  1. We have decided to go with flat towing and have purchased a vehicle that will flat tow. That being said we have a Road Master Tow dolly with electric brakes for sale. It is a 2022 (purchased on April 12 2022) with a title. The tow dolly has only been utilized once from Knoxville, TN to the Houston Texas area (approx. 1000 miles) . As we are all aware the dolly is shipped in a box and therefore we paid someone to build the dolly for us and wire it, it is wired with a 7-PIN female plug. Along with the tow dolly, we have a Prodigy P2 proportional electronic brake controller.

We are hoping that we can help someone out here in the Escapee's club that may be looking at one of these but do not want to pay full price for a brand new unassembled one, then have to pay for shipping ($200.00) and then to maybe have someone assemble it ($400.00) and then purchase the brake controller.

We are asking $2200.00 cash or money order only (these are selling for $3,300 on Camping World), for the dolly with the controller and have to be within the Houston TX  up to Livingston, TX area.  We can assist in delivery.

  2. We have switched services to T-Mobile and we no longer need these two(2) Nighthawk M1 ATT hotspot routers (two hotspots with batteries and one plug).  I had the router and had to purchase another one when I switched providers so ended up with two. I also purchased the Waveform MIMO 4x4 Panel External Antenna Kit for 4G LTE/5G Hotspots & Routers that was never unpacked out of the box.

The MiMo antenna is $399.00 (https://www.waveform.com/products/4x4-mimo-panel-kit-v2?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=39622384156775&gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwge2iBhBBEiwAfXDBRydaD_DwClORKuZz5PBGLY9CHEObjTUi0qTe4EMrDa8olKmqCIM6lhoCRloQAvD_BwE) and the WiFi routers are $200.00 each refurbished total of ($799.00) (https://www.amazon.com/Netgear-Nighthawk-Hotspot-Unlocked-Renewed/dp/B07QHMCYDT/ref=asc_df_B07QHMCYDT/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385546063373&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7371065893026601891&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1026481&hvtargid=pla-840583122169&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=85458698584&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=385546063373&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7371065893026601891&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1026481&hvtargid=pla-840583122169)

I hate to see things go to waste and would like to know if any one is interested in a great deal.

I would like $250.00 plus shipping cost for the lot.  It is a hell of a deal and we hope it can maybe help someone out that can maybe use them.

I can provide pictures later.  We are in Livingston, Texas area so that would be the shipping origin should you want to calculate the cost.

  3. Has anyone had FORD install the OEM E450 Chasis Electric Brake Controller?

Our 2021 Coachmen Leprechaun 311FS comes factory prewired with the Theodore Bargman 77 vehicle end installed and there is a an electric brake controller plug under the dash near the brake. We purchased a Roadmaster two wheel dolly with electric brakes and need the controller installed.

    Thanks,

I am a fan of Fullriver batteries.  They make very good batteries (high quality) for a decent price.  I have been running them in my rigs for many years (6 plus in my truck house bank and 4 plus in my 5th wheel).  I have recommended them to friends who have also had great success with them.

Thanks a bunch I will look into them.

Rick and Michelle great questions, here are one engineers thoughts.

    1) I like you and many others changed from wet flooded lead acid to AGM so we don't have to worry and mess with checking and adding water. Now if you were a higher energy user and mostly dry camper for long time periods Lithium Iron Phosphate may be worth looking into. Even AGM still need proper adequate venting to avoid overheating

    2) Obviously if you ever go Solar you need a Solar Charge Controller suitable for your chosen battery chemistry. While many out there have settings for wet flooded or AGM, if you had Lithium that's another story and requirement. If you purchase a SCC allow room for expansion in case you expand in the future.

    3) Similar I suggest a modern so called SMART 3 stage regulated charger suitable for your battery chemistry high enough rated to match your batteries,  your use, and allow room for expansion.

    4) I hesitate to name a particular brand  or what AGM I chose, but for sure I suggest a Full True Deep Cycle NOT any dual purpose hybrid like a so called RV/Marine. AGM are available in smaller more typical frame sizes in 12 Volt rated around 100 Amp Hours of energy storage capacity or I chose 200 Amp Hour 12 Volt which are the larger frame size 4D and weight around 130 lbs !!!! However they still take up APPROXIMATELY near the same physical space as say two Trojan 6 volt units or a couple RV/Marine batteries. Its just that being 12 volt you save and don't need that extra series connections as in two 6 volts in series.

    5) You might want to check your current Chargers specs to see if its 1) Suitable for AGM (most will likely still "work" for AGM orrrrrrrrr wet flooded)   2) To see if its a more modern so called "Smart" staged charger   3) What's the amperage rating and if its sufficient for your use and new batteries

You will have to locate the manual and specs to see if your current charger will suffice for AGM battery technology. As I already noted most will likely still "work" and charge AGM orrrrrrrrr wet flooded even if perhaps not the absolute best........ MORE IMPORTANT is if its Smart technology having regulated charging stages..If not (like a real old Converter/Charger more like a fixed voltage unit) I would replace it for darn sure and ASAP.

None of this should affect your Inverter, its good if located near the batteries and use big enough protected cables to reduce line voltage drop.

PS just for comparison: Many in the past and even today have used TWO 6 Volt Trojan T-105 Deep Cycle Golf Cart batteries wired in series to get 12 Volts at 225 Amp Hours of energy storage......Similar and requiring near the same space a person could use say TWO 100AH 12 Volt AGM's in parallel to yield the same 12 Volts at 200 Amp Hours. Its best to NOT discharge them over 50% of their capacity meaning you would have 100 useable Amp Hours of use before they need recharged

PS Of course you need a way to recharge those batteries when  needed DUH and if you don't have solar and are dry camped that's either run a genset to power your charger or for while driving or the truck engines running some use a DC to DC charger.

PS, although as mentioned  many chargers will still "work" for wet flooded or AGM, iffffffff " a charger had say specific settings/options for AGM orrrrrrrrrrr wet flooded with different charge parameters for each ????? such would in  my opinion be preferred.  I have seen such settings.

Good questions you are doing your homework, good for you

John,  Thanks for your post.  I agree with all you said and my post was mostly trying to get other Coachmen 311FS owners to enlighten me on any info they had on the factory charger. This is a brand new unit and they have supplied zero info on the charger unit and I cannot locate a manufacturer or model number on it.  I will keep looking thanks again for your insight.

I have been thinking of that change also, and for the same reason.

Yeah I just do not like flooded cell batteries off gassing hydrogen in my living quarters. I would like to simply change them to AGM just not sure if the charger is capable of doing that. This unit has a WFCO WF-5110RS 1000W Pure Sine Wave inverter but I cannot seem to locate any information on the charger.

  7. This is a new unit and new batteries. This unit has the wiring for a solar hook up installed but it does not have the solar charging unit. We will not be boondocking much so we do not see a need for Lithium Ion batteries but we do want to change our house batteries to AGM.  Does anyone have suggestions for 12V AGM batteries that they have used. Likes dislikes etc. I would like to change the house Charger/inverter as well eventually but the first item will just be a swap out of the batteries just not sure the factory supplied equipment will allow for the direct change out.

All comments and suggestions welcome.  Thanks in advance all.

Get one of these. This is from Walmart, but there's many places to get one from. Turn off the water heater, and let it cool. Turn off the water pump, or faucet, and release the pressure in the system. Remove the drain plug. Connect the flusher to a garden hose, while the tank is draining. Turn on the water to the flusher, and insert into the drain hole. Move the nozzle around, side to side, and in and out. Keep an eye on the white chunks coming out. That's what you're trying to get rid of. When they stop, and you don't hear anything bouncing around in the tank, you're done. Reverse all the above. Enjoy.

    Thanks D&R

  9. We have a 2021 Coachmen Leprechaun 311FS and we are hooked to city water. They had a break in the water line some place and the water was colored and you could tell that they were killing bacteria and the like because the chlorine smell was strong. That is all cleared up but now when we turn on the hot water we get a smell, it is not a Sulphur or rotten egg smell it is something different. We have a Dometic WH6-GEA Gas/Electric water heater and there is no anode as I was thinking maybe it is smelling.

Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Never leave mine hooked up to shore water. Fill the tank and use coach water pump till 1/4, fill again and start over. Had a buddy on shore water, that left for the day, and came back to coach will water coming out from all sides of the coach and a small lake under the coach. Pex fitting came loose under sink. I turn my water pump on when I need water, and off when I don't need it.

Wow that sucks but thanks for the insight.

We usually keep it near full, but we boondock when we can. But you should keep enough in it when you travel so that you can stop along the way and make something to eat and use restroom. Also during a freeze you should disconnect the water hose and drain it and go on the water pump/tank while the temps are below 32.

Thanks. We have a really nice self regulated water hose for the winter months. I also have a self regulating heat trace connection for the water hookup. All the tanks have heat pads on them so hoping that will help as well.

I only put water in my tank when I am going to use it.  I am still working full time so the rig doesn’t get used as much as I would like.  I have never had an issue with my water tanks on four different rigs over 20 years or so so far doing this.

I am also working full time. Our plan is to move the rig once a month, when we can, and then to use the fresh water tank at that time.

    Thanks for the input.

We always keep some water in the fresh tank. For example, the park we are in currently just had a water emergency and had to shut down water for a while. At least we had water to flush the toilet. And when traveling, it is nice to have water for flushing the toilet as road side stops and gas stations don't often have cleanest of facilities.

Do you use anything in the tank to stop growth?  I know that before first use we will flush with a bleach mixture but after that is there a product that you use?
