For our first Road Report, we just flew into Boise and will be picking up the new truck in the morning.

Welcome to the forum.

I was only joking......no way the trailer is up for 4k hitch weight.
I'm already over length as it is right now and tail swing with the hitch 7' behind the axle is where I'm comfortable. If it makes it happen, I could probably slide my hitch platform back 3-4" and just re-drill I'll the holes in it.....not much point if it doesn't fix it though.
I'll put the Jeep back up there one of the days and try some stuff like dropping air pressure, strapping the front end down, rear axle up on ramps, dumping bags on the truck, etc.... to see how much it affects the situation.
Maybe a couple of small changes will do the trick.
Well, in the words of the ex-con Martha Stewart, That's a good thing! Lol. I was hoping you were kidding, but ya never know......lol

You would probably be ok lengthwise. The big challenge would be casters heavy enough to handle the tongue weight.
The other thing you may need to consider is how much of a stinger effect that will give you in a turn with the overhang of the truck bed. That design of a dolly places your pivot point at the fifth wheel on the dolley.
-
How long is your Toy Hauler?
-
True, though the trailer and dolly would be limited to 40 feet.
-
Is that considered towing tandem in Commiefornia?
I would think that it would make the Fifth Wheel a Full Trailer, like a converter dolly does for a commercial semi trailer.
Seems like it would open a whole new can of worms.

I didn't notice any flex in the ramps at all. The seller rated these at 5,000lb per pair and claimed half knife ends were stronger for when you used then at a steeper than ideal angle. Time will tell I guess.
I do know I didn't pucker one bit loading or unloading. The width and length are about right.
There is a lot to be said with the pucker factor......lol
Even with the pitfalls of the close distance, it has to feel good to have gotten it done to this point. Great job!
-
Did you have any flexing in the bottom of the ramps, when you were loading? It looks like your deck height is higher than the design height of the ramps, though your ramps look stouter than 3,000 pound ramps.

Ended up getting some ramps from a seller on Ebay. They were slightly longer that the ones from Discount Ramp, in stock, and $300+ less. Should do the job?

I was on the fence which ends to get.....figured a didn't need full knife and couldn't really decide hook or plate on the other. Figured these would be most universal.
Nice ramps that you found.
What is the deck height of your truck?

They're usually not bad to replace. Works best to build up a makeshift platform to open the hood onto, then replace one bushing at a time.

Larry,
For what it is worth, I have a Weekend Warrior CR3905 (TH) and have a 2008 JK Wrangler. The Toyhauler handles the jeep with no problems, as long as you are aware of Gross Weight. Prior to undertaking this, I had the fortune of being able to talk to the former Lead Engineer that designed the Weekend Warrior later models and he said that most of the big name toy haulers can handle something like an average (2 Door) Wrangler, BUT, people tend to NOT take the time to get actual weights of all the items being loaded, in addition to something like a Jeep, and wind up overloading the trailer through a whole lot of guessing.
I have been hauling my TH with a F-350 Ford Super Duty 4x4 Dually Crew Cab and have a lot of experience owning and driving Class 8 trucks. Even though the F-350 still meets the criteria to handle the TH, on paper, I can tell you that I am in the process of selling the F-350 and buying something that will be total overkill for the job.
If you are going to be doing much in the way of off pavement driving and go for a Class 8 truck, I would recommend keeping the truck tandem and dualed out, as well as installing the widest practical steer tires.

Welcome to the board.
The guy that taught me how to drive trucks used to say "Never let an air leak go without fixing it, BUT, if it stops leakin, be very afraid!"
