Same problem ever spring, anxious to head north but, never sure what surprise mother nature has in store. If you are just looking for a place to hangout for week. I suggest the SKP Co-op in Pahrump. There isn't much to do here but it is quiet and cheaper than Las Vegas. Also you would be close enough to visit Death Valley as a day trip. I think they have open sites but, you might give them a call before you head over the hill.
