  1. You have MUCH bigger rig than me. We have a 30' 5th wheel and a chevy 2500 with 6.0 engine. Much more power that I need but both a used and the price was right. We now have 2-2200 honda generators on a shelf attached to the rear of the 5th wheel with an extra 6 gallon gas tank. It seems to work. We will see when we go 3,000 mile trip the end of this month Thanks for your info
  2. I have made my decision. My FW has a receiver that will carry 300 #'s, a carrier that will carry 500#'s, to remove the sloppiness between the receiver and the carrier I ran a weld beed where the two come together. i have 2 Honda 2200 generators, an extra tank. I bought a rubber mat at Lowe's tout on the floor of the carrier so I won't have any viberation in the FW. Finally, I have a rain proof cover made and 2 bicycle cables to prevent somebody taking them. I hope it all works. The generators only have 6/10 of a gallon of gas, thus the need for the 6 gallon extra tank, I do no not want to get up in the middle of the night to get more gas. Plus, it is always ready to use.
  3. We will go to northern Illinois to see a son a daughter, then farther north to see grand daughter.. On to Iowa to see son and family, on to Des Moines to see daughter, son in law 3 grand children and 3 great grand children. in Omaha we will see son and daughter-in-law. Spend a good bit of time in Utah, then Austin TX to see grandson and then home. I would like to stay longer but We have to finalize a golf tournament to raise money for Homeless Families with Children. Every child deserves a home.
  4. A mirror on the back on the 5th wheel makes things MUCH easier. Also, one on truck makes it easier to hook up.
  5. Will some one please tell what you all talking about?
  6. I planned to leave the generators in the bed of the truck to the rear of the box. Now i find that would require "hooking up" each time I use the generator with the the long range tanks. I don't want the AC to quite at 3AM. I am thinking of using a cargo carrier that fits in the receiver on the back of the 5th wheel and leave in ready to go any time i need it.Any one try that?
  7. I think that I'm going to stay in Hollywood. Any parks better than others?
  8. Thanks for the reply. I have ordered 2 2200 watt inverted from Northern Tool. They gave a 10% discount with my VA card.. What about using in the rain. What if you start the evening dry and it's starts to rain when you are sleep and you don't it it's raining? I bought the wiring package to connect the two, a rain cover, and an extra tank. I hope it all works out. Did anyone have one stolen?
  9. I need to find a campground in north maimi
  10. I have had several RV's, all came with a generator, 4000w. Now I have a 5th wheel with NO generator. What do I look for in a portable? I have a 13,500 AC. How many decibels is reasonable? Is an inverted as good as a generator? I know folks talk about Hondas, but how about the ones we can by from Harbor Frieight, $300.00 verses $2,000 just an ol farm boy. Another question: 20 years ago the truck that I had at the time, it was easy to look out the back window into the box and see the hitch as I backed up to hook up. My new truck does not have that luxury. Does any one have a procedures took make the hooking up process easier?
  11. Does anyone have any great ideas about installing two Honda 2200 generators in my truck bed and use with my 5th wheel. Can they run in the rain? thanks, The ole farm boy
  12. It may be possible to have a drive shaft disconnect or a transmission pump and still tow flat.
  13. does any one have any info on camera for the bed of a truck as well a rear end camera?

  15. Thanks for the info. I think that I can mount it semi permanently on the back using the trailer hitch. Jayco says that we can handle 300#. I have decided to delay the decision till spring. WE have two trips planded that all with hookups. In the spring I hope to go west and I will need a generator.
