  1. You guys visit that place and you'll have to either trade in your RV on a train or go back to a stick and brick with a barn to store it all. I finally found a twin sleeping bag with zip in sheets like a travelsak (which they no longer make). But expensive, oh boy. $357 FOR THE BAG, An upgrade to 100% cotton 300 count sheet and shipping. It came from a place either called Welcome-aboard.com or RVSuperbag.com. They are both the same place. The Queen and King sizes are only a few bucks more. Still in the 300s. They have a feature the gals might like. They have a flap afair sewed all the way around them to cover the edge of the mattress to make it look like a made up bed. I don't know how reliable they are but I'll let you know in about a week. Only 3 weeks before I head for Iowa. I hope these old bones hold up till then. Lots of work getting ready.
  2. No No rain needed but right now we are sending you a bunch of dry dust at about 35 miles per hour so you can soak up some of your rain and makeud pies.
  3. I decided to change the scenery for a couple of days and drove up to City of Rocks today. It's a little chilly and I forgot to bring my heavy jacket. Things just wouldn't feel natural if I didn't forget something. I spent most of the afternoon sitting out side watching the world go by. I'll put a sweatshirt on under my light jacket and star gaze a little before turning in. I've also either forgot or lost the list of planned stops on my trip to Iowa. Tomorrow I'll do that list all over again the select parks to match the stops. Sometime before I leave I'll call each park to make sure they are still in business but won't make reservations unless they are near a large city. Reservations are aginst the boondockers code of ethics.
  4. Linda: The satellite view of Sioux Falls shows an area on the east side of the Mercedes building and a little to the north with extra long parking spaces. I plan on calling the service manager before I leave Forest city and asking if there is a place I can stay Sunday night so I can be there for the 8 AM appointment on Monday. I'll bet he comes up with something. Then after I leave Sioux Falls there are many Corps of Engineers campgrounds close to I 90. Then I'll have time on my hands before I have to be in Rapid City. After Rapid City I have no more time barriers and can just float along. Oh, I forgot. FLORIDA is where the people FLOAT along.
  5. JERI: There was nothing wrong with the slid but the loose nut behind the sreering wheel. The parking break must be set before you can operate the slide. It wasn't.
  6. JERI and Terry got here a day early so we went to Adobi Deli for lunch. I can attest to the fact that Jeri has a very big mouth. You should have seen the sandwich she got wrapped around. Note that I didn't mention Terry or myself. It sure was good to be with them again. Linda: both HWH and Lichtsinn have campgrounds Mercedes is right in Sioux Falls so I doubt it has any spare ground to camp on. I didn't talk with them. The Service Manager at Lichtsinn made the appointment 2 days after I called him then sent the particulars to me via email. He tried to call while I was on the phone but got the busy signal so told me he'd keep trying and send me an email when he got it set up.
  7. I went to the PO to send Uncle Same some money and to the bank to get a 30 day temperary bank card. As I was turning into the Low Hi RV Ranch gate, I noticed the flag on the mail box was down meaning the postman had been here. I took a look and low and behold my credit card was there. I called in to activate it then shredded the temperary card I had just got from the bank. Then came the fun of taking care of all the things I needed a card for. I call HWH for an appointment and they told me to call Lichtsinn RV (A Winnebago Dealer) because they couldn't undercut the prices of all their dealers and Lichsinn would give me a big discount. The HWH price was $4700. Lichtsinn charged me $4173 including taxes and made my appointment with the HWH factory to install them. I thought that was right nice of HWH to save me $600. Lichsinn also made an appointment for me their to fix the keyless door entry system and are making another appointment for me at Mercedes Benz in Sioux Falls SD to complete that job and told me to pay Mercedes and send the voucher to them and they will send me a check for it then collect from Winnebago for both appointments so it won't cost me a cent except for an over night RV park in Sioux Falls the night before that appointment because the appointment will be in early morning. That Sioux Falls Appointment is the closest Mercedes place to them that's in the direction I'll be going when I leave their place. Now that is service. He also said there was a recall for the hoses on the LP tank and he'll take care of that while I'm there. Can't wait to chew Jeri and Terry's ear off Saturday when they get to Deming.
  8. Who's that bow legged guy wearing chaps with a patch on his eye. I'll bet he didn't do much sitting the next day. Sorry about the accident with the eye Jeff. Hope it heals well. Does anyone have a buck to loan me for a cup of coffee. I still don't have that credit card that was compromized. I know it got to South Dakota and it was sent from there last Monday but I think the Indians got that pony Express rider. It still hasn't got here. I'll give it one more day and if it hasn't arrived I'll cancel it too and ask for another to be sent to the bank here in town for me to pick up. I can always get a temporary card from the bank here or just go draw out some more cash but it's getting me a little nervous. My cowgirls will be packing their bags If I don't take them to the Adobe Deli soon.
  9. You don't really loose weight. You alway find it again. I finally got my tax forms sent in. I lost money on just about every investment but had the biggest tax bill I've had in years. Don't seem fair. I've always been able to stay in the 15% tax bracket. This year I'm in the 30% bracket. Grrrrrrr it even made my estimated quarterly tax payments for this year larger. The fund managers sell a lot of stocks every time the market takes a nose dive and all the investers have to pay the capitol gains on every thing that was sold. I got my ears lowered today. The gal that cut my hair had to take care of her child while she worked today. I got the worse hair cut I've ever got from her. Keeping one eye on a kid while cutting hair just don't work. After the scalping party I went to Walmart for a couple grocery items and ended up with $120 worth. I must have been hungry while shopping. Or maybe I thought I needed all the bags to put over my head to hide the hair cut.
  10. The pink store paints everything Margarita Green. I don't think they have any pink left. At least our LOW member come back from there every Tuesday well painted and looking a little green around the gills.
  11. You guys need to start listening to this senile old man. I tried to warn you before you headed east. Maybe you went through some of these brain storms before you headed east. Rule number one. You travel up and down, not east and west to compensate for the weather. So come on HOME we still love you.
  12. No storms here however our weather man thinks it's winter again. It only got up to 60° today and was in the low 30's last night. Last night I run out of LP. I thought I had forgot to open the valve on the last bottle I refilled but after going out wearing my slippers and loosing one in the dark. Ouch that gravel hurts. I found that both tanks were empty. So I plugged the electric cord in and thought I had turned the breaker on. I looked in the window and saw the microwave had power. So, I came in frozen and plugged in my electric heater. Full blast. After about an hour everything went off and the low voltage light on the inverter remote was red as a beet. I went backout to look at the breaker in the electric post and found that I had turned on the 50 amp service instead of the 30 amp service and had run the batteries down using the inverter rather than running the electric heater on shore power. So the storms we get here just mess up you head and scramble your brains. But no wind, rain, lightning or thunder. Come on over and we'll go to the adobe Deli for lunch and make up some juicy stories about the rest of the classless members. That is if you still trust riding with me after last night's ordeal.
  13. My cowgirls would prefer a buck board. They think it looks sexy when we park it at the Adobe Deli.
  14. I don't think I want to drive a pink jeep. What would the boys think? I bought a ladder to hang on the back of the Navion. I don't want people to think I'm a newbe. Don't all RVs need a ladder tied to the other ladder. I spent most of the day making a bracket to hang it with. I was thinking maybe I should just weld it there. I'm not about to climb up on the roof anyway and if I welded it I'd know it wouldn't fall off on these rough roads. But then I thought I might be able to talk one of the cowgirls into climbing up there to wash my solar panels. Besides it's really hard to weld fiberglass to that steel ladder on the Navion. When I started working on the brackets this morning, every tool I needed seemed to be back at the trailer. I'll bet I made 20 trips between the trailer and the shop just bending the steel strap for the bracket into a z shape. Everytime I needed a different tool I'd close the shop door, jump into the golf cart and head for the trailer to find it. I'm getting as crazy as my rambling post.
  15. Shame on you didn't your mother tell you about those. Turn your back and close your eyes.
  16. I'm back in Deming again. I sure enjoyed the 2.5 day hiatus. It does one good to change the scenery every once in a while. While I was at Caballo Lake the camp host saw me pulling myself back to my feet after I sat on the floor with my feet on the steps to wind the awning back in. The switch is at floor level. He came over to ask if I was alright. I told him yes and explained what I was doing. He talked until I got tired from standing and invited him in. Two hours later he excused himself saying his wife will be wondering where I am. I'll have to admit it was an enjoyable conversation but it sure made getting dinner late. This morning I took a nice long walk then yakked with the neighbor a few minutes then hit the road for Deming. Ed & Linda, congrats on the new appartment. I hope you enjoy.
  17. I changed the scenery for the week end. I'm at Caballo Lake State Park but forgot to bring my tablet. So. I won't be posting again until I get back to Deming Monday because it's too hard to post on this phone. I'm in the Riverside campground that's just of exit 59 of I 25.
  18. JANICE: My surgery didn't turn out as good as I would have liked but glasses helped a lot. At least I can see road signs and Cowgirls again. So don't fret. To me you would look good even wearing beer coggles.
  19. Now this is what a forum should look like. I had a rough day today. It started out last night when I found my bank card had been compromised. I got it cut off so will live on cash until the new one arrives. Last week I ordered, among other things, a new sewer hose. My 8 year old Rhino flex had sprang a leak. The new hose was over due on getting here and I needed to dump my tanks so I could take a shower. So this morning I got the contact cement out and coated the ring the leak was in and the two adjacent rings. As I was about to put the brush back in the bottle of cement, the brush fell out of the tube that holds it to the cap. I spent the next hour trying to get all the sand out of the brush so I could put it back in the bottle. By that time the sewer hose could be compressed to glue those 3 rings closed therefore stopping the leak. So I dumped the tanks and took my shower. Then I remembered I had taken my laundry in this morning so I jumped in the truck to go get it. As I passed the office I saw the package that had the hose I ordered had come and was waiting for me to pick it up. I got the box and the laundry and returned home. This morning I had cleaned the cook top and most of the kitchen area. I had cooked 3 lbs of hamburger and naturally had a lot of splattered grease. When I walked in the trailer I had all the stuff from the kitchen to put away plus the laundry and the box full of rv parts to find a place for. Steve, Margie and Marlou had called inviting me to a homemade pizza party. So with all the junk still scattered around I turned my back on it and went to the party. When I got back I still had to deal with the junk. I finally got it all put away and now it's time for bed. And I'm totalling wasted.
  20. Linda, I never use or respond to any of the social media sites, just this site. If you remember back in 2008 we came very close to breaking up because nobody was posting. Jeri and I started bantering back and forth in a friendly way and people started coming back because we kept new post coming every day. Even people we never heard from before came in and told us they enjoyed our antics. Since that date 8 years ago I've posted almost daily. I counted everybodies posts one time and I was posting over 40% of all the posts and that was only about last spring or summer Jeri and you were next bringing we three's total post to over 75% of all post. This told me that the remaining people in the the group were not doing very much as far as keeping the forum active. Every time I'd plead for every one to post regularly I'd get a flush of good activity for about a week then it would go right back the same percentages. What I'm saying is I'll continue to respond to any post that I think I need to respond to but I'm no longer going to try to post frequently just to make sure someone post every day. If others don't care enough about keeping the group together and the forum active enough to keep people reading it and posting. So be it. If I do or go something or someplace interesting I'll post. If someone ask how I'm doing I'll respond but no more "I went to town for breakfast" or "I ran out of LP today" post from me just to have a post for the day. I have become a cranky old man.
  21. I've noticed that every since we started. Frankly, I ran out of witty things to post a long time ago. I've decided not to try and keep it active by myself. I'll post when I have something to say or to respond too like everyone else. It's a matter of use it or loose it. It's up to every one in the group. It seems that everyone would rather use Facebook or one of the other social media sites than our group site. That's fine with me. If the site goes dead from non use. So be it. I don't think I'll be able to join in on the group gatherings much longer anyway.
  22. Now your getting smart. Head west young man & Lady. I made a new shade board for my batteries on the trailer today. This western sunshine did a number on the old one. I don't use battery boxes. That's the best way I know of to forget to check the fluid level. And that can get expensive. We had 16 people at LEO (Let's Eat Out) tonight and the park is full. Last summer we were lucky to get one car full for LEO.
