We are in a park called Big Oaks and it lives up to the name. We have the antenna as close to the road as possible but there is still some obstruction on the east side. You can load the Starlink app on your phone and use it to determine your obstructions, no account required.

    Thanks for the reply.

Personally I am getting on average latency of 45ms and it goes as high as 90. I blame the occasional high on tree coverage where we are.

How much tree coverage do you have.  Where we spend the summer has some trees.  Would be interesting to know just how much one could get away with before it became useless.  Even 5mb is better than nothing with a Verizon completely overloaded tower.  Which is what we deal with.

Visible runs through its own servers and that adds an extra hop, extra processing and delay potential to internet access.  I suspect it not having straight through access to the internet is some or all of the problems.  I tell people that if they have a choice, to not depend on Visible as their only internet source and to be really worried about it as your only phone for voice and texts.  But many don't want to spend much money and are willing to deal with the issues.

I have no skin in the game since I do not have Visible, but do recommend it with caveats. I have the no longer available unlimited Verizon prepaid hotspot plan, so I have Verizon covered.   But that plan costs more.

    Bill,

I too have the unlimited prepay grandfathered plan. I don't know if you are having the same experience as I, but, Verizon seems to be more aggressive at slowing this service down than they have in the past.  I have gone to many of the same places that I would normally get 20-30mbps down that now I am doing good to get 2 or 3 in the exact same spot, at the same times of the day.

Our 40' 5er was stored outside, it had wet-cell batteries which always were at least 50% SOC after 6 months of unattended storage. It has more to do with eliminating phantom loads than battery type.

My farm tractor sat parked for a year, and started as soon as the carb filled with gas.

It is a fact that AGM batteries degenerate more slowly the flooded ones.  They can also be discharged to deeper without doing damage to the battery.  Here is a link to all you would like to know about AGMs.  https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/absorbent_glass_mat_agm

  5. One other reason for AGMs is that they degenerate more slowly than wet cells do.  For us the advantage is that we leave our rv in storage for approximately 6 months out of the year.  I disconnect the batteries so no parasitic sources can drain the batteries.  Even after 6 months they have enough power left to operate the hydraulics for the landing jacks and get it connected to my truck.  Where I store it, there is no way to keep the batteries charged.

Let me know how this goes. I know what hell I went through to get mine fixed when it did the same thing. Are you a heavy downloader? They tried to tell me I had exceeded the "fair usage amount", which wasn't possible. They eventually got mine fixed but it took me almost 2 weeks, a replacement jetpack and finally 1 kid with some above average intelligence.

Well one day after renewal of the plan, everything is peachy again.  No drops no troubles.  This indicates that it is a problem with Verizon, not a hardware problem.  Verizon is messing with us on the day of our renewal.  For what reason, I don't know.

Since I posted last I have had to reboot the MIFI 2 times.  I guess you could say we are heavy users, we went thru 103 gb this month.  Two Phones a computer and a tablet and some netflix  went thru this thing this month.  Actually that is less than last month and we didn't have this kind of trouble last month.  I see that my payment went thru just a few minutes ago.  Will see if this calms down for a while.  Interesting thing, after I reboot the MIFI it see a signal strength of -65db with a signal to noise ratio of 16 db.  That is quite good.  But after a while it falls off to -93 db and a SNR of 5 or 6.  Don't know what is going on there.  It acts like it is loosing a couple of its' 4 antennae inside, or its radio fluctuates.  Don't know, just brain storming.

I have Apple phone and iPad, have an outdoor account, own my equipment and still can’t use the app. I’m not on pay as you go, but that’s not the reason they gave me. They said it’s because my equipment is a hopper 3 and that is marked as residential equipment and not usable in an RV so my account doesn’t qualify. Sounds like any excuse will do. I keep complaining in every survey about 2 to 3 times a week.

Hate to tell you this, but surveys are a joke.  They are only put there to make you think that someone cares.
