My wife and I are in our 70's. Our experience is with a 1996 25 ft class C Jayco with a bed over cab (my spot) and a rear queen bed for my wife. (We have no animals or kids.) It is pure joy to travel in and to live in. It would be a challenge to fulltime in it as a boondocker, lacking the large gray and black tanks as well as the freshwater tank. It does great in a 5 week trip.

You will have no problem with storage. It's built on a E-350 Ford chassis. Everything was trouble-free across our two maiden voyages.

I never expected to have my back against the wall and have so much resistance from zoning regulations, or general resistance to leaving a static address and just driving off.... It's a little unnerving, in this country, to me.

I hope nobody else has had such trouble finding straight answers to what seem simple questions... But then again, I started looking in earnest AFTER COVID-19 so I'm sure it has much to do with it.

I live in Michigan and zoning regulations are at the township level. I have not found any variation between townships on the issues of living fulltime in a motorhome on your land or living in a tiny house. Every township I have looked at have rules about the number of square feet in the dwelling.

In Texas, however, zoning regulations are at the city level, so you are most likely going to be allowed to live in a tiny house or in your motorhome outside of cities/towns. 

That was my takeaway after doing as much study as suited me..

Out here in Africa, where we have lived the past 39 years, we have seen our daughter take the step of saying she'll take on most of our stuff 'n' junk when she and her family come in 2016. The outcome, we have much less to get rid of! We have a buyer for our pickup truck lined up who will take it over when we get on the plane on July 29.

In the meantime, we have to finish some literacy materials in 2 African languages we have been studying.

My DW has done her research on the 'net and decided upon a B+ coach of a certain make. Until it turns up on the market, we'll rent an apartment and furnish it minimally. At this point, we can only dream about what this new adventure will look like.

I told her today about "2-2-2": Travel no more than 200 miles before stopping. Stop before 2 PM. Stay 2 nights.

My DW and I gave away our fully depreciated pop-up truck camper here in Africa, and we are coming back this July, a month before my 66th birthday. We will try to sell some off our stuff here, notably the 1996 single cab pickup truck.

The plan is to get a 9-month lease on an apartment in Michigan and then buy an RV. Currently leaning to the newest floorplan of the class C Forest River Solera. It has has a walk-around queen bed on the full wall slide-out. The benefit of never getting a home is that we'll be that much closer to fulltiming.

Tentative date for beginning our life on the road: June 1, 2016. I'll be a work-camper, trying to wind up our life-work in 3 previously-unwritten languages while on the road. We will also be helping our daughter, also a missionary, start a PhD program in linguistics.

We plan on maintaining our MI domicile and using a local-to-us UPS office there to forward us our mail along with giving us a virtual physical address good for all purposes.
