  1. Doggirl, from what I hear, this end of the season push is normal. All the utility companys have to get their regulatory work done by the end of the year. Nov gets here and the panic begins, I'm doing 50 hr wks in Baltimore and buddies in GA were doing 6 day weeks for a while. this to will end. take the overtime while you can.

  2. Hi All, sorry I don't check in here all that often. The work with Southern Cross has been going well. After my initial training they placed me in SE Georgia mid May. Nice quiet rural Georgia. Hotter than Hades tho. I figured we would be there through the summer as I had the whole district to do. Last week of June they called and said they had my next assignment. Great says I, should be done here in a couple o'months. No says they "you need to be in BALTIMORE by July 5!"

So we are now in the DC/Baltimore area. Its been interesting. We've enjoyed being here to see the the sites of DC and get paid for it. The Baltimore Gas Co people have been wonderful to work with. Southern Cross has really followed through with all they promised. All in all its working out OK. Its not retirement. It is a job. you will sweat. you will get tired. you will see and experience things not on the tourist maps. You will get paid to travel and live somewhere else.

it serves our purpose for now.

Well I applied to SCC and was hired on. They sent me to California for my training and assignment. They were working 4 10 hr days. When i started work fridays were then made mandatory and now saturdays are mandatory. 6 10 hr days is not what I was wanting. I thought we could go site seeing on the 3 day weekend but no so we were doing it only on a normal weekend plus after doing all that walking you are tired so you do need a day of rest but now with 6 days, sunday is going to be rest only no more site seeing.

The pay and per deim is good, however you have to ask yourself do you really want to work a 48 hr physical work week? You get about 2 hrs worth of drive time and paper work per day even though you are away from the house for 10.5 hrs. Could be worse I could be looknig for a job in the hvac field which is a little slow this time of year and due to the economy.
