  1. Bruce and Sharon,

We were just at Space Craft yesterday after being there a couple of days and hoping we'd see you pull in and get a chance to chat. But some other HDT was pulling in just as we were pulling out. They were coming in on the east side of the front building as we were swinging out on the west side of the building! But it wasn't you!

Maybe we will see you at next year's rally or somewhere else down the road. Be safe.

Now we are at Rutlader Outpost RV Park, south of Louisburg, KS. waiting for our Ballots to get here.

The Hutch Rally is a possibility in 2013, I need to wait until May or so just to be sure my schedule at (work the 4 letter word) does not change. We are in Lincoln NE heading to Higginsville MO (9 mi from Concordia) tomorrow and rolling into the shop on Monday morning.

  2. We just stopped at the rest area in Spacecraft's back yard today. Never knew where they were, and after the pit stop, just before we pull out, I look up and there they are! Before last year's rally, I had never heard of them before. Hope they get everything "tuned up" wonderfully for you. They build a nice rig.

    Safe travels to all...

    Sharon

You too on the safe travels Sharon. They are ready for us with parts in stock (both the ones they make & those they out-source) so it should be quick & easy.

  3. Yea we know. Luckly we are not due in Gardiner for another 5 days. I have tire chains but my plan when I bought them was to never use them except in a emergency.

I have no chains and am sitting still until at least Tuesday (let all the weekenders get done) and really don't have to be anywhere until June 5 or 6 so we just sit & enjoy the pretty stuff. Even the water is still flowing as temp is still 33.

  4. We will pull in to Colter Bay in the Grand Tetons this afternoon. Will spend the next 5 nights there. Then off to Rocky Mountain RV in Gardiner (Yellowstone North Gate) for the next week and half.

Take your time getting up to Yellowstone Rick, we are just a little north of Gardiner in Big Timber MT and shot this pic out my back window this morning.

  5. UGH! Shudder!! I would rather take a beating than go thru Chicago's traffic!! Makes me a nervous wreck - there are too many lanes, too many vehicles, they're going fast, and half the time I'm having trouble keeping up with where I need to be - and they dart in front of us and cut us off, etc... Makes me CA-Razey! Ok, now you know what's wrong with me - Chicago driving once or twice a year!! Drive careful - they're at least HALF crazy out there...

Just a few words of advice, Garmin 465T truckers GPS with lane assist! smile.gif

  6. Camps - you were really lucky to get a nice TAIL wind instead of Jack's head wind! Helps the "bottom line" on the fuel budget doesn't it!?

Yep I was, but not to worry it's out of the north now and heading for west central Missouri tomorrow.

Where you going in SD? I will likely take the I-90 corridor through there in 10 to 14 days heading to Montana, got a cousin around Chamberlain that I need to visit.

  7. Left Junction City,KS yesterday headed towards Woodland Park, CO for the summer. Should get there today if the wind does not blow me off the road.

If that is the same south wind I had behind me today I pity you driving across it. From my side the FL is laying down some record breaking mileage having that same wind from TX to NE Oklahoma. smile.gif

  8. Diane and i are just settling in for the evening at 2L Custom Trucks "dry camping area" at the back of the shop before heading to fort worth in the jeep tomorrow.

it seems were surrounded by familiar HDT forum member rigs

    thanks again Wayland.

    don

Welcome to the neighborhood Don, we're just up the road but you likely know that as our truck is there too.

  9. Hey Camps - you're a little ahead of us. We "plan" on heading straight to Wayland's when we leave here on 3-9 - but all may change as my uncle (actually my "step uncle-in-law" - but we love him more than my real uncle) has had a heart attack and a quad bypass and is NOT doing well. So we may not get to keep our "anniversary" date (3-9 is our 7th anniversary of moving into the house - so that's the date we wanted to move OUT). We may end up going to MO if he can hang in there till 3-9 - or I may have to fly out there for the funeral prior to us leaving if he doesn't make it. Anyway, let us know how you like the rv park there as we'll need a place to hang our spurs as well... We're praying that uncle will hang in there till it's time to leave, then we'll just go to MO instead of TX first...

    Sharon

The park is fine & very big rig capable. We're in a 90 foot pull-through so plenty room for truck, trailer, & Smart. 24 channel cable, free wi-fi that works, & steady 50 amp power! Rather empty as it is off season, but I like it that way. Road gets a bit of traffic during the day but quiets down at night, much better than near the interstate in Weatherford where we stayed the last time up this way. Owners are real friendly and interested in the trucks that keep coming to see a man in Poolville. Big dog run & plenty to do for everybody. It is a trip (about 20 mins) to get groceries in Jacksboro so come stocked up and you should have a great time. cool.gif

Best wishes on your uncles health.

I did submit this campground to the HHRV HDT campground finder.

  10. Cool - now there's three of us from the same fleet (our trucks that is...). 4Girls&aMan has a "sister truck" from the same fleet as our truck - so I assume that yours is also from that fleet. Kinda cool to have "sister trucks" out there in our group! You guys coming to the ECR in TN?

    Sharon

Won't make ECR as although full time I still work and that falls during a work cycle for me.

  11. Our full time adventure starts in just over a month - on March 9th, we hit the road full time! Still here in CO with snow and wind trying to sell as much as possible before we leave. Just about got a nice size dent in it - but we're talking about our lifetime accumulation of collecting, hobbies, and what not's. I should have gotten serious about de-stuffing about 5 years ago when things were selling!

Getting jazzed for the East Coast rally in April... Hope to see many of you there.

    Sharon

Ahhh, my truck's sister truck finally goes full-time! I saw it several times while Wayland was doing our's, congrats on the lifestyle change and hope it works out for you!

  12. We are at the Fredericksburg RV Park on High St. Sites are nice and long, we can part the Volvo RV and Smart Car with no problems. All pull thru's and the park is localy owned and the family works at it. The Park cooked 13 Turkey's and some ham and mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing and we all brought salads or deserts, very nice little Thanksgiving Dinner.

Nice! Well sorry we will miss you as it looks now as if pulling in 1 Dec, enjoy the trip south!
