  2. we are suppose to arrive at headwater on 5/16. do you think this is to early from your experience? i know we cannot predict the weather.
  3. 8 Nights headwater, 4 in Cody, 2 in buffalo, 5 in Custer. also 2 or 3 in aurora Colorada so if someone has a must do there, please let me know
  4. Actually I meant from Rawlins to Moran but I am looking at going on to rock springs and take 191 to headwaters RV park. after we leave there we will be going thru Yellowstone east to Cody then buffalo then Custer. thanks for the help and info.
  5. How was the drive up to Moran pulling a 43 foot 5th wheel? do you have a 3/4, 1, 1.5 ton truck? is that lot just for veterans or anyone? thanks for the info. i have a 3/4 ton pulling about 11000 lbs. you think i will be good because i saw elevation rise from 6500-9500 feet thru there.
  6. Might have to stop and see it.
  7. i can't find Lincoln on google maps. where is it close to?
  8. i sure appreciate the info. my buddy still wants to go at that time but i told him i might try to move mine back
  9. we are looking at I-80 from Cheyene to Rock Springs. you are saying they have closed the interstate there
  10. I am from the south and really have a concern about pulling a 5th wheel in snow in the mountains. I know you can't stay on all major roads. we already have reservations for 19 nights at different places so if I get stuck for snow with nowhere to go, I could be in a bind. I am going to try to move them to later in the month. I sure appreciate the info and if something else comes to mind, let me know.
  11. would anyone consider it too dangerous at this time of year.
  12. we are staying at headwaters rv park and thanks for the info
  13. I am going to be traveling from Baton Rouge to Yellowstone, leaving the 1st week of May pulling my 5th wheel. I can get to Amarillo ok and then going to Denver taking 1-25 to Cheyenne taking 1-80 to Rawlins and then 286 to Moran. I have pulled in the Gatlinburg area but never out west. Looking for suggestions on this route or another possible route that would be better? My buddy is driving his 36 Foot motor home also. We are also going from Cody to Buffalo and checking on the route to get to buffalo. I have watched many you tube videos on these Routes and Google maps but it would be nice to hear from someone who has taken them. This is my 1st post in a while so have patience with me if I do something wrong. Thanks
  14. thanks, i should have posted i bought me a small car that weighs around 2600 lbs. to pull on all four.
  15. thanks for the replies, I am looking for a small older vehicle that weighs no more than 3000 lbs. that can be towed on all 4 wheels.
  16. I have not got the class "c" yet. Appreciate the info. Not sure what you mean by the over hang. I have been struggling with my decision to buy this as you can see I cant sleep because of it. that is why I accept as many opinions as possible so I can learn new things.
  17. When I say weight is not a issue, I mean that I know the RV and the vehicle I will be pulling are under the legal weight for the combination of both vehicles. I have put my 5er, ram 2500, and personal car on cat scales. I would never put myself or anyone else in danger by being overloaded. I still have my 5er as of now. just trying to get opinions before i pull the trigger on the class "c".
  18. it is rated to pull 7500 pounds. trying to see if the tow dolly would sway behind me to much(if any at all) or if towing a smaller car on 4 wheels would be a better way to go.
  19. weight is not a problem. seeing if towing on 2 wheels or 4 wheels makes a big difference
  20. Looking for opinions for towing a vehicle on all 4 tires or using a tow dolly with the front wheels up. Our vehicle weighs about 4400 lbs. and cannot be towed on all 4 tires. looking at used smaller car weighing about 3000 lbs. to tow on all 4 tires. any opinion on which would be the best way to go would be appreciated.
