  1. Well still no luck on getting to the zerks. I'm thinking that if I jack the frame it will take the pressure off the springs and possibly rotate the cams to maybe change the angle to get into the zerks.
  2. I have a 3 axle toy hauler and the question I have is...is there a easier way to grease the under carriege. I have a zerk fitting on each side ....that's one on each side and I can't get my grease nozzle in between all the hardware to grease the zerk. Do they make extensions for grease fittings and where can I get them?
  3. Well... just pulled the trigger on a 2015 Smart Brabus...in Alpharetta GA. This trip should give us an idea as to what we will be up against in August when we head out for Sturgis. Seven and a half hours away. DW planned it so and I just drive. So far I have 8 1k ratchet straps and wheel chocks... hopefully that should do it to secure the vehicle. Probably should throw some 5k chains in with it. I'll think about that , not unless there are those of you out there who have had some compelling experiences to relay on. I'll post when we get back. Ben
  4. Series 60 Detroit 11.1 It's real slow starting out but by 6th gear she rolls up rapidly to 9th.
  5. Hope some of you folks that have been around for awhile and have traded up over the time you've been over the road can pass on some knowledge about the cruise control system on the early model Volvo's. When I am parked and the service brake is applied...I can turn the cruise switch on and can bump the motor up to a high idol. When going down the road I can't get the cruise engaged, My buddy who I hang with and works on the big stuff put his Snap-on puter onto the truck and it said that the cruise was off. He went through the whole system with a test light checking all the pressure switches and the only thing He found was a pressure switch behind the brake valve panel that kept releasing air.....the bottom plug on the sensor was missing. I ordered a new one and put it in but still can't get the cruise to engage. My question is this,,,,,if you get a check engine lite on for a battery in the ecm but don't correct the fault does the bad switch also throw a fault and if you don't clear the fault after you replace the switch...will the ecm override the replaced switch by not engaging??? Do I need to clear the faults to get the cruise to engage? Sure would appreciate knowledge out there from you guys. OBTW.....I just happened to mentioned the Kansas rally to the DW and she said if we can get some of these issues ironed out on the truck she would feel better bout making the run. as it is now...we're making a run for Charleston on Saturday for the eclipse. good thing is..its only 5 hours from the house and I believe I can dead stick it in to there from here. Will put a post in after we get there. Thanks for your help.
  6. I would hope so but not having a D13 I could not say for sure.
  7. I have a Volvo wia 64 with a Detroit 11.1. this happened to me before so I called my tech and he said my coolent system was low on water. Add more coolant.....I looked and sure enough the sensor in the coolant tank was exposed. I know that this holds true for Detroit but not so sure for other powerplants. Check your coolant tank and see how much coolant you have. OBTW.....Have not had an issue since.
  8. Thanks big5er. I saw one just like it earlier. I have something similar that has no wheels that I purchased from harbour freight about 3 years ago. I may just give it a go at putting wheels on this thing. It's funny that I look at this thing everytime I go in my shop but it never crossed my peabrain to try to convert it. Thank you sir.
  9. There is a lot of really good info here fella's. I'm gonna check into the Condor system and the ramps. I'm also gonna think about the clutch stopping. I've got some friends that keep their motors running when they back out down hill. I rode a Goldwing for 22 years and never had a problem cause I always used the reverse gear. HD don't have them. at least not yet. gjhunter01...you are right indeed about feeling comfortable with the bike you ride. I've had the dresser for 10 years now but never had a clue that 3 yrs ago I would be buying a toybox. Man...all the good times the DW and I talked about loading those bikes up and hittin the road. NOW you start to find yourself turning past 60 and medical science can only fix or repair so much age related maladies. Id rather try to tackle the loading problem with the dresser first and if nothing will work for me...then I guess its back to a smaller weight scooter but I do appreciate what all of you have had to offer. I'll let you all know how it turns out.
  10. I have a 1K lb hand winch that I would like to use but the DW seems to think that because of the steepness of the ramp, at some point I may not be able to have a place to put my feet to keep it steady when the front wheel is up on the ramp and the rear wheel is still on the ground,
  11. Has anyone out there got a good way...Safeway....To load a motorcycle..Ie..ultraglide...Safely into the back of a toy hauler. I can load my DWs 750 no problem BUT the ultra is a horse of a different color. Having had a neck and a back surgery fusion in the past 5 years...I really would like to be able to load the bike safely without worrying about dropping it.
  12. Congrats on your new toy and glad you guys made it home ok. Bummer bout the muffler. I just replaced mine last month. Turbo back to the stack. Took all day but glad I had good help.
