Well it sure looks like the new format has done more to kill these forums than anything else ever has.  Postings are way down and these pages have had nothing for several days.  Funny, but I visit another forum that is hosted by the same folks as this one and there hasn't been any changes to it.  Just my .02

    What site is that?

  2. The class map says we are in Lake Elsinore but our pin is near Desert Hot Springs which is where we are. Not close.

    Jeff :)

    Google is confused.

If the pin is on Agua Caliente from the entrance to Mesa Grande, then the town name is correct. Anywhere else in the park is wrong.

My guess is that Google has issues with the road names within the park. Another possibility is that someone supplied incorrect information.

  3.

When I got set up and made a cup of tea a freight train came in my driver's door and went out the coach door. There was another rail road track behind the court less than a 100 yards away.

Yep, it might get a bit noisy. That is the Union Pacific mainline between TX and CA.

  4. That make sense now. It is probably much better for battery life also to use the pad on battery while surfing then turn the Jet Pack off while recharging and go on an RV park WiFi on shore power every once in a while to let it update the OS. It also explains why I couldn't find any way to turn it off or ask permission. Thanks

Your timing on the question is good. IOS 8.3 was released today.

  5. Thanks Dave my ipad is over in the shop. I'll go over there tomorrow morning and see if I can find the setting for the IOS updates, It does notify me and ask permission to download and install App updates but when it want's to redo the OS it just takes off and does it if I'm on the internet. I don't mind if I'm on a WiFi but when I'm on the Jet Pack it uses all my data allotment and don't ask about anything.

From the iPad point of view, the connection to the Jet Pack is just another WIFI connection so the automatic OS update can occur.

There is no setting to disable this "feature". The only way to prevent it from happening is to never have WIFI enabled when on A/C power and you are using the Jet Pack to get to the Internet.

  6. Just to clarify about the class map, or maybe confuse everyone.

There are actually two web sites involved. Jeri takes care of the over all look and feel. The class map itself is at a different web site, but it is embedded in Jeri's site. The map has not needed any updates in the last few years. It just keeps on ticking.

Jeri takes care of getting people on to the system and I make them disappear based on emails from Jeri.

BTW: History fact. The actual map web site was created while we spent a week at Firelake Grand Casino.

  7. The map shows you in Healy, AK. I just went back to look because I knew yo were there. If a pin isn't moved for a long time, it goes away. However, according to the map you're still in Alaska. Are you sure you're in Spokane? :D:D

There are 2 entries in the database: "Coldsmoke" and "cold smoke". The first one is not visible, so the second needs to be used.

  8. We have arrived. We looked for big spots but ended up where we were last year. We're not thrilled about it but we're here. There are spots closer to the main entrance right off the paved road but didn't think others would like that. Terry keeps saying it's only for a couple weeks so I keep telling myself ... it's only for a couple weeks ... maybe.

So, why isn't your pin at the gps coordinates? :)

  9. It appears that the problem with the map displaying old data is related to caching. The default cache value coming from the server was 1 week. I have put in a change which SHOULD tell your browser to not cache the map data. You may also need to do a page reload (sometimes under the view menu), to force loading new map data.

  10.

We were at Canton, OH at Bear Creek KOA. I tried to change it to Canton, OH with location Marsha's Brother driveway. I even tried Canton Twp at Marsha Brother driveway. It would not let me change the Bear Creek KOA.

This may seem like silly question, but I am trying to understand what is happening: Are you sure that your logon was successful? If it is, your marker will turn yellow, the map will center on your current location and the GPS Coordinates and Location buttons will be come active.

Once the logon is complete, you can move your marker by dragging, use the GPS Coordinates button to enter the GPS location, and use the Location button to update your location and site.

  11. Not sure what is going on, but something is confused.

As of right now, the database behind the map shows the following:

Joe Spiker in Carnation WA, last changed on 2011-08-29 at 13:11:55

The Weavers in Canton OH, last changed on 2011-08-29 at 15:46:52

Jim and Sandie in Gillette WY, last changed on 2011-08-30 at 14:11:41

The time in the database is CST/CDT.

The change date is set by the system. Only the map coordinates, Location and Site are user changeable.
