  1. Thanks for the reply, Kirk.

We've booked a couple days at the Clinton Lake COE and not the state park. Reviews looked pretty good and you certainly can't beat the liberal cancellation policy or the discount with the senior pass.

    Regards,

    Connie

  2. Greetings,

Has anyone stayed at the Clinton Lake COE near Lawrence, Kansas, specifically the Cedar Ridge Campground at Bloomington East Park? Looking for comments on the sites (are they level?) and also the secondary highway into the area.

  3. Thanks for your replies. Kirk and others, hope this additional post clarifies my original post

I am thinking about having our roof resealed and not replace. The process that would be done would be to clean the roof, caulk as needed, apply a primer followed by two or three coats of EPDM roof coating. Our roof is the original. What we want to do is to extend the roof life of our 17 year old roof for maybe two years before our next RV purchase.

The question is whether we should also have the slideouts done with the primer and coating. Although our slideouts are not as bad as our roof, we were just wondering if we should have the slideouts done. We have heard stories that after the slideout was coated, there were seal problems with the slideouts. We also understand that slide coating is not offered by many companies so there must be a reason for that, besides cost.

  4. Greetings,

I own a 2007 29-5E Arctic Fox fifth wheel and will be having the roof resealed.
The question I have is whether or not I should have the slides resealed or leave them as is? My concern is that the slides may not go in or out as smoothly if there is a coating of sealant on them. Comments?

  5. We had a similar issue when we moved from TD Ameritrade to Fidelity. NO problem with TD Ameritrade for 17 years, go figure.

We had to jump through hoops to get Fidelity to accept our PMB. Copies of drivers license, voter registration form showing that we were registered voters in SD, copies of our vehicle registrations, State of South Dakota Residency Affidavit for RVers, as a few examples. As mentioned, financial institutions are required to have a CIP (Customer Identification Program) in place to validate the identify of the person on the accounts and each bank/financial institution method could be slightly difference. Perhaps ask them what you they would require as proof of residency.

  6. SD is our domicile. We just renewed our vehicle registration. We have learned that SD is issuing new license plates for non-commercial vehicles when you renew.

This reissue started in January 2023 but we weren't aware of it...so I thought I would pass on this information.

  7. As others have asked, do you mean domicle?

There was a SD house bill and Senate bill this year on voting that would have impacted those who declare SD as their domicle. Both failed. Search for "South Dakota Voter's Rights" in the Escapees forum for more discussion.

  8. Greetings,

I’ve been using Streets and Trips for well over 10 years. Yeah, I know it has been end of life for some time. However, it is now time for me to reluctantly move on to another app.

I’m looking for an application similar to Streets and Trips where I can work on my route on the laptop and then upload the route to my Garmin GPS. I am aware of Basecamp for Garmin but I don’t care for the application.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,

  9. Thank you all for your suggestions.

We decided to head to Eugene from Bend/Redmond and drove Hwy 20==> 126 and had no problem with the route. Quite scenic in many spots but the sections that were burned due to wildfires was heartbreaking to see.

  10. Greetings,

We did stay at the Boise Elks for 3 nites. The parking lot is very small and I personally feel that a van or small Class B no longer than 24-25' works the best. It is electric only and located off a busy street with mostly commercial businesses. The lodge is three miles to downtown Boise which was a plus.

  11. Looking for route advice from Bend, Oregon to I-5 Oregon.

It looks like our options are:

First option, from Bend, Hwy 20 to 126 into Eugene.

Next option from Bend, Hwy 20 passing Sweet Home into Corvallis/Albany

Finally, from Bend to 126 to 22 into Salem.

We have a 25’ Class B+ and just need to get to I-5.

    Thanks,

  12. Second Chance,

Just fyi...we were in Lake Powhatan Campground near Asheville for about it week in late September and Verizon cell phone and MiFi (data) were non-existent. We stayed in 3 spots in two sections during that time and could not get a signal.

The office (check in) has an i-Pad that has network access in case you need to book a site at their campground when you arrive.

  13. Greetings,

We are domiciled in South Dakota and have been using Your Best Address (YBA) for the past four years. (We switched to them when MyDakotaAddress shut down.)

Our mail service is up for renewal and we are seeing a 50% rate increase in the cost of the service. Since we've only used two mail service companies in the 15 years of full-time RVings, we don't know if this increase is "normal."

In the past, what has been your experience with rate increases of the mail service you use.
