  1. I am not optimistic as I presume that they will say take it to one of our nearest dealers and have an authorized dealership look into it. Of course they will not pay for it (a) and how does a full-timer just pick up and drop off the coach while someone is digging around one's house (b).

But I certainly will let you know. Gurgle, gurgle. Glad I have Tums.

Might it be that the previous owner of your RV did that in an effort to make that noise go away? That would seem to indicate that the problem is not a new one.

I suppose anything is possible, but common sense and knowing the basic physics would argue against that. I have contacted Thor to inquire of them what they think.

    Thanks.

  3. Let me say at the outset, I appreciate those of you who opined and gave me good advice on what should be a very straight forward plumbing problem. Well, maybe not so straight forward. I have three vents in my 40' Class A motorhome.

    1. Two roof top vents. One for a half bath and the other for the main bathroom which includes a shower and washer/dryer. Upon inspection both of these roof-top vents had sealant or glue covering the hole.
    2. A vent for the double-bowl sink in the kitchen which is part of the slide, so the vent is inside the cabinet.

So after cleaning the "gunk" (that is a plumbing term...I wish) out of the two roof top vents the gurgling did not go away. The vent inside the kitchen cabinet is new and is working fine. I know that because before replacing it the kitchen sink(s) did not drain and thus the minute I replaced it...woosh, the water evacuated the sinks.

    So the "annoying mystery" continues.

Rest assured I have consulted an RV dealer-friend, but at the moment I have no desire (or intention) to call an RV-repair person to come trouble shoot this for two reasons, maybe three: (1) I am too cheap, (2) it is only annoying and (3) I am hoping that this "network" or RV sympathizers can help me.

    Happy New Year and thanks.

  4. Good morning and thanks. The gurgling started before and we (I) thought it was attribuable to something else. Just climbed up on the roof and indeed there is a vent pipe (cover) directly over the area of the shower and washer.

I took the cover off. Not being a plumber, not sure what to do next. There certainly is a lot of caulking, etc. (which is a good thing, but wonder if I need to cut all of that caulking and try to remove/replace the vent? That is something that is way beyond my paygrade.

    Next steps?

  5. Good morning and Happy New Year!

We own a 40' Class A motor home, with 1 1/2 baths, dishwasher, washer and dryer. Plumbing should be pretty straight forward except for the "gurgling." I put in a new vent (for the double-bowl sink) which is in the slide, cleaned the trap and have no apparent backups in any of the sinks, showers...BUT.

When the clothes washer is discharging or when my wife is in the shower, the gurgling in the kitchen sink is loud. I have put drain cleaner (Pequa) in all of the sinks, shower.

It doesn't seem to me that the gurgling is normal.

Anyone have any knowledge or experience of this "noise."

    Thanks.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  6. Thank you all for your comments. Here is what I heard:

    1. Get over it!
    2. Keep the rig clean with swiffer, vacuum, etc. We do that, never ending battle (like any home). Having moved out of a 1600 Sq. foot home, maybe it is just the closeness and relative size of the 40'foot motor home there is only so many places it can go-as opposed to a "house."
    3. We are obsessing (well maybe a bit) but the other thing that makes it more obvious is the  kind of flooring we have. We have a beautiful ceramic tile floor (no carpeting) and as opposed to carpeting that "hides" some of this it just sits there.
    4. So we will perhaps buy some filters and there should not be any down-side to those .

Thank you all. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  7. morning Barb and thanks. I think the issue really is the dust, hair, etc. The litter-thing is not a big deal, it is more just the sheer dust and because we are in a small environment, it is more obvious. I remember 41-years ago when Peggy and I got married that vacuuming was in MY job description, but this is crazy.

But we are fine, I didn't even want cats, but we have Winnie and Gus and they are great travel companions (albeit annoying).

"Swiffer for tables, door jams, etc., and vacuum regularly and that is it." YEP!

    Happy New Year and Thanks.

BTW where in the desert? As full-timers, we are trying to figure out where to drop anchor. We have been in San Diego for December and headed to Palm Desert for two months.

  8. We are not in a dusty community. We are in Chula Vista, but it doesn't seem to matter. We have told our two cats, they are not REALLY the issue. We are full-timers, in a 40 foot class A motorhome home. We have dust. Litter box? Cats fur and/or general dust. Indeed when the heater comes on it blows stuff around. We take showers, but it is a constant battle.

When we run into problems or have questions, we turn to our friends who have been full-timers for 10 years. We said what do we do about the dust? They said, get over it.

Any suggestions? Air filters? or should we just "get over it."

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  9. My wife Peggy and I are FT RVers . We have been on the road for 18 months and like many of you, I have struggled with internet service. We currently use our IPHONE's Hot Spot for internet connectivity. Suffice to say that the the WiFi networks on our various RV resorts are variable.

I have asked this question before (sorry) but need to ask it again. What is the best way to be able to stream movies ?

My latest research is as follows.

    1. purchase a Winegard Extender $350
    2. Buy a data plan from either AT&T or Verizon. (monthly rate plans)

We have on occasion used our phone's HOTSPOT which has 30GB, but that depends on a strong cell-signal. The idea behind buy the Wingard is that it is mounted on the roof and thus has a better chance to to get good service.

We love being on the road, but also want to watch movies (especially) during this COVID period.

    Thanks.

  10. Leaving Clarksboro NJ heading to Topping, VA.  which means going around Baltimore and DC. Thinking about taking beltway around both cities (not the most direct)...but avoids most of the traffic.

    Any advice.

  11. Good morning. I have a 2016 Thor Tucany, but I imagine this question might apply to others.

At the front of our diesel pusher there is no real lighting over the dash. While there are cabinets in front and we have two "dash fans" there is no lighting. I wondered if anyone has seen and/or installed any lighting so at night that area of the coach can be illuminated. We used to own a HR and there was an outlet and we used to put a decorative light on the dahs which was nice and cozy. This coach doesn't have an outlet up front.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks.

  12. If you own a Jeep Cherokee between 2014-2019 (like we do) you may know about the death wobble. We installed a flat tow kit (recommended) by Jeep. This wiring kit keeps the battery running while towing the Jeep so that the EPS is active. Problem is (as acknowledged by Jeep) that it drains the battery and thus when the battery gets too low, it shuts of the EPS and guess what, The Wobble. I recently added a Solar Battery Maintainer and it seems to work. Traveling near Cleveland today, we went into a short turn with several rumble strips which provoked the wobble. We stopped and then started again and no wobble the rest of the trip.

I am having a  battery  line installed from the rig battery, through the 7-pin connection and directly to the Jeep battery. The hope is that it will constantly charge the Jeep battery so it doesn't shut off. Seems like my only hope. I am still perplexed at the wobble when going over the rumble strips and the wobble started.

When the wobble happens, it triggers the "check engine light."

IF THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR, WOULD LOVE TO TALK WITH SOMEONE..IF YOU'VE EXPERIENCED

THE WOBBLE. IT REALLY TAKES THE FUN OUT OF OUR TRIP.

SHOULD I GET A DIFFERENT CAR?

  13. Good morning, I have thrown in the proverbial towel (not into the sink or toilet). But now I have a new curiosity. When we empty anything, or any amount of water into the kitchen sink the "gurgle" is load and annoying. I have the valve closed in an effort to fill the tank and try (again) to clean the sensors. But It is counter-intuitive when we empty the sink, dishwasher or washing machine that we hear this damn gurgle.

Is it symptomatic of a blockage? IT IS ANNOYING. I presume and think I know that we cannot snake the lines in our beautiful, expensive motor homes, but how does one "clean the lines?" Obviously when I (and many of you) would have any issue, we would call the plumber and snake the lines and if it were a real blockage we would jet the lines to clean them out.

The good news is (I guess) that when I open the gray valve the tank empty's but how do I know, the damn sensors don't read properly?

There I go again, it all goes back to the sensors. Oops!

Ideas, thoughts? Guess I have too much time on my hand if I am going to obsess about this?

    Stay safe and thanks.

  14. I own a 2016 Thor Tuscany 40DX and have a panel, like most, that indicate when gray/black tanks are full. Normally in 1/3, 2/3 etc. The gray tank lights indicate that the

tank is full even though I know that it isn't. I have tried chemicals to clear the tank, but have concluded that the sensors are not working in that tank only. My assumption is that

if I really want it checked out it will cost me an arm/leg as it will need to be in a repair shop and they will need to pull the tank. Frankly I may be too cheap to bother and am

hoping that someone might hjave a suggestion and/or had the problem and know how to fix it.

    Thanks and Happy 4th.

  15. I own a 2016 Thor Tuscany with a lift system for the TV that hides behind the sofa. Everything is fine (sort of) but when it raises  up it tilts a bit due to the worm drives that power it up and down. At least my 40-year old son called them worm-drives (or actuators). Anyway there are two rods that raise and lower the device with motors on the but of each rod. I suspect that one of the motors is slowing down.

I have reached out to Thor and will chat with them next week but didn't know if anyone knows about these system. I am too damn lazy (now) to take the cushions off the coach, open up the panels and take pictures (which I know I will need to do). As I said it goes up a bit tilted and goes down fine, but just anticipating that one day it (a) w above.on;t go up or (b) will get stuck or (c) won't come down.

Happy to get feedback from anyone, via my email address
