    Hi everyone,

Haven't heard from you all in a while.

We are in an RV resort in Apache Junction till the end of March. We had planned on staying just a couple of months till the mother-in-law's health improved, but liked the place so well we decided to extend through the end of March.

Where is everyone staying at right now?

I have not checked in quite awhile. I think the last time I posted we were in Yellowstone. Made it up to Montana, to visit relatives then into North Dakota went to  Teddy Roosevelt NP and then had to make it back to Indiana for some repairs. Got it all fixed up and went to Michigan to the UP and Mackinaw Island. Then across to  NY state and then spent a Month in Maine....

Back to visit the kids and grands in NJ for a few weeks then down the coast to  Cape May, Ocracoke Island, Charleston then Savanah. Shot over to Atlanta (well the outskirts) to visit he other Kid and grands Then off to where we are now Perdido Key in Florida have been here almost a month we leave on the 15th. Off to Manatee springs for a few weeks then to Fort DeSoto State park for a few weeks then the Keys for a week then up near Cape Canaveral for the rest of the winter. Whew I’m exhausted just typing all that! :) I need a beer!

  2. I was out there this past summer. Did not camp there but took a drive out there in the Jeep. I think I have some video, let me look and if I find it I will post a link. It is an awesome place to boondocks as far as location there were a lot of people out there. Some big 5er’s and some big MH’s too along with smaller rigs.

Well it looks like we are going to make the class of 2020 after all. Our house went on the market yesterday and we signe an offer for several thousand dollars over asking price this afternoon. Closing tentatively set for the middle of September. Full time RV life here we come!

Congratulations! Full time life is waiting for you! I’m having a great time and I’m sure you will too.

Gros Ventre is our favorite campground for the Tetons.  Don't have to deal with reservations and we've always gotten a site.  Convenient for grocery shopping and fuel in Jackson.... nice views of the Tetons ... and love the critters coming through!

It was great! Could have spent 2 weeks there...we will be back. Now in Yellowstone. Have to get out early here to beat the crowds. But I am an early riser so all is well! :)

Hey Grizz, we live in Casper, well till the house is sold. Watched the fireworks from our front yard. Dogs are going crazy haha.

Now that is funny! We watched from the KOA in Bar Nunn. Was a nice display. Great view and our little dog was fine, only because they were not that loud from where we are. If we were back in Jersey...he would be going bonkers!

  6. Hey I hear ya! We are moving a little too fast for sure. But I’m sure we will slo down. Right now in Casper Wyoming for a few days. Saw the fireworks tonight right from the campground. Had a fun time at Devils Tower and did some hiking. We will leave here on the 6th and head to Grand Teton NP.

  7. Just checking in. After leaving Iowa we arrived at a COE park in Missouri, Long Shoal. Its on the Harry S. Truman reservoir in Warsaw. Nice COE park with a spot right on the water. We have stayed in 3 COE parks and all have been excellent!  The last one was Left Tailrace CG in South Dakota, right on an island in the Missouri river. Super place to stay. Now we are in the Black hills after staying in the Badlands for 3 days. We are here for awhile because there is a lot to see and do. Mount Rushmore, Custer State park, Wind Cave National Park, Hill City, Deadwood. So much. Then its off to Devils Tower and then...not sure yet? Maybe  The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone or head north to Montana and Glacier? Having fun and enjoying this beautiful country we live in. :)

  8.  Just had my first Harvest Hosts experience and if they are all half as good as this I’ll be one Happy Camper! We just arrived at our first HH. Ertel Cellars Winery and Bistro in Batesville Indiana. And it is exceptional! The site we were given is in the middle of the vineyard and we are alone...no people no other cars no houses just trees and grapevines. There is only a space for one and we are it! We ordered food from the bistro and it was awesome. And bought and drank a bottle of their wine and it was awesome. So...If you are in Indiana and need a place to spend the night Ertel Cellars Winery is not to be missed!

  9. Just an update.  Closed on the house on the 5th. Have spent the last week at a CG not too far from our former house. Just getting organized and relaxing from the craziness of selling and moving  the last few weeks. Leaving here Friday the 12th and heading to Missouri to visit a friend an then off to South Dakota to see the Badlands and Custer SP, Devils Tower, Mt Rushmore and all the things to see and do in the area. Then...not sure yet!

It's hard for me to believe ...But our house went on the market yesterday. We've done a LOT of work over the past year..... updating, painting, landscaping, etc. The market here has been hot....I hope it continues. After living in the house for 27 years..its strange to see it on Zillow. I haven't had a margarita in a long time...but when the house sells...I'm going to have "several".

    Skeet

Well if my sale is any indication you only have a short time left in your house! Mine sold in 2 days, 7 offers and all over asking price. So I'm pretty sure those margaritas will be mixed shortly!

It's beginning to look like we are not going to make the class of 2020. My wife has been in AZ for the past two weeks because her mom had a couple serious health issues come up. DW going to bring her mom back to Casper for some physical therapy and rehab.

We are still going to sell our home but not sure if we will stay in WY or move to the Phoenix area while we are being care givers to the dear mama in law.

There is always time to travel, but the mother in law is more important right now.

I know the feeling. We missed out on the Class of 2019 graduation. Also had to delay by a few years our get away date to care for my in-laws. Your time will come and I hope your MIL gets well soon and you are back on track.

  12. Closing was pushed back a week so we close on the 5th. Out on the 4th. Still kinda tryin' to get organized! Going to spend the first week in a local campground so we can get the rig organized and figure out where to next. Quite hectic and pretty exciting!

  13. I live in New Jersey and bought my MH in Indiana. What you will find is that local dealers will generally:

    1. Tell you straight out they will not work on your RV because you did not buy it from them. (and they can its not like the Automobile world)

    2. Agree to work on it but you are a low priority because they will work on "Their" customers rigs first.

    3. They will work on your rig and everyone will be happy!

Now you can go to your local dealers and ask what they would do? 1. 2. or 3. and hope they give you an honest answer.

You can also contact the manufacturer and they will know (usually) who, in your area, will preform Warranty or other work on your rig.

Same closing date as my former home.  By far the most stressful part of the transition.  No problems sitting in a campground since mid-March.  But having my mind go wild over all the things that could go wrong with the house sale has been stressful.  On the positive side, sitting in a campground for two months has allowed us to work out a few of the kinks without compounding difficulties by traveling.

Well congrats to you and on your sale. Yeah its been awhile since I sold a house so I forgot how stressful the process can be! I was a lot younger back then and most likely didn't stress as much, or being more naive  didn't realize i should. 😂

But we have been here for 30 years so you kinda get a bit comfortable. But as of this morning all the issues have been resolved and now its up to the buyers to get their end in order and we should be good to go, Still shooting for the end of month, so we shall see. :)

  15. Just a quick update, looks like the sale is a go. There were some problems discovered during the buyers home inspection but all has been taken care of. (who knew there was a 1000 gal oil tank buried in the yard, under a deck that had to be removed to get to it. 😱) So looks like the closing is set for May 29th. Not sure where we will be headed yet or what may or may not be open? Who know what travel restrictions will be in pace at the end of the month? But hey I have a self contained rig...right! Should be very interesting and quite the adventure starting out at this point in time. 😀

  16. Yeah people are still buying...or so it would seem. My house sold, well its under contract, in 2 days from the time it hit the market I had multiple offers all over asking price. Now I'm not sure if I should have waited till after this all settles down. I might be scrambling for a place to stay if all has not calmed down by the time we close. But if I had waited and the economy has tanked, nobody will be buying. So....You play the cards as best you can and hope you have a winner. 🙂

    Congrats on the sale.

Thanks! Its not a done deal yet but I didn't think it would happen so fast with all that is going on.

on 3/17 we placed an order for Riverstone 37 MRE 5th wheel. When ordered wait time was 12 to 14 weeks. Now who knows, hoping to get it in August.

Well good luck and hopefully things will get back to a quasi normal state sooner rather then later!

  18. Ok all you 2020 folks, I'm late to the party as usual. 🙂 I was in the 2019 class but due to circumstances beyond my control, I did not graduate.

Long story and if your interested :

Well it seems there will be no 2019 graduation for us! :(

The plan was to keep my S&B, its a 2 family. My daughter and her family lived in the front apt and my wife and myself lived in the rear. The plan was for her to move to the rear apt (much bigger more bedrooms) and I would rent out the front to someone else. Sounded like a great plan...well you know what they say about the best laid plans!

They ( my daughter and her husband) have decided to buy a house and they close on the Dec 16th. So now I will have to wait till they are out and do what needs to be done to the front apt and put the whole shebang on the market. I don't want to be an absentee landlord and have the worries about what may/will go wrong while we are on the road. Even with a property management Co. I would not be comfortable. So with the work that needs to be done and then putting the house on the market, 2019 graduation ain't happening.

So...Congrats to all the 2019 graduates! Looks like I will have to transfer to the class of 2020.

So I did the work that was needed and put the house up for sale. Well COVID-19 enters the picture. I was figuring that NOBODY was going to come look at my house. What I did figure was I'd get it out there on the market and when all this calmed down people would start looking again.

Well boy was I wrong! 2 days on the market and lots of interest. Lots of appointments and 7 offers, all over asking. I did not count on this. Just when you think you know what is going to happen...it does not.  Scratchin' my head go figure.

If you now pay state income tax, this could be a beneficial change of plans.

Yes it might be! Jersey likes its taxes! Income, property, sales, and rain!

Just more of a headache than I was prepared for, I would have started the domicile search way earlier if I would have known about my daughters change of plans. But that is what makes life interesting....right.😂

I also have to rethink domicile. I was going to keep my address the same and have her collect any mail but now I'm not too sure on what domicile route to take? Well they say things happen for a reason so I'll just roll with it and see where it takes me. :)

So...Congrats to all the 2019 graduates! Looks like I will have to transfer to the class of 2020.
