  1. Merry Christmas to everyone. We are on our way to North Carolina to celebrate with great granddaughter. She's 3 so it should be fun.

PS Just received a Guess Who game from our son in California. It has pictures of family members and its made to play with granddaughter April over zoom! Our DIL is so clever!!

  2. Ed and I have both been working with the public throughout this whole pandemic. Ed at a grocery store and me at a craft store. Knock on wood but neither of us has gotten sick. I had a medical procedure a month ago and had to take a covid test before since it was in the hospital out patient. My granddaughter is struggling mentally with the on line school. She misses her friends and her sports. I feel bad for her as a 16 year old. She's failing and will probably have to repeat her sophomore year.  Many children are suffering through this.

Praying the vaccine will help bring back normal.

Some of us don't like Facebook's inadequate security so don't go there. FOMO is not enough to make us risk it. :)

I know I am really tired of facebook. Too many ads and censorship for me. If we could get in the habit of checking this forum like we do facebook it would be wonderful.

  4. Thanks everyone. Glad to be able to catch up. We need to use this forum more to stay in touch since most of us aren't traveling any more.

Paul and Marsha...2 grandkids??? that's how long it's been. Wow. We have a great granddaughter. Our granddaughter graduated from respiratory therapist school in California and last January started her career at Duke Hospital in Durham NC. We just love having her close so we get to see her and Evelie often.

Please everyone continue to stay in touch and have a safe and Merry Holiday season.

    Linda and Ed

  5. I am not sure how many of you monitor this site anymore but I thought today would be a good day to reach out to everyone. I want to wish everyone a happy thanksgiving. Its very different this year. We are still here in Virginia and are going to enjoy the holidays with the small family that are here in the area. Daughter, SIL and granddaughter. We continue to work, Ed at Publix Market and me at Michaels.

Would love to hear from those not on any other social media. Paul and Marsha and Toni and Doug. How is everyone?

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!

We're not traveling this season but our daughter and her boyfriend are driving here to Minnesota from Montana for the weekend. Keep your fingers crossed, please, for no winter storms during that time.

    Linda

Here's praying the weather holds for your daughter's visit.  My granddaughter and family are moving from Bakersfield CA to Raleigh NC. Yes I am very happy about this. She has finished her school...respiratory therapy...and has gotten a job at Duke Hospital. They will be traveling across country on January 6th. Pray for good weather for them.

It's been a little over ten years since a bunch of RVers actually met in the Quartzsite desert.  Remember that time?   Then, we met again and again and again.  Between our gatherings who knew where any of us would be?  We were here and there and just about everywhere.  No one knew if they'd run into another until Dave Sand stepped up and created a map for us.  We all had our passwords and were so good at pinpointing our location just in case another one in the group got close.  None of us wanted to miss getting together for a lunch or dinner with a new found RV friend.  What fun we had and what great times!  Thank you Dave for that wonderful map you created that kept us all close.

Dave created that map and then I embedded it in an easy to remember (I hoped) domain name.  It was RVClass2008.com.  Well, this has been in use for those ten years but it's about to come down.  Folks are slowing down (obviously) and the use of the map has dwindled. Thus, I've decided not to renew the website for another year ....  Not sure when it'll disappear off that site but since I removed my credit card, it'll be soon.

Hopefully, you'll continue to travel and with Facebook around, we can all keep up a little there if not here!

    'Tis life on the road.

Yes we loved our time on the road but as everyone has said, soon everything has an end. We still travel but its short trips here and there. Remember anyone coming east...we are in the Richmond Virginia area!!!

One nice thing about living is such a solidly built structure is I can sit in our living room and enjoy looking through our huge windows watching the weather whatever it is doing. Storms are lovely if you don't have to worry about your house nor go out in them.

    Linda

    Me too!

  11. It was good to here from you all. Congratulations to you Paul and Marsha on becoming grandparents. They are a joy for sure. We are keeping busy here in Virginia. Ed is working on another ship model. See the picture of the last one he did. They take a very long time so it keeps him busy. He is also working part time at a local market, Publics. For those who have been to Florida you might have been to one. They use baggers and that is what he does. Works about 4 to 5 hours a day. I haven't worked since last October and now I am getting bored so am looking for something part time also. However for me, I can only work mornings as I have also become my granddaughters Uber driver LOL! She is a cheerleader at school and there is no late bus, so I pick her up from school.

Sorry to hear that you are having some health issues Toni. Hope you get them taken care of soon. It seems that this is going to be the best way to keep up with everyone. Most no longer have blogs, and not all have facebook. So lets keep this up!!

Linda -  I don't think there is any need to apologize to anyone!  And, I'm not sure who (or if) anyone was offended.  I think we all understand wanting our "own" time as much also having time to socialize a little or a lot.

We enjoyed both of you.  I think we all need to recharge our batteries every once in a while!!  I sure know I do!

    Take care of yourselves!!

I whole heartedly agree with Jeri. I remember meeting you and Dave even before the graduation in Q. We were in Needles and had lunch at Denny's. I also remember the second year we were there with the new members of 2009. Everyone had already moved on and we were the only two rigs left and with a little wood left we had one last campfire. These are the memories I cherish.

Sorry folks for all the errors in my last post. I had cataract surgery, and I think my sight was still very blurry! Since the stroke, I do have an Italian accent, but I didn't know I was writing like I just got off the boat. Please forgive an old Italian woman. :) Marsha

Haven't lost your sense of humor!  At my last eye doctor appointment, she said I was developing cataracts.  Ed had his surgery a couple of years ago.  He very rarely wears his classes any more. That's what I want!

We enjoyed cruising. We went on a weekend cruise out of Miami on a Disney ship when Siskel & Ebert sponsored a movie cruise. We did that annually for several years. Then we discovered river cruising in Europe and enjoyed a couple of those as well. We never did a week long Caribbean cruise which is what most people from the USA think of when discussing cruises although we did do a week long cruise around the Hawaiian islands. I would like to have cruised the Mississippi on a riverboat but we never got around to that one since it starts in St Paul so we could easily do it anytime, right? :)

    Linda

We would love to do a Mississippi River Cruise. Its very expensive though. Travel agent said that the prices may be dropping so we keep watching the prices.

They don’t look like they have aged a year. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys. Just read your blog, tried to comment but wouldn't let me. Glad you are doing good. Grandchildren are a joy and I see a lot of babysitting in your future. We still like to travel and are planning a couple of days on the Blue Ridge Parkway next week and a trip to Boston next summer. And we have fallen in love with cruising so we are going next year to the Caribbean with daughter and family. Never know, we may show up in Ohio.

I didn't know how to get the Lavins picture on here so Linda and Dave helped me out.

We had breakfast with them this morning and had such a fun visit.  They are doing really good and are happy to be off the road. They just got back from an Alaskan Cruise and have already booked their next cruise to the Caribbean. Living the good life. Thanks for meeting up with us.

Thanks, we had fun too. So who's coming to Virginia next??

Linda and Ed - good to hear that everything is working out for you guys. We are still planning on being in your area in October. Haven't heard any updates on Marsha. Hopefully Paul will post something for us. Our plans are to leave Apache Junction this Sunday. Going to be 110 here that day.

    Looking forward to it.

I'm slow on the uptake today. At first I wondered what Linda Lavin was up to now. :)

    Linda

    Hi everyone,

We are doing great.  We moved to a downstairs apt back in October.  So much better. Specially with groceries.  I am enjoying my part time job at Kohl's. I usually give at least half of my paycheck back to them! LOL.  Ed has gone back to Amazon here in Chester Virginia. He is quitting for good the end of July.  We are taking a cruise to Alaska over Labor Day. Really looking forward to that. We fly into Seattle on Aug 30th and get back into Seattle on Sept 7th. We will then spend the weekend with Ed's daughter in Tacoma and fly home Monday. Just enjoying being close to my daughter and family. Son and DIL are coming over the 4th of July so we are busy planning things with them.

Sounds like everyone is settling down somewhere and not traveling as much. I do still read a few blogs still. Today I just decided to read a few posts of the forum.  Was looking for an update on Marsha. Anyone heard? Paul posted a blog some time back but wondered if they made it to Ohio.

  19. Since everyone is talking about summer plans, guess I will let you know what ours are.  Even though we no longer have our motorhome, we are planning a summer vacation.  We will be leaving on August 13th for Albany, New York....quick trip to visit last living uncle who is in an Alzheimer home.  Then on to Niagara Falls for a couple of days, down to Philadelphia and then back in Virginia on the 21st. Sure will be different type of travel since it will be in hotel rooms, but we are really looking forward to it.  I will be flying to California again in early October to see family and meet my great granddaughter who will be arriving in early August. We are thinking about taking a cruise to Alaska in 2017. Not sure if it will work out but we are thinking about it.

You all stay safe with the summer travels.
