  1. We too stayed there and agree w/ Toni about the pizza. They also show movies at the bar. We were there when they opened the marina to the waterway. I had fun watching the back hoe and the guys in boats working to open it up. By the next day boats were all tied up to the docks. The shuttle driver gave us "best restaurant" guide, and it was. So ask him.
  2. Again thanks everybody for the input and suggestions. I picked up our new refrig at CW Tues morning and by 4:30 it was up and running. I had help from the trailer repair guy from across the street. I had the old one disconnected, doors off and ready for removal by the time he showed up. The hardest part of the install was reversing the door swing. It comes only as a right hand swing and of course I needed it to be a left swing. It is working as it should and we again are happy campers. One more issue on the coach is a leaky tire that I will get fixed on our way out of here. Our winter home is slowly emptying out and we are saying our goodbys to all here in the park. We have one more Happy Hour/Dance in the club house this Saturday Night. And then it's MI here we come.
  3. Thanks all for the input, We have a Dometic so no re-built Amish for us, but we did look into a factory rebuilt and it isn't much cheaper than new. And we did think about a residential frig, but w/ no inverter and some space limitations, it really isn't right. So a new one just like the old is on order. And yes Kora is ready to help with any and all food consumption (just to be helpful I'm sure). We are lucky that all the food we just bought is safe and cold in the frig in the shop here at the park. It could be so much worse. Life does go on. We are here for a few more weeks and then it is North for us. Boy I hope it starts warming up soon. A few weeks in MI and then on to IL. for another summer.
  4. Our refrigerator died yesterday and nobody has one in stock. CW has the best price so they ordered one for us. Won't be here till Monday. Luckily there is a full size frig/freezer in the shop here at the park so I loaded most of the contents of ours into that one. Kept some of the most used food in a cooler here. Went to buy ice at one of those ice houses close to here. Put in my money and the ice came sliding out and dumped all over the ground. The machine was out of bags. Oh what fun. At least we won't loose any food or have to go on an eating binge. Oh what fun living in an motorhome. How's your day?

  12. After stops in St Augustine FL and Bradenton FL we have now landed at our winter home. Gulf Air RV Resort, Ft Myers Beach FL. This will be our 2nd year here. Right now it is a little toooo hot for our liking. 86 degrees today and weather forecasts it to basically to continue on for the near future. Oh well, at least there is freezing rain, snow or even clouds to deal with. Good days to go to the beach or sit in the pool here at the park.
  13. Moved on to Charleston SC. Here at the CG at James Island County Park. They are currently setting up a Festival Of Lights drive throughout the entire county park. Very impressive, lots of workers installing and checking all the scenes. Won't be open to the public till after we leave. To bad as it is quite a display. Still enjoying our sloooow drive to FL.

The plan is to do it again next summer. But yesterday was a move day. We are now parked in our friends driveway at Portage Lake in Pinckney MI. Ted has a few projects lined up for me to help with while we are here. And as always I do enjoy helping. Here till Oct. 7ish then slooooly to Ft Myers Beach FL. 16. For all of you kayakers and boaters out there, take a look at Senator Wash Recreation area, just outside of Yuma. I have read were it is a great place to camp on BLM land and enjoy water sports. Some of the camping may be in CA however.

From here they are doing a east coast road trip and will be back in AZ by Christmas. Along with seeing the Great Lakes they want to see some truly magnificent fall colors along there route down the east coast. We went into the city yesterday for a visit to the Chicago History Museum and dinner at Pequod's Pizza (for authentic Chicago style pizza). http://www.pequodspizza.com/ Boy was it good! eric
  20. We are here in Zion IL. Kids are here in Highland Park and Chicago and we are camp hosts at Illinois Beach State Park. Enjoying all the kids and grandkids time. Ft Myers Beach for the winter with some site seeing in between. Sherry and Sharon (also class of 2009) are on there way here for a week. We are then taking a 10 day vacation and going to Door County with them. We have reservations at Peninsula State Park for 7 nites. Nice to be able to take a vacation again.
  21. One more year for sure on the Atlantic side of the Mississippi for us. We will be in Ft Myers Beach FL again for the winter. One of the reasons we like FMB is for the kayaking but there are others. If you're in the area, please look us up.
  22. Lucky you, It was very cold here and yesterday it rained. And with all that the park was 98% full. Today? 98% empty and very quiet. Still rainy and with a forecast of rain.
