  1. After several attempts to restring our day/night shade, Doug finally did it today. I wanted to share a secret with you. Sssshhh, chalk line! Being a carpenter, Doug often refers back to the tools of the trade. The two previous balls of cord we bought, he fussed, he cursed, he hung the blind and the cord broke. Not the chalk line. You know the stuff you cover with blue chalk and snap to mark the ground when laying the foundation for a house.

 He often mechanics with his hammer.

    Yep! It's called percussive maintenance...

  2. Well we left Moab, went to Goosenecks State Park for a couple of nights (drove Valley of the Gods again and went up the Moki Dugway and out to Muley Point again - totally wonderful, even the third time!), and are now driveway camping at a friend's place in Prescott. This is our project stop. I just replaced the old resonator on the Cummins (totally clogged with soot) with a new Aero 5050XL, and now we have the authoritative, throaty sound that we all love (What, you don't? Ear plugs are cheap...). Next, some maintenance on the generator. Well actually next (today) is a trip up to Jerome with some RVing buddies. Lunch at the Haunted Hamburger, and then the Gold King Mine, which is actually a very interesting (for guys) collection of old machinery. (Guys, gotta see it if you haven't!) Then the generator. I'm helping our friend here with lots of little projects, so it's a good exchange.

Nancy is hanging out a lot with a good friend here, getting into all sorts of trouble, having a good time too.

And some time later, we'll be heading to Apache Junction to visit some friends, and then probably down to Tucson for a bit, followed by Q.

  3. tdhomestead, steve44, and shadowtracks all had a planning meeting at OK RV Park in Moab yesterday, followed by the official meeting at the Moab Brewery Both meetings were sucessful but meeting minutes have been classified, pending review by the flux capacitor homologation committee.

  4. Well, we made it as far as Grand Junction yesterday. Beautiful drive West on I-70 and the aspens are at their peak. I had to throw water on Carol's camera to cool it off.

By the time you get to Moab, looks like most of the national parks in Utah will be open again (just read on the news that Utah is financing 10 days of operation for US dept of the interior.)

  5. Well, we closed the Gros Ventre campground in Grand Teton NP a day ahead of sched (thanks to DC morons) and left yesterday, heading down to Moab for a while. Now in Provo. Feels really good to be in the road again, even if we won't be able to visit Arches and Canyonlands.

Just catching up on the forum. - Steve44 & Carol - when will you guys be down in Moab?

We'll be staying at the OK RV park south of town for a week, and then maybe boondocking somewhere.

Is there a Class of get together location for Q yet (assuming there is still a Q...)?

  6. Absolutely great to see Delcie and Freddie again! And we're really liking our campsite. And that's a good thing, 'cause Nancy is off to a watercolor class for 10 days north of Durango, and I'll be able to get into trouble all by myself for a while (actually Freddie wants to get into electrical trouble on their rig, so I'll have help  .)

  7. We have been to the Big Bend Nat Park for the last week without internet or cell service. It's plenty HOT there, glad to be heading North. Will see our daughter in Big Springs for a day or two and then to Paducah for a few days before heading to Colo. Everyone stay safe. We sure enjoyed seeing everyone at Q in Jan.

    LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!

    Freddy and Delcie

We'll probably see you in CO this summer ! We're currently in Prescott, driveway camping at a friend's place, doing projects on both his trailer and our rig. Heading up and over into CO at some point (Jello is jiggling...) Sounds like lots of folks are going to be in CO this summer, so go easy on the water  .

  8. Yes! Stop by...Dianne & Tom "warned us" about you guys  and as you know they are to arrive here soon...perhaps tomorrow? Either way, Lynn and I are anxious to meet more of our "Class-Less" mates. Maybe after we shovel out from the snow storm that the weather guessers are predicting!

Good idea (warning...) We're in #315, or at least I am. Nancy is up in Tucson taking a watercolor painting class and will be back tomorrow evening, just in time for Lady's Night Out, but I'll be around and may stop by tomorrow if the weather isn't too crappy. Looking like a good day to hunker down, though.

  9. Howdy!

We're back in Benson, after being stuck in Nacogdoches (TX) for 3 months, getting the rig painted, adding stuff, fixing stuff. Great to be able to move again, though. we'll be here until at least Mar 15th, since we have annual doctor & dentist appointments in Tucson. Great to be back in dry country again. Nacogdoches was rainy a lot of the time.

  10. Apparently I got the itch. I packed up this morning to go to the grocery store and just kept right on going. West. Towards Arizona. May take me a month to get there, though.

    Linda Sand

We expect to get the itch again soon too, but we're in Nacogdoches, TX until at least the first or 2nd week in Jan, getting our coach painted. Full body paint, paint the roof, new headlights, etc. Won't be able to recognize our rig when they get all done.

We've moved out of the rig into an efficiency apartment that the company (Xtreme Paint and Graphics) provides at no cost, so we're quite comfortable, but it's pretty weird being totally out of the coach. This town has a lot of activities (Xmas season), and we have friends in the area (and Nancy is finding us new friends every day...), so no danger of boredom. Don't think we will get to Q this year, though.

  11. Sounds like you have a great place to be for the summer. We're headed up your way - the long way...after visiting the coast of Oregon and Washington.... we have Res. in Kalispell at Rocky Mountain Hi for the whole month of August... will be up in the park several times I imagine...where are you working? Maybe we can stop by and say "hi!" while we're there at least!

We'll be at Johnson's of St. Mary http://www.johnsonsofstmary.com/ . Do stop by! Hope to see you! And we'll be getting to Kalispell once or twice a month, I would guess. Not many stores on the east side of Glacier...

  12.

Jim is healing. Still has a lot of pain and has to sleep in the recliner because he can't lay down. But each day is a little bit better. Sure hope he feels up to grilling me a steak tonight. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Wow, that's great great news!! We're now up in Jackson, enjoying some stormy weather :(. Down in Moab we hiked non-stop until the temps were getting hot, then left for cooler climates. And now we're heading up to our summer gig in Glacier NP. We'll be there from June 5th until probably mid-September.

  13. Just wanted to let all of you know that Jim and I are going to be in AJ for awhile longer than planned. We found out Jim has lung cancer and is going to need surgery. We don't have a date yet for the surgery but hopefully it will be within the next two weeks. Then we'll find out if he needs any additional chemo or radiation. Several people here in our park aren't leaving until the end of May so we are surrounded by people who will take care of us if we need help. Sure is a good feeling.

I'll let you know when we find out something more.

So so sorry to hear that! You are in our prayers. Nancy's sister was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years ago, caught early, had surgery, and didn't need chemo or radiation. She is doing fine now, and we affirm that Jim will have the same outcome.

  14. Still in Benson at the SKP park (#322), and the wind is gone for a while. All but 2 of the 16 dash/cockpit parts that we took to the upholsterer are back and I should have them re-installed tomorrow. Then Monday, the front chairs go for Ultraleathering. And while they're out, I'll have nothing to do but slim the desk down some and install a new TV... Nice that the park has a good shop.

  15. We had company show up yesterday. It was kind of like a repeat of last year when the Sands got stuck in the sand except these folks needed a tow chain and a monster truck to assist. I'm wondering if they'll fess up.

It was the curse of Pilot Knob! and it was I! We stopped by to see Jeri / Terry / Freddie & Delcie and I went to turn the rig around and there were tire tracks where I went, but apparently they weren't 15 tons and we were :( ! Luckily Freddie was able to pull us out (with Terry's chains), and then it made our happy hour lots lots better! I always used to tell folks who worked for me that if they didn't make any mistakes I'd know they weren't trying, so guess I was really trying...

Now we're up in Borrego Springs, boondocking for a week, hanging with some (non-RVing) friends, and what a gorgeous place.

We got great tips on Borrego Springs and Anza Borrego SP and where to boondock from http://wheelingit.wordpress.com/ Great blog!

Forgot to mention that we ran into Coldsmoke just as we were leaving the Benson SKP park on our way to Yume, but they promised they would be there again when we got back (next week), so we're holding them to it.

  16. Shadowtracks .... where are you? We were talking about you today and wondering when we'd see the whites of your eyes?

This has been an interesting day in "Q". Boy, has this been an interesting day in "Q". :D

We're here!! Still in Benson, getting things done, getting...restless. Still some projects left to do before we head over there, but I did get the muffler changed on the rig, so that one is done. Expect to wander that way on the 15th, assuming the crick wash don't rise, and Jeri doesn't change the location too many more times. We'll put the latest (??) loc into our brain-dead GPS, which will likely try to route us through San Diego. A GPS tuneup with a hammer is getting closer  (This is called terminal percussive maintenance.)

  17. Hmmmmm, lets see now. The blue wire from the Temporal dilation keyboard is the same as the grey wire with the blue stripe going from the flux capacitor to the dilithium crystal container. The red wire from the dilation keyboard has to go to the activation module on the flux. Ahhhhh the black wire is temporal ground. Ok, I changed them out and flipped the switch and all the smoke came out. EEEEEKKKKK :o , oh well back to the drawing board. At least the activation at the "crack of eleven" seems to work. Mumble Mumble

Ps: maybe I can borrow the book from Dave (shadowtracks)

Errr... You already will have borrowed it. I think you have it hooked up for temporal deletion, so try to have been extra careful  . Black wire with a transparent green stripe goes to the quantum fragmentation entanglement input, according to the manual I will have read.

  18. Too soon to tell for sure (and we're not even sure about that), but we may be able to get to the gathering in Q. We're currently at the SKP park in Benson, recovering from Turkey Day (no spaghetti). We'll be moving up to Tucson for December to get our yearly maintenance (doctors appointments) done along with rig and toad maintenance, supporting the local economy, wandering the 4th Avenue Fair, etc.

January looks busy but since fuel prices have gone down, we've traded our flux capacitor in for a temporal dilation inductor (day stretcher). Not sure it's working right just yet, cause when we get up at the crack of eleven, noon still comes along right after it...

  19. We're now in Rapid City - our old stomping grounds, getting drivers licenses converted, doing paperwork, replacing the AC compressor on the rig (the old one froze up), etc., etc. Not a bit of sightseeing yet, either. Sometime soon, like maybe Saturday, we head to Omaha, to meet up with Mike and Julie, and then south... IYQ - we're staying at Americas Mailbox campground, but no rain, so no mud! I think I can see your tire tracks from when you were here, though.
