  1. I don't know where to place this post, but I need some encouraging words. We just sold the house TODAY! We have talked about fulltiming and now we are homeless. Got a call this morning to see the house. showed it this afternoon. and now have a check in my hand. Reality has just slapped us in the face. Is it normal to feel this crazy? The feeling is crazy! Anyone else go through this? Ron and Linda
  2. This is forbobsallyh. Thanks for the good reply on my brakes! Found "new" brake packing plates from E-TRAILER for $55.45 each. Then took them to my mechanic. You were 100% correct. All four wheels were soaked to the max. Grease was everywhere. Charged me for 4 cans of brake cleaner just to clean up the mess. He also found 1 outer bearing that needed to be replaced. Total cost to me was about $650.00. As I was there paying my bill, I noticed on the shelf, new brake magnets. They were listed at $50.95 each. Saved myself a ton by buying the entire assembly. I now have great brakes and a lot more peace of mind as I travel down the road. Took the time to e-mail a "nastygram" to Heartland RV. Of course I have heard nothing from them. My home is still on market for sale and just itching to sell and get outta here. Had many lookers but all with the same comment: "I'll need to sell mine first". Hope to a lot of ya'll in Q.. Again, thanks for the help! Ron
  3. Thanks #78750. Didn't catch the name, but I really do appreciate the help. Thanks for the "backing plate" info too. I my self do almost all my own work but don't have the facility now to do the job. The fifth is in storage in a grass field. In direct sun, Leesburg Fl. I will research parts and prices and see if I can find someone with a facility that I can use. This sounds like its going to get expensive. Thank You again for the help. Ron
  4. Hey ya'll. Been a while since being here. I need some help! Trailer brake question: here's the info. 2011 Heartland Sundance 3300QS. 11,000 LB. 2010 F250 6.4L diesel. Fifth wheel has the newer buddy bearings that grease the inner bearing also. My trailer brakes are weak. They do work, but minimal. I hooked up and pulled the brake-away cable out. I was able to move the fifth. Didn't even spin a tire in grass. Trailer battery is fully charged. Anybody have any experience with something like this. My RV mechanic says he doesn't like the new buddy bearing system because you can overload the bearing and spin grease to the inside of the wheel drum. OK. I'm throwing this out on the floor to all them years of experience sitting out there.
  5. Hey ya'll. I'm beginning to believe IYQ has it out for Steve! Probably best of friends! Thanks to Doug and Toni and Steve. I think it's just going to come down to experience out on the road. Knowledge takes time, so I'll just jump in there with both feet and learn the old fashioned way. After retiring from the USAF in "90", I went to work for Disney World for the next ten years. Electronics Tech/Animatronics/Show Lighting. Epcot Center. My tool pouch consisted of a small flashlight, 6 way screw-driver, crescent wrench, needle nose pliers, and wire strippers. I'll bet I was able to maintain 90% of all malfunctions with just these tools! Anything major, these tools removed the culprit for delivery to the work bench. The way we have things planned right now, is to be in the Wyoming-Utah-Oregon area for the summer and winter in Arizona. And that could possibly change. Linda has two new twin grandkids. Alex and Avery in Roy Utah. Guess where we're going first.
  6. Howdy ya'll. Thanks to all of you that sent us a "welcome". We received our membership package today and have been going through it all. It got my feet to itchin' and my palms sweatin'. I read a lot of blogs about letting go of all your "stuff". Man, am I having a tough time in the "tools" department. I've always been a "Tim the Tool Man" kind of guy. I'm trying to vision future needs that may arise, but know that's not possible. Any thoughts on this? I'm well experienced in about all trades.
  7. Well, This is my first post! Been reading around for a few weeks now. Went over to Sumter Oaks (Bushnell, Florida) and met a few of the fine folks over there. Joined up with Ya'll last Friday. We've got the "for sale" sign up for the house. The first reasonable offer: We're outa' here!. I like the feelin' I got when I read "The Class of No Class" Think my wife and I should fit right in. My dad retired from the Air Force (23 years) in 1967. I retired from the Air Force in 1990. I've been drug all over the world all my life. Why stop now? Hope to see a lot of ya'll out on the road. I'll keep popping my head in and outta here often!
