  1. I talked to the Polk County Tax Office, and they reassured me that we could use form VTR-270 instead of having an inspection since the vehicle is out of state (like we did with my car when we first established TX residency). Thanks for that advice Kirk! Now to get the dealership on board...
  2. We are residents of Texas and bought a toad while spending some time with family. Our RV is in the shop for an unknown amount of time. The dealership we bought the car from in North Carolina insists that we must have the vehicle inspected in Texas before they can start on the DMV paperwork (title and registration). Meanwhile the clock is ticking on the temporary, 30 day dealer plates we have on the car. There is essentially no way we can get the car to Texas before they expire. Has anyone been in this situation before? I'm really reluctant to drive or tow it halfway across the country with expired plates.
