I think the jerky video I was watching created an optical illusion that the base of the hitch was pivoting in two locations. With a good internet speed I can see that what I thought I was seeing was incorrect.

That is insane! How does that ever leave the prototyping stage of development into production?

It might be an optical illusion but is the trailer slightly nose high? If so, I wonder if that's tweaking the geometry of the hitch design?

I wish I hadn't invested all of my money into another business or I might've just shut everything down and bought desolate roses truck and gone camping. Lol

Now just imagine the time it took for achem me to do all of the work I did with one part time helper working 60 hours a week plus running his own business working on a Race Car Team, lol!

More like slopped it on. We ran out of time and had rain in the forecast and I didn't want to run it in the rain unprotected so I gave the order, "Just get it on as fast as you can with the primer coat!". Well, I wasn't expecting slop but that's what we got.

How about a full profile shot that shows the whole bed, cab, jeep and trailer nose? You can cut the jeep out of the pic and articulate it on the rest of the photo and see what mod can gain you the most clearance.

Looking good. Is it correct that you went from a taller ratio of 3:08 to 3:36? It must have been lugging it with the 3:08 so when you went to the 3:36 it must have gotten it into the power band more to help improve the fuel mileage. Most people would have tried gong the other way to improve mileage.

Keep an eye on the screws. My deck is welded 3/16 but the center section between frame rails is screwed and the screws keep coming loose from frame flex.

Your correct the former owner did a great job. And did most of the hard work for you.

I'll be in Calistoga and Petaluma over Labor Day weekend for the USAC Sprint Car races. I'll try to swing by afterwards to checkout the progress.
