998 Champagne 38ft.

    Since we had been to factory several times, we ordered one with several changes. Today, we are still in same trailer, but with good bones, we did some interior changes (updated) and will be for forseeable future. We are currently in a park next to a Camping World and after touring some of the "upscale" units, we would not trade. Just our opinion.

  3. In the old days , NuWa in Chanute Ks was the go to for 5th wheels, nowdays, no clue, our '98 HH hasn't been in a shop in over 15 years. If something I can't do, mobile techs have been great.

  4. You do know you can manually move the route you had the software made.. I let BaseCamp make a route from A to B and then review it. If I want to change any part of the route, that can be done by dragging the route where I want it. Play around with it and you will find it is fairly easy to get what you want.

  5. This happened a few years ago. Went thru Livingston on 69 enroute to Houston. FL60 Freightliner and 38' HH, around 20-30 miles S of Livingston, running 62-64, left front tire had massive explosion, instantly moved me to N bound lane. Luckily I stayed off truck brakes and applied some trailer brake, then easing a little truck brake moved back into S bound lane. Someone was looking out for me, no N bound traffic at that time. 

    Got to shoulder, set out cones, called Road Service and 4 hours later continued on to Houston. Left headlight completely gone, bumper extension had sheared bolt, banged up left rim but service guy managed to straighten it. Could have been worse.

  6. Orca, that's know as a bypass filter. Been using one for 23 years on a Cat. First time I changed the bypass filter it looked like sludge, that's what the filter caught after being through the regular filter. Highly recommend one.

  7. I use a plastic milk crate with a 1x2 slid thru the lower openings and a utility light with clamps and a heat lamp for source. Then take a sheet of insulating foil, wrap around crate leaving top open. slide crate under and locate where drain valve is. Should not take too long for heat directed to bottom of tank covering to thaw valve.
