    • Toni: We like Cochiti Lake it is about hallfway between Santa Fe and Albq. It's a COE lake and has a nice campground with boondocking sites. It also has nice toilets with showers. Its about 15 mi. S of Santa Fe and a few mi. W. There is a convience store and laundry mat and cheap gas.

  3. Well the time is winding down at the campground. Just six more weeks, It has been busy, the last seven weekends both campgrounds have been full, it has started raining every afternoon and it's getting cooler too, so it should slow down a little. Hope everyone is well and happy. I just thought I would bump this thred back up before we lose our ID.

  4. There are some days.

About 99% of the campers in our park are wonderful or at least low maintenance and then there are those others.

Last weekend I asked a guy to turn down his truck stereo (he was about 50 feet away so he couldn't hear it, he whined) and stuck his face in mine and said "Who are you? the music gestapo?"

Last night a camper had their dog off leash, pooping on another campsite, no doggy bag. We asked her to leash the dog and she said that it was blind and arthritic so it should not have to be. We would have let that go, maybe, but then we noticed that she had her tent off the site. We asked her to move it and she said she wasn't going to sleep on gravel and could we rake it. We did. Then she asked us to remove some boulders that were not even on the site. The whole time she is going on about how she was a teacher (they are on strike here) and how is she supposed to afford $200??? for camping. We asked her again to leash her dog and move her tent, she refused. Doug said we would be back in the morning. This morning nothing had changed, no leash, tent still where it was. She, now joined by three gnarly men camping with her, went totally beserk! Threatened Doug and was throwing the stuff out of our golf cart. So we evicted them, called the cops. The cops stayed until they were out of the park. One of the guys did come to the gatehouse. We had locked ourselves in but he tried to break the door down.

Just another day. 79 days in the park and still only 2 full days off. We are burning out. Doug and Sue will be here this weekend.

Hi Toni: We have had a good year so far. Hope I am not pessimistic but I dread going around the campground in the mornings, hoping to not find campers like you had. [We have had them in the past]

  6. Move yesterday from Albuquerque to Montrose, Co. There was weather moving in so wanted to miss it. Unfortunately there was road construction between Silverton and Ouray that delayed our trip. We sat on top of Red Mountain Pass (11,075 ft.) by big snow banks for a couple of hours. We watched tv and had dinner. Then it started to snow and hard too. Decided better move on to mile marker 87 and get in the line. Snowed all the way down to the construction zone. The snow stopped just before the line started to move. The road was just wet. What a beautiful drive. I've been on Hwy. 550 a few times before and it is spectacular.

    Travel same everyone.

  8. I took the truck in for an oil change today. After three hours of waiting for it I was charged for rotating the tires which I had told the service guy to skip. When I checked the air pressure I found two wheels on one side with 70 lbs of air and the two on the other side with 65 lbs of air. That tells me they didn't rotate them properly and that they don't check the air pressure after they do what ever rotating they did. I think this will be the last time that truck goes into a Che vy dealer. I trust independent garages one heck of a lot more than I do dealers. It ended up costing $108.00 for an oil change and filter. I bet it wouldn't cost more than 60 at my favorite garage. The diesel does take a lot more oil than a gasser but 108 bucks is robbery. Well now that I got my gripe for the day off my chest I'll sleep a lot better tonight. Maybe I should take a little medicinal cranberry juice just in case.

I had our oil and filter changed at Quick Car for $86.00. Had brake pads and one rotor at the chevy dealer here in Paducah

and they charged me $780.00 I felt like that was at least double what it should cost elsewhere.

  9. Eric:

Ours went out a couple a of years ago and we put a rebuilt Amish cooling unit in and it is still working good. The unit was $530.00 and we got $100 back for returning the old core. The total cost labor all was around $800.00. The tech that put it in wouldn't warrant his labor because of the rebuilt unit but it worked for us.

  11. You just never know who will show up on your doorstep. We had the pleasure of meeting Ed & Lyn (Lynlou) Gilespe today here at The Original Ranch in Lakewood, NM. They walked to our rig and started talking to Glyn, and being shy as he is, he learned who they were right off. We would like to thank Delsie for the hotdogs and mustard we enjoyed for supper tonight, that was real thoughtful of you to send them along. We had a great visit during and after the happy hour here and tomorrow they will venture to Carlsbad to see the sights. Hope everyone out there is doing fine, we are hanging out here until the middle of April and will then make our way to Goshen for the boot camp and escapade and Amish made cheese, pretzels, bread, cookies yummm. I wonder if they make ice cream?? Diane & Glyn

Glad Ed and Lyn made it to the Ranch, we bragged about it a lot. We spent a couple of pleasant weeks with them at Yuma. We are with Mike and Julie, Dave and Nancy and had a day with Tom and Dianne here at the Saguaro SKP park before the left for Tucson.
