Rick, we have two empty lots there....if you are staying for awhile we can accommodate you..... just email me.

Thanks Jack, but we're long gone.  Staying tonight in a gravel pit masquerading as a campground near  Waynesville, Mo.  Far cry from the last two days in Weatherford, Ok., where we had 110' of level concrete, then an 8' apron at each end.

  2. You are in the same predicament as we were.  Our F-350 was too light.  While a mdt seemed the best route, finding one was difficult.  Thus our decision to jump to the hdt.

Do I need 500 hp?  Not really.  I certainly don't need the full sleeper cab.  But, we bought it for about 1/3 the cost of a decent mdt. Now we appreciate the extra capability and safety margin that came along for no additional costs. YMMV.

I believe Jim & Teri (They have a newmar X-aire like you) and are near Terlingua right now. They are staying at a friend's place, but pretty close to there. I wanted to visit there, but we passed right by and headed to AZ back at the end of Dec. Been loving the desert SW.

Yup, they stopped bye the first evening we were here. Their rig is very similar to ours. They're a few miles north of us.

I'm thinking this area might make a good place for am HDT/motorcycle rally some day.

  4. Rolled into Terlingua, TX last night. Got volunteered to judge a qualifier for the world chili cook off today. Judging included free beer and palate cleansers. Life is good.

unloaded the bikes and will take a ride tomorrow.  Weather is here, wish you were beautiful.;)

The rig draws a lot of attention, especially when we unload the smart.  The hours spent measuring, drawing, and thinking have paid off.

    Hey Rick and Susan,

How close to Wickenburg?   We (and The Brett's, Haagsma's, and Johnston's, Penner's and a couple of HDT Lot Owners are in Escapees North Ranch, Congress.    (12 miles from W)

Our plans are loose. We're enjoying poking around here in the heart of  Cajun country. We'll likely head over to Big Bend for a week or so, then to Rusty's RV Ranch in NM for a bit. Rumor has it that North Ranch may be crowded in February?

Something to discuss in another thread - some type of legal braking signal when slowing down with the engine and exhaust brakes.

My wife mentioned this, after following me one day.  She saw drivers suddenly slam on their brakes when I'd backed off the throttle a bit.

I bet an old electron whiz could figure out how to activate the brake lights with the jake signal...................

  7. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but leaving a safe distance is just so hard to do.  It seems every time I leave a gap, two others fill it.

It's amazing that only one died in that mess.  Hopefully. the others weren't hurt too badly.

I'm trying to get the DW to see the HDT as just a little bigger than our dually and you go ahead and call it a "beast".  Not what I want her to be reading.  Baaad Paulie.

Hey, he woke up.  Food brings him out of hiding........

Does it count if a member lets you park your rig at their place, then hauls you to the restaurant in question? We have a new little place bye us, worthy of a visit.

  9. Back home in south-east Indiana.

Took three days out to New Mexico, via Concordia, MO, where we had a brief but enjoyable visit with the Dixons, two days from there to Red River, NM, where we spent 5 days riding the mountain roads and fly fishing, two days to Harrison, AR, where we met up with Paul and Paula for a week of riding the Ozarks, and finally two days to drive home.  A total of 7 days in the truck for about 3000 miles.  The days spent on the bikes were more fun.B)

On a whim, we got our rig washed and waxed in a campground in Effingham, IL.  Not cheap, ($189), and just a fair job.  It was some product where the "wax" is in the soap.  Blue Beacon would be a better value.  But it sure looks better than before.  Live and learn...............

The reason I asked about it, the black cap has an o ring that can leak air

If that o-ring is leaking, the fuel level in the filter will drop.  I had it happen on the Mack, and it drove me nuts.  I spent way too much time and energy (and $) over thinking it, before I changed that simple piece.

Put a piece of tape at the fuel level on the glass bowl.  Come back a while later and see if it's changed.
