  1. East Coast Rally Update:

Several days during the rally there will be a scheduled ladies crafting/ social gathering. Donna has been working with Alicia White ( thank you Alicia) and they have come up with crafting a scrapbook detailing the ECR, HDTing, and each person's involvement in their RVing adventure. The plan is to allow each lady to create two pages front and back that would best illustrate their personal adventure. Basic scrap booking supplies will be provided but they are asking for any lady wishing to be involved to bring any photos, mementos, etc. that they wish to include. The hope is the book can be displayed at the BBQ dinner on Friday night and at happy hours if completed prior. Those ladies not interested in participating are still invited to show up for "socializing" and arm chair quarterbacking.

Alicia will also be conducting the RDBE meeting at the ECR.

  2. Hello everyone hope you are all having a great summer.!

Sharon will add you to my prayer list. I know you will do great. Ice works great on shoulder pain. I had a vest connected to an ice chest that continuously ran cold water through it.

Heidi really enjoyed meeting you and your family and getting to know you. Hope to see you again at the ECR 2015 and on the road.

We are enjoying Millenicom instead of the slowwwww DSL.

Janet we are loving all the beautiful pictures and following your travel to Alaska. I miss having you close by. We are heading to Deer Run soon for 5 nights of much needed R and R. Carl has been putting in long hours. I can't wait until the end of July when he will go half-time. . We are traveling to Gettysburg, Hershey and Lancaster, PA with Steve and Gail Dixon in July. We will be staying at the campground near Hershey where Jeff and Cindy Brett are work camping this summer. Looking forward to spending time with these good people. As of now we are planning to attend our first National HDT Rally in October.

Safe travels everyone! God Bless and Happy Memorial Weekend!

  3. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and will have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year!

We are in transition. House sold in 3 days, but 24 hrs before closing the lender pulled their funding to the buyer! Immediately back on market and showings galore, another contract 6 days later. We are hopeful around the end of January we will get to the closing table and be done with that. In the meantime, we moved some items (way too many) to our home base in Oak Hill, FL.

The Rig was moved to Yukon RV Park, Jacksonville, FL and Raymond has a 2.1 miles commute to work for the duration. 8 March 14 Retirement Date! As soon as I can get some boxes unpacked, sorted, etc I'll be in Jax with him. In the meantime, we are getting done what we need done! Looking forward to our FL exit 16 March 2014. First stop a month in Crossville, TN and the ECR 2014.

    Safe travels to all.

    Janet

    Janet:

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. It has been a very busy year for us. We have been working on our sticks and bricks home,(Still ongoing) entertaining family from Texas, and camping when we have time. We also are busy spending time with all our grandchildren; especially now with all the holiday programs and Christmas break coming up. . We plan to put our home on the market this next year and prepare for Carl to slow down to working at least half time. This will hopefully will allow us more time to travel around the US in our Suites! We really enjoyed meeting Janet and Raymond in Charleston in August for a few days of camping and sightseeing. Also, looking forward to seeing everyone at the ECR in April 2014 at Deer Run RV Resort. Want to wish everyone Merry Christmas,Happy New Year and Safe Travels!!

    Hi all,

Sharon, yes, we all are enjoying our new rig. The kids love having their own "mini room" with great toy storage! I have done several sewing projects now and have obviously cooked many meals, and I LOVE the lay out. It is so perfect for us.

Alicia, can't wait to see your pics. Sounds like you made some very special memories.

Donna, I lived near Maryville for several years before acquiring my DH and really loved it there. Have traveled all over the US and that's still one of my top 5 places in our beautiful country. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. It has been a really busy year for us. We love it here. Moving here after growing up in the plains of Texas to mountains and trees everywhere. .

We are totally enjoying our time here in NH with Davena et al. DH and Davena's hubby keep finding projects to work on and we are so enjoying Davena's sweet hospitality.

  7. Sounds like a wonderful trip, Alicia! Can't wait to see your pictures!

Raymond and I just returned from meeting my half brother and his wife (from Houston) in Pensacola. First time of staying on a military base and it was wonderful. We were within walking distance of the Pensacola Lighthouse, Navy Museum, IMAX, and Fort Barrancas. Edge of the RV park was on Pensacola Bay with White Sands and Crystal Clear water just like the Gulf of Mexico there. Fun Times! We were real adventurous and allowed them to sleep on our aerobed/couch! We, most likely, will not do that often....quarters are just too small for that; BUT we had perfect weather in Pensacola and stayed outside the RV except for sleeping! So, it was a good experience!

Already can't wait for our next short trip: 5 days in Charleston, SC with the Wagners and the Dixons. That will be 'it' for us and trips this year....tires all around will be the next order of business. HAHAHA

    Janet:

Ditto! Can't wait to see all of you and show you the sites of Charleston, SC. Fun times! Feel your pain of the tires all around..

  8. Tennessee is a beautiful state! Where in TN are you? I grew up in Little Rock so we had a little bit of what TN offers.

We just left Grand Tetons after spending 2 days there and 8 days in Yellowstone. Wow! Wow! Wow! What an amazing adventure this one was. We ALWAYS have a awesome wildlife encounters, but the might before leaving takes the cake!!! Two Grizzlies circled our car (along with ab out 12 other cars) within feet of us as they grazed, wanderedaround and ate on a carcass.

We also spent the night and day with the Cravens. Mike and Suzan (Boomer's parents), really know how to put out the hospitality!!! We ate good for those 24 hours: good burgers and steaks! Oh, and they have the perfect spot for our HDT rigs - right next to their hanger!! Their new home and land is a restful and comfrotable place. Can't thank Mike and Suzan enough for hosting us! We'll be back!

    Alicia,

We are in East Tennessee, a little town outside Maryville in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. We live on six acres and love watching the wildlife around here. We have seen deer, foxes, turkeys, possums, etc.

Wow, your bear encounter sounds fascinating. Hope to be able to see grizzlies one of these days. We have seen black bears in the smoky mountains.

Look forward to meeting you and Rick one of these days..

    Safe travels,

    Donna

  9. We are back in Crossville, TN where we had the 2013 ECR Rally and it is cool and windy. It feels like March or April and the Dogwoods are still in bloom. We are here for a little r and r and then back home and back to work for Carl. We would love to plan a trip to Yellow Stone one of these days. Alicia we are originally from Texas but fell in love with Tennessee.

Safe travels and great adventures everyone,

    Donna

  10. What a small world! My daughter lives in Franklin,TN and was driving home from Doctors office when she came up beside an HDT pulling a New Horizon with Texas plates. She described the rig and occupants to me. Well of course I said that sounds like Sue and Bob Guthrie. She then texted me with a picture and I was right; it was Sue and Bob. You never know ........

    Happy Trails

  11. Sharon:

Thanks. I hope we are able to retire next April. There are a lot of factors that have to fall into place and we are working on it.

No, we will not be able to make Hutch this year. Maybe next year. We missed seeing you too. It was a great week.

    Take care and safe travels,

    Donna

  12. Sharon,

We came straight home. Carl is still working but we hope to retire in the next year or so. We are hoping for April 2014! We are planning to travel as much as possible this year but save the longer trips for after retirement.

We really missed you at the rally. It was a wonderful week.

Will pray that you are able to sell your home in CO.

    Safe Travels,

    Donna

  13. Hello ladies I finally decided to get on the forum. We had a wonderful time at the 2013 HDT ECR Rally. It was great to see old friends and make many new ones. Thanks to Janet (jags1fan) for conducting the RDBE meeting and the Crafts Seminar along with renovating or refurbishing your campers. Thanks to Gail for bringing the SUV and transporting us for various activities around Crossville. (Especially ladies shopping day) Deer Run RV Resort, (Kim and Rolando) made even more improvements since last year and more planned for next year. They plan to construct a new pavilion in our loop where we had the easy ups this year. Thanks to all for the card and the wonderful bag of goodies. If you have any suggestions for next year please let us know. We are already in the planning stages. :-). Safe travels.

    Donna
