We've done 6 years of full-time travel in motorhomes, 5 years from 2004-2008 and 6 months last winter in the southeast and 6 months this year in the southwest.聽 We've visited almost every state and National Park and we stay at SKP campgrounds whenever possible.聽 We're going to concentrate on foreign travel going forward.聽聽

I'll receive any reply to the posting here just as I did yours.

    Best regards,

    Brooks

  3. We have a 2021 Jayco Greyhawk 29MV class C.

Attached are links for a Hellwig 7180 rear sway bar, a Supersteer SS451 rear trac bar and rear Sumo springs SSR-130-54.Which would have the greatest benefit in reducing the push/pull from large tractor trailers passing us on the interstates?

I stopped locking the car to the coach after I watched a fellow stop with a pusher engine fire and lose his tow car too because he couldn't get the pins unlocked. By the time he found his keys it was too hot to use them.聽

I get that but I'm also concerned about someone stealing our $1,000 tow bar.

I noticed early on that the attaching pins on our ReadyBrute Elite towbar and BlueOx base plate always worked themselves in the same direction while underway. Because of that, I聽insert the pins so the locking end聽works itself away from the "knuckles". Even if the locks or keeper clips were left off, the pins should still stay in place. I have no intentions of testing that though...

Are you calling the parts that connect the towbar to the baseplate knuckles?聽 Just trying to understand.

  6. "You have not said if you checked to see if all of the lights on the towed are working properly when not connected to the RV?"

But I did: "The lights on the toad function normally with no cable connected."

    I watched this video twice:聽https://www.etrailer.com/Tow-Bar-Wiring/Hopkins/HM56304.html

The problem is that it falls short of showing the connection between the motorhome and the toad.聽

The problem is the wiring kits end in a flat 4 connector and the MH uses a round connector.聽 Things did not used to be this way.聽聽

If you can鈥檛 get the wiring working, try the聽Tekonsha module.

My RV-car tail light connection failed on the road and I didn鈥檛 have the time or money to troubleshoot it. The Tekonsha module works by induction, so you don鈥檛 have to cut into any wires.

I used this kit from Hopkins which is basically the same as the Tekonsha:聽https://hopkinstowingsolutions.com/?t=products/dinghy-towing/plug-in-simple-diodes/56304聽 The Hopkins is聽"plug and play" and uses existing sockets which Honda left in the taillights.聽 It doesn't require cutting into wires for diodes or drilling holes for extra lights.聽 Unfortunately, it聽ends in a flat 4 plug as does the Tekonsha.聽 Those type of plugs are popular with trailers.聽 But all the motorhomes I've ever seen use round connectors, 6 or 7 pole.聽 Therein lies the problem.

  8. I have a multimeter.

This is the diagram I gave him to use for going from 4 to 6 poles.聽 I mistyped in the first post.聽 The connector is聽6 poles not 7.聽聽

The lights on the toad function normally with no cable connected.

The shop that did the baseplate and wiring had not done those before.聽 I asked them to test the wiring and they said they had no way to do that.

I had not heard that they wire trailers and MH differently.

  9. Last week I had a local collision shop (well recommended) install my baseplate and wiring.聽 I used a plug and play wiring kit - no inserting of diodes and drilling extra lights into the taillights.

He did have to cut off the flat 4 plug and connect to a 7 pin adapter.聽 We haven't taken delivery on the MH yet, so I couldn't test the turn signals last week.

Today I took the toad to the dealers to test the lights.聽 Didn't go well, except the emergency flashers.聽 Those worked in the toad.聽 But a right turn signal in the MH caused no lights in the toad.聽 A left turn in the MH caused both taillights to flash.聽 Clearly something is wrong.聽 I'm guessing Jayco knows how to wire the MH and the problem is in the toad wiring.

They make testers for the MH like this one:聽https://www.curtmfg.com/part/58650

But I'm not sure how to figure out what is wrong with the toad wiring and how to fix it.

    Suggestions appreciated.
