Absolutely us too! I started a post over in the Beginning RV forum. I wanted to get seasoned RVers input. You can read it here:

We are still in our rental apartment waiting to get an idea of when we might get to leave. Both of us like to plan and this is frustrating how to go from here. I already had itchy feet and was ready to hit the road by mid may, this is killing me!

I still have a lot to get rid of and sell. Cant figure out how to have a social distance safe yard sale. I spend hours every day geting stuff posted on Ebay that is small enough to ship.

So one day we will be joining the class of 2020 and what a story we all will have to tell for years!

Stay safe y'all - until we meet one day.

    Abby

I feel for you Abby! Our lease in our rental home (we sold our home 1 year ago in preparation for full timing) is up and we have had to find a new apartment. We just can't leave right now. We hope to be able to get on the road by October (before snow flies!). We also have a little bit more to get rid of - some furniture pieces and the rest donation (but Good Will is closed!). Who would have thought! Hope to meet you one day!!

  2. Has anyone else's plans been derailed by the pandemic?

We were supposed to go full-time on June 1 starting with a rally in Arkansas. The rally has not yet been cancelled, but we expect it to be cancelled soon. Our lease is up on May 30 but we have made the tough decision to delay our departure until October. Everything is just too uncertain right now and we don't want to add uncertainty to our new full time life on the road. Currently looking for an apartment on a short term basis.  We sold our home and most of our belongings already. As John Lennon said, Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.

Trying to remain positive and count our blessings. We still have an income, both of our kids are still employed, and we are healthy so far.

    Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Well, I guess this is us!  We were full time in a Heartland Road Warrior (2018) for a few months, but had to sell and move into a house for a few years due to my (wife's) health issues.  Surgery , 100# weight loss and lots of physical therapy and we are ready to dive in again.  But this time, we plan to move up to a Class A, go full time in 2020 and retire in 2021 to travel.

I am 62 and DH is 67 so we are really looking forward to moving on to this exciting, new chapter in our lives!  We have family and extended family scattered along the eastern seaboard, but want to travel all across the US when we retire.  We are actively searching for the right motorhome and scouring the message boards for reviews and recommendations.  Right now, we seem to have narrowed our choices to Newmar, Winnebago, Triton, Thor and possibly Coachmen.

We have 2 dogs and 3 cats at present and they will be coming along with us.  They did great in the 5th wheel a few years ago, so we don't expect any huge surprises when we pull the trigger and do this again.

So that's us in a nutshell.......

Best of luck - hope to see you one road!

So will you be living and working in WI from the RV?

Nope - taking the desk job remotely. Living and working on the road, but hubby will travel back quarterly to put in some office time. He is negotiating with his company now to make this happen. We leave at the end of May to be full time nomads!

Just decided on going with Crestview FL as our Domicile, best combined health, truck and full timer insurance on the 5th wheel. I'm only 59 so health insurance is why we picked FL.

Good to know! We hope to keep the Wisconsin job and hence the insurance and residency (small apartment), but if that doesn't work, we need to decide between Fl and TX i think...

Best of luck with that.  Mine was unexpected. They said here's the deal, you have two weeks to say yes. If you say yes, well let you know if we accept you and what your last day is, could be end of March or end of Oct.  So I went from planning to work another 1.5 years to retiring in 30 days all of a sudden.

oh my gosh - I can't imagine! We have been downsizing for two years and finally are in the home stretch. Still so much to do!!

I was hoping for an early out at the power plant I work at going to shut 3 turbines down out of 4. Two of them this year so I was hoping they would offer us something to leave to save younger guys their jobs by not yet. I’m working till April 2 and using vacation and personal days the rest of April till may 2 maybe they’ll offer something but not getting my hopes up. Anything will be extra. We’re ready to hit the road and maybe meet some other 2030ers

Best of luck! Hope you can get on the road soon!

Oh how we can relate to that. I've been in my house for almost 18 years, with me being a care giver to my then aging mother for 11 of those years. After my mom passed several years ago, I remarried. Not only did my wife and I have our stuff to get rid of, we also had a lot of stuff of my mom's.

I think you guys have the big hurdle behind you with your house being sold. Good luck on the rest of your downsizing. It gets easier as you get closer to the goal is what my wife and I have found.

Like Skeet, we hope to be in AZ next winter. We'll spend some time around Q, but will also need to spend a bit of time in the Phoenix area since we both have family there. I'm ready for my Sonoran Desert fix, haha. Maybe we, the class of 2020, should have a meet up.

Thank you for your thoughts! We will be heading to Texas around Dec. of this year and then probably making our way to Arizona after that also and ultimately San Diego where our son is stationed. We LOVE Sedona and Phoenix and Scottsdale. Would love to connect with the 2020'ers! Please stay in touch!

Welcome Good Life Highway! Sounds like you wish you could go full time tomorrow.  At least you've got the house sold...the downsizing of the belongings can be eye opening. We keep wondering how can 2 people can acquire so much..and then sell it for so little(or donate it). I was ready to go full time 10 years ago.... but my wife has been ready for about 2 years...and now....she's even more excited than I am. We too want to "get on the road" and hope this time next year we're in Arizona. Please keep in touch and let us now how you are progressing on your June 1st goal.

    Skeet

I know! it is shocking how much stuff we have released! It is freeing! It has taken the better part of two years to get the downsizing done.(and I'm not quite there yet!) Thanks for the encouragement and good luck to you too!

  10. Hi Class of 2020! My husband and I will be joining the class June 1, 2020! Sold our home a year ago and have spent the last year downsizing our belongings and researching life on the road. He is taking his job remotely and I will be doing youtube and photography (I think). We bought a 39' fifth wheel and just purchased a Ram One ton dually diesel. We are getting so excited! So much to do, but can't wait to take this life changing journey! We just joined Escapees/Xscapers and look forward to meeting new friends on the road!
