Jim & Sherri Reed
You got the wine. . .we got the cheese & crackers!!! Sounds too good to pass up. I believe Jeff and I can help with your space problem. I'll see if I can make reservations for Sunday the 29th and we'll drive over there when we leave Loyd Park. Can you give me directions on how to get there. Suzanne and Barb, I asked for directions, I didn't ask you to tell me where to go. There's a difference...I think. Barbaraok
Jim, If you want to avoid the airport traffic, I would suggest turning east on I-20 until you get to the Duncan area, then at exit 460 go north on Spur 408, which runs into Loop 12 and will run into I-35E and head north. Then take exit 457, take the frontage road up to Hundley, go west under I-35 onto Tuberville Road, then south on Point Vista Road, and follow the signs to Hickory Creek. Barbaraok
Dave had his cataract surgery yesterday and he can once again read road signs! Was in and out in under 45 minutes. His eye is already back to 20/20 distance vision! We're looking forward to seeing everyone after Thanksgiving. Jeff & Suzanne
So glad to hear about Dave's surgery! That's the way it's supposed to be done - NOT the way Jeff had his! Glad we're all set for Hickory Creek end of the month. Jeff and I are at Rainbow's End right now. We stopped in Athens to have the M&G supplemental brake installed on the toad and we're getting stuff put away and learning to live in our new space. We signed up for the mail service today and got our old address back. We hope to take our written driving tests on Mon., I take the driving school on Tues. .and we leave here Wednesday morning - hopefully take our driving tests for our Class B and then back to DFW. We officially move out of our apt. and into The Burrow on the 22nd and will be staying at RV Texan thru Thanksgiving week. If anyone is at Rainbow's End right now, we're in site 116. Barbaraok
We moved to Lavon Lake - the COE part at East Fork. We'll be here until Thanksgiving when we move over to Hickory Creek. We do have to drive back to Tyler (in the car) one day so Dave can have one last check and get a new prescription for glasses. His biggest fuss today was having to stand around and wait for me to lift and carry things to him. He has his own rhythm for taking down, setting up, and it was disrupted today. Luckily by the time we move again, he'll be off the restrictions. One of the written questions that I had to skip was the year electric turn signals were required on trucks - 1960 if I remember correctly. What that has to do with safety is beyond me, but there the question was. Just study that chapter (14 or 15) and you'll do fine. They do ask questions on clearance lights, length, width, etc. And remember, to look both ways at each stop TWICE and make sure you move your head as you check your mirrors - even if you can see perfectly fine in them, they want to see that head actively moving as your checking your position in those mirrors! Jeff & Suzanne
I (Suzanne) am now an alumni of the RV Driving School! I took the 4 hour course today and went from having NEVER driven a Class A before to having done numerous right turns and all kinds of backing plus driving on the highway and in downtown Livingston. I can't say enough good about the driving school. I'm certainly no expert, but at least now I have the confidence to drive and practice is all I need. We leave Livingston tomorrow and head for Nacogdoches - got a small problem needing tending to. From there, we'll head back to DFW, get our satellite reprogrammed for Dish and three days at The Vineyards in Grapevine. Life is good. Barbaraok
We moved over to Hickory Creek COE park today - - in site #56. Dave's checkup on his eye yesterday showed everything is doing well. In fact he doesn't need distance correction for that eye - he's seeing 20/20 with it. Just a little correction for reading and some in the other eye. New glasses one the way. Coming up I-35, it is better to get off at exit 458 (not the Lake Dallas exit at 457), then take a right turn and then a left up over the overpass, then loop to the right onto the frontage road. From there take the right just past the Texas Cattle Company steak house, then left on Point Vista until you see the entrance. Really looking forward to seeing everyone. This is a great Thanksgiving for us - our son-in-law who was diagnosed with cancer takes his last chemo next week - looking for a complete cure; our son got married to a beautiful young lady in October; Jeff is getting better everyday; everyone else is well and employed; and we are now living in our RV and taking to the open road in January!! Barb and Dave - we'll be there on the 29th - site 37. Barbaraok
We're at Hickory Creek along with Jeff and Suzanne in the next section. Now will someone please turn off the snow machine! We will be here until the 21st of Dec - then we are heading west. The four of us went to Starbucks this morning - nice thing about Hickory Creek is that civilization is just up the road! I think we entertained the whole place with all of our catching up to do on stories. Jeff & Suzanne
We're heading that way in January, but it may be Feb before we get there - depending on weather and cost of diesel. We plan to hang around in the desert (Q, Bullhead, Vegas) until the snow line clears around Yosemite. Barbaraok
We had a great time last night with Barb and Dave. Good wine, good friends, and a crazy game of Trivial Pursuit! What fun to be back. Also good food! I suspect the game would have been over much quicker without the wine - but the answers/logic were more interesting the more wine we had! And we just walked back to our coach without having to worry who was the designated driver! RobertShelly
Hey Hey Hey classmates! Sorry for being MIA, we are having too much FUN out there, LOL! We are currently at our 'winter spot' in Mesa, AZ but Shelly's nursing assignment was cancelled last week, so we may head over to Q in early Jan? Unfortunately, we also just received word that my(Bobby) dad's cancer fight has taken a very bad turn, so is possible we may need to head east. If we make it to Q, any planned meeting spot(s)? Jeff & Suzanne- WOW, we are SO happy to hear you're back on the road! Congrats on your new coach and hope to see you both soon! Oh and say hi to Madison 4 us! Diane & Dave- How you liking your stay in Benson? We may stop by for a visit if we head back east. Will give you a call soon. Barb & Dave- Sorry to hear about "Kit". DuaneandLouise
We seem to be right behind everyone. The first of Jan. we will be near Dallas for a couple of weeks. Plan to stay part of that time at Hickory Creek. We will go to Kilgore, TX to visit the kids there, then to Livingston for a few weeks. We are training for a workcamp job with Escapees. Hope we can meet up with some of you in our travels. Duane and Louise http://dandltravel.blogspot.com
M2ToGo
Hello all, We have also been MIA from the forum. So it was great news to hear about the HAMS beautiful home. Congratulations!!! We look forward to seeing you two on the road again. We are currently in North Florida visiting family and plan to attend many RV rallies around the state this winter. We spent 6 months of the summer making a large loop around the Rocky Mountains and capping it off at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Another check mark on our bucket list. On the way east, we met Dave and Barb at Livingston. We had a great time catching up, geocaching and helping them lighten their coach load of awesome wine. If any of our classmates are visiting Florida this winter, give us a shout. Joe and Nancy Too many roads, too little time. SKP #81932
